I’m confused and, most of all, hurt. I didn’t see this coming. I drop my eyes on the envelope with bold printed letters of the name of the law firm our lawyer works at.

"Christiana's voice cuts grandma, and I stare up at her in shock. I thought I'd have to do this with force, and then try my best to make up for it later.
