His returning smile was gentle, barely-there. It vanished the minute the others returned.
The training continued throughout the day, until eventually, we were all tired. Standing outside of the house, we looked back at it. Neo stood there, unconcerned.
“I don’t want him in the house while we are sleeping,” Kairos said.
“Kairos,” I scolded.
“It’s fine,” Neo told me, lightly touching my wrist. “I don’t sleep much. I’ve been very restless at night. I think I will patrol the perimeter instead.”
