Everything froze the moment his hand settled on the back of my head, leaning toward me, his mouth crashing onto mine with savage hunger. His warm body met mine, and my body shivered in his embrace. I closed my wet eyes submissively, letting him steal my breath with his ravenous intensity. I closed my eyes and let tears cascade down my cheeks. I now understood what I had done. Understood that I had made a deal with the monster who was once my lover. I was foolish to think he had changed.
