Chapter 1

“Oh Susan… you really are a pathetic little brat, aren’t you?” He leaned back against his desk, his arms crossed as he watched me with a smug expression. “Did you actually think I forgot you? That I forgot us?” he scoffed and shook his head. “No, sweetheart. I was just sick of you. I stood at the doorway frozen. I fixed my eyes on him, trying to make sense of what he had just said. His words hung in the air like a challenge, crashing over me like a wave of ice. I parted my lips to speak, but no sound came. “Darling she looks like a lost puppy” Lily chucked softly. She tilted her head pretending to pout “It’s almost sad, isn’t it?”He smiled at what she had just said before pushing off the desk and he walked towards me, his steps were slow and deliberate until he stood inches away from me. Close enough that I could smell his cologne, the same scent that used to make me feel safe. Now it only made me sick“You tried so hard, didn’t you?”, he lifted his fingers to count “Saving up, ru

Chapter 2

The words hung in the air, thick and suffocating—a job offer to be his maid? Was he for real? I felt Lily’s delighted gaze on me, waiting for me to crack. Waiting for me to accept it, to thank him. My stomach twisted. My body trembled with anger and disbelief and then I laughed—low and bitter.“You want me to be your maid?”“That’s the only thing you’re good for” he replied to me with an almost bored expression Lily giggled like a child who got what they wanted, “you’ve always had a soft spot for her darling, letting her stay instead of throwing her to the streets, that’s very generous” I knew what he was doing, he wasn’t just trying to hurt me, he wanted to break me. I lifted my chin, trying to steady my voice “Go to hell, Jamie”His smile didn’t fade even for a second “You first sweetheart”My throat burned. My heels clicked against the marble floor as I walked away, into the darkness of the night. He didn’t stop me, a part of me wanted him to, to tell me he didn’t mean it and he

Chapter 3

“Ahhhhhh!!!” I screamed in shock as I opened my eyes. My chest heaved as I scanned my surroundings—my room. Everything was exactly as I remembered it. I looked at the bedside drawer that complemented my bed and my phone was right there. That’s impossible. Those men had taken it. With trembling hands, I picked it up and checked the date. February 28, 3031. No… that wasn’t right. It was supposed to be February 28 3032. And then “Ohhhhhhhhhhh!” I exclaimed as my eyes widened— the realization had hit me. I’ve gone back In time. One year ago from the day I had died. “No…No, this can’t be happening”, I said with a trembling voice. This had to be a dream, i pinched myself hard, I winced at the pain and a red mark formed at the spot where my fingers had dug in. I ran to the mirror. “Am I real” I whispered. I looked at myself in the mirror, “Hello” I waved at my reflection, then smiled. I did my signature dance move and I turned round touching every familiar object in my room. My lar

Chapter 4

First things first. I needed a plan— one without flaws. There was no room for mistakes this time. I paced back and forth inside my room, from one end to the another, my mind racing. I listed everything I had done in my past life, every mistake I had made. The list was long— too long. And still, despite everything, I was never enough. Those words echoed in my brain like a curse. Never enough. Rage surged inside of me, I am human and I had emotions. A tear drop slipped from my right eye. I let it fall. I didn’t wipe it away because this was the last time.I sat down at my desk, reaching for a pen. I needed to write down my plan. I pulled my drawer open, my eyes caught it and my hand froze — a journal. Not just any journal— the journal. Jamie had given to me when we got married seven years ago. One of the many gifts he had given me before I realized he was nothing but a liar. ———————————————————————————“Ohhh… my wife, I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you” jamie had whispered, h

Chapter 5

I dressed up in the same clothes that I had worn in my last life it was a deliberate choice— to keep things interesting, to maintain the idea of the naive Susan. Eight minutes later I was downstairs, standing next to Lily. One glance at the both of us, you could tell that we were opposites, we had very different personalities. I had casual clothes on but Lily loved to draw all the attention to herself. “Awwwn sweetheart, you look so nice, shall we?” She said, wearing her usual cheerful smile “Yes we shall” I smiled back. We walked to her car together and few minutes later we were stepping into a winery. The same old spot— just as I remembered. “A winery?” I asked her with wide eyes for effect. “Lily, I’m pregnant, I shouldn’t be drinking alcohol” “Oh, Come on! we’d get you something non-alcoholic,” she pouted like a child begging for ice creamInside, she led me to seat at one end of the room, we sat down and a waiter came and We placed our order. Selecting a dish from the wine a

Chapter 6

It was time to make my first move. i knew Jamie too well— his buisness, his clients, his connections, and even his deepest weaknesses. And if he thought he could ruin me, he had no idea what I was capable of. When a woman wants to ruin you, she will stop at nothing to succeed. I held a masters degree in both business management and finance. For years, i had used that knowledge to help Jamie build his empire. But now, I would use it to take away everything from him. I might have been naive before but I was far from stupid. I sat at the desk in my room. With great care and full attention to details, I carefully mapped out my strategy. I listed his top clients, buisness partners and industry rivals. Names that held the power to either sustain him or break him. And then, I moved in to analyzed his company’s financial structure, taking note of every weakness he tried to hide. Connection and key players, buisness secrets, public perception and even his personal flaws— I documented it all

Chapter 7

The morning sun cast a warm glow through the pent house window, shining on the leather couch where I sat. Johnny sat across from me, leaning back lazily in his chair, his long fingers tapping against the polished glass desk. His expression was unreadable and that made it difficult for me to tell whether he thought this was a joke or he was just basically observing. A contract was on the table in between us, freshly printed and waiting for signatures. “Go ahead, read it” he said, his voice was smooth but there was a clear cut to it— like he enjoyed testing people, waiting to see if they’d flinch— such an arrogant young man. I looked at him for a while, I hope he won’t be this stuck up forever. Even if he wants to, at least not to me. I picked up the contract, reading the terms carefully: A two-month business alliance. I would use my insider knowledge to dismantle Jamie’s empire piece by piece, and in return, Johnny would allow me to oversee his company’s finances. The contract marr

Chapter 8

The elevator ride up felt like an eternity. The moment the doors slid open, I was met with the sharp scent of johnnys cologne and the sight of him leaning against his desk with his arms crossed. As I stepped into his office, his sharp blue eyes were filled with something different than the other times— amusement. “You work fast” he said with a smile, “Smith is already breathing down Jamie’s neck.” I dropped my bag on the chair. “Are you keeping tabs on me?”. “I like to know how my investments are doing” his smirk widened. “And you, Susan, you are proving to be very interesting”. “Am I supposed to take that as a compliment?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “You should” he said leaning back lazily in his seat. I rolled my eyes, but there was no denying it, Johnny was testing me, pushing to see how far I’d go.“Why did you call me here?” I asked. He stretched his hand and tapped a folder on his desk “Another opportunity. A risky one.”I raised a brow. “Go on.”“A high-profile investo
