The mind protects itself by closing doors it is not yet capable of surviving open.” Kaelani swallowed slowly. “In binding your Fae side so deeply,” the Seer continued, “we believe your wolf may have become entangled within those same restraints.” Another Seer stepped forward beside her.

Her hair was pure white and her skin tanned like she was kissed by the sun. Rhae recognised her as Fae, but was no longer afraid. She felt happy and peaceful in this place. As she looked back to the stream, she found the Faeries had disappeared, the fish were floating on the top of the now polluted water and all the flowers had withered. She turned back to the Fae only to find her gone as well. Ash fell from the sky, filling Rhae's lungs. She looked back to the stream, seeing a great blue fire in front of her, ripping into the lush greenery and covering everything in black ash. As Rhae struggled to breath, she felt the ground open up beneath her. She was swallowed by darkness.
