A woman dressed in a neat nurse's scrubs entered the room. Her dark hair was pulled back by a blue headband that matched her scrubs. She appeared to be in her 40s and had a pleasant smile. "Mr. Reiner, how are you? I'm Wendy, and I'll be looking after Mr Rainer, the senior." With a pleasant grin, she addressed me.

"You don't have to worry, Rei. I am fine." No, he was not. The deathlike pallor of his skin was something to be concerned off. He was deathly pale and he was always catching his breath. I always felt sorry for him. Why did he have to suffer like this? "Dad. Please. We will not be at ease if you are alone. Do you know your nurse's number? How about the pack doctor?" She had bright, friendly hazel eyes, messy brown hair tied back in a loose clip, and a crooked, welcoming smile. Her scrub top was slightly wrinkled, and her badge read Nurse Chloe Davies – Resident. “Is it that obvious?” Spirit sighed, rubbing her temples. “Honey, you look like you’re plotting a murder, and around here, Dr. Voss is usually the target,” Chloe chuckled, extending a hand.

There was also a gentle beeping in the room from the monitor that was tracking her heart rate. “This is Aimee. She is the nurse who will be looking after Ella today,” said the nurse who had brought him here. Javier turned to the blonde nurse and was about to greet her when he realized who it was. “You.” “Hello, Javier,” she greeted with a warm smile. He turned to the first nurse. “Can I ask for someone else to look after Ella?” The nurse looked confused as she glanced back and forth between Javier and Nurse Aimee. “W-what is the matter? Deep down I expected rejection, perhaps even contemptuous silence. The reply arrived at dawn two days later, carried by a lone rider dressed in black with no banner or insignia. I tore open the envelope in the dim light of the study, heart hammering against my ribs as I scanned the lines. It started low, a guttural, rattling noise, a dry wheezing chuckle, then the devilish laughter dies, and he continues, “You sound…”

A nurse looked up, startled for only a second before schooling her expression into professionalism. “Yes?” she asked cautiously. “We’re looking for Dr. Hale,” one of the guards said. “Kira Hale.” The nurse blinked, surprise flickering across her face. “I’m sorry,” she replied slowly. “I don’t know where she is right now. But she did come in this morning.” “Did she leave?” another guard asked. The nurse hesitated. “I believe so, yes. She left earlier than usual.” The guards exchanged brief looks. Before they could ask more, footsteps approached from down the hallway.

Put triage on one side, crash on the other. Add anything else you think we’ll need,” I say, rushing out the door and back to the main area.
