Santiago finished his dishes gracefully and the chef came to clear the table.

Tiffany was still not back and I couldn't help but wonder if she left on purpose or not.

The loud silence became awkward and the only distraction before me was my unfinished meal.

My hand felt like steel as I brought it up to pick up my spoon.

"Hmm…mm," Santiago suddenly cleared his throat, startling me. I jumped to my feet, shaking like a reed.

With a bemused smirk, he stared at me. A lopsided grin fell out of his face and he looked at me like I was a fool. I almost ran out, but I shut out the idea. I swallowed hard and dropped back to my seat. My gaze fixed at the door, earnestly praying for Tiffany's return.

Santiago had relaxed into his seat. His legs were crossed and he looked keenly at me, not missing any of my actions and reactions. I couldn tell that he was having the fun of his life seeing me miserable.

Slowly I began to munch on my food again under his scrutiny.
