What inspired you to write One Promise? You see, when I was young, life was tough. I grew up with a broken family. I never felt the love I wanted all my life. I've always love reading. That's when I found my new comfort through writing. Then I held on to it because it gave me hope. It gave me another way to ease my broken self cause I needed to. Just when I thought I already hit rock bottom with all these pain I felt ever since I was a kid, God must've still felt the need to push me more by leaving me with a monstrous dad but I saw how God changes him. So I wrote this story for my dad.

Aku tidak pernah membayangkan berada dalam keadaan seperti ini. Menjadi orang lain di kehidupan sekarang. Namaku Ardan Rakha Wisesa, biasa dipanggil Ardan. Bukan, bukan Ardan. Mereka lebih sering memanggilku Cupu, Culun, Kutu Buku dan sejenisnya. Ya, aku adalah anak laki-laki dengan ciri-ciri jelek, dekil dengan kacamata yang tidak pernah lepas dari kedua mataku. Mataku minus sekaligus silinder dan sudah cukup parah, untuk berobat aku tak mampu. Bahkan bisa sekolah pun aku sudah bersyukur. Satu keunggulan yang aku miliki adalah pintar. Itu juga yang membuatku bisa sekolah di sekolah elite ini. Sekolah tempat orang-orang kaya yang selalu menyombongkan kekayaan orang tuanya. Sedangkan aku? Hanya dijadikan sebagai target bullying di sekolah itu. Hingga pada suatu hari, bullying yang mereka lakukan sudah melewati batas wajar. Hingga membuatku berada dalam kondisi sekarang. Merubahku menjadi orang lain dan menghilangkan semua identitas asliku. Aku yang sekarang, Guntur Hastanta Haidar atau yang biasa dipanggil Guntur. Menjadi anak seorang dokter spesialis bedah plastik terkenal di kota itu. Lalu di mana Guntur yang asli? Ini yang kemudian menjadi teka-teki yang juga harus aku selesaikan selain misi balas dendam. Apakah orang tuaku tidak mencariku? Aku tinggal bersama ayah dan kakakku, mereka tidak pernah menganggap aku ada. Mereka membenciku karena kelahiranku menyebabkan kematian ibuku. Semua ini akan aku selesaikan dengan tuntas tanpa ada satu pun yang terlewat.
