Chapter 1: The Outcast

Hannah “Danger alert! The destroyer is walking!” A loud cry echoed through the path, followed by snide laughter that seemed to come from everywhere at once. The crunch of my boots on the gravel wasn't enough to drown out the frantic thud of my heart as I made my way to the center of the pack. A crowd had gathered, busy decorating the hall for tonight's event. With my head held high, I pushed through the throng, ignoring the disapproving stares and whispered insults that grew louder with every step. "Should she even be here?" a voice hissed. "If she touches anything, it'll be ruined," someone muttered, loud enough for me to hear. I took a steadying breath, shaking off the sharp pang of disappointment. You’re used to this, Hannah. Don’t let them get to you. The comments, whether whispered or brazen, were as much a part of my life as the air I breathed. I squared my shoulders. The Alpha himself had granted me permission to attend never mind the fact that I had to beg Luna Ivy for

Chapter 2: Rejected

Hannah My heart skipped as realization hit me: Eamon was my mate. My luck had finally changed. I held my breath, waiting for him to notice me—for him to feel the same electric pull I was feeling. It was as if the world slowed down around us. I saw his nose flare slightly, sensing something. His golden eyes flickered, scanning the crowd. He was searching. My pulse quickened as I stood there, frozen, willing him to find me. This was the moment I had been waiting for. Eamon would see me, his mate, and be amazed, just as I was. Everything would finally fall into place. His gaze swept across the people gathered, inching closer and closer. And then—his eyes met mine. A smile began to bloom on my face, but it froze halfway. His gaze slid past me, uninterested and cold, as if I were invisible. My hands dropped limply to my sides as the weight of his indifference crushed me. I glanced around nervously, wondering if anyone else had noticed our brief and one-sided exchange. What was t

Chapter 3: His Enemy

I ran, the mocking eyes of the crowd followed me. My feet pounded against the earth as if the rhythm could drown out my humiliation. By the time I reached Selene’s temple, I was breathless and broken. Collapsing onto the cold floor, I curled into myself, ignoring my dirt smeared dress. “Why was I so stupid?” I sobbed into the silence. “Why did I think he’d be different? Why did I confront him in front of everyone?” The memory of Prince Eamon’s rejection replayed in my mind: the cold disdain in his eyes, the way he held her as if I didn’t exist. “Why can’t he look at me like that?” I whispered to the goddess’s statue. Tears streaked my face as I cried out, “Why did you make him my mate, Selene? What have I done to deserve this? No one wants me—why was I even born?” The pain of the rejection clawed at my heart until it dulled into an ache. Hours passed, the temple’s silence mocking me. Then, guilt twisted in my gut—I’d ignored Maya’s calls as I fled. My best friend wasn’t strong,

Chapter 4: Sweet and Dumb

Hannah The whip cracked against my back, as fire streaked across my skin. I gasped, struggling to keep the scream trapped in my throat. Eamon, my mate, my tormentor -loomed over me, his gaze cold and unforgiving. “Please, Eamon,” I begged, my voice hoarse. “Let me speak to Maya, Is she safe? I need to know!” Hours have blurred into days since I was dragged away and tortured. Eamon had taken it upon himself to dole out my punishment, his aim to find who my accomplices were. At first, I had pleaded and begged in the hope that my mate would see my innocence. He had not. Tired of the repetitive questions I have instead leaned towards asking questions of my own. He sneered as he snapped the whip again. “So, you do care for someone else. Shame you didn't show that compassion before trying to kill Vivian out of jealousy” “I didn't! I’ve told you a thousand times, Eamon. I wasn't trying to hurt you or Vivian! I was only trying to save you! It was—” His laugh was bitter, crue

Chapter 5: Enemies

I stood in the darkness, unmoving, for what felt like hours. The dim lighting of the cell and the irregular timing of meals had robbed me of any sense of time. Not that I cared. Luna Ivy was right. She had always been right. I had nothing. No home. No family. No friends. And now, no mate. I was alone in this cruel, unforgiving world long before I even started—and it was all my fault. The knife glinted faintly in the shadows, catching a light I couldn’t find the source of. My eyes lingered on it. Should I? Was there even a reason not to? The shadows in my heart deepened, suffocating every last spark of hope. I had done everything to hold on to what I thought was mine, only to be discarded and humiliated. I shuffled toward the knife, my bare feet scraping against the cold, hard floor. My voice broke the silence as I whispered into the void, “I was so stupid. Stupid to believe in Luna Ivy. Stupid to think Eamon would ever care for me. Was I ever worth anything?” I waited for

Chapter 6: Things fall Apart

Eamon I marched out of the dungeon with tension coiled around my shoulders. The girl irritates me. She somehow always managed to get under my skin, and I lose my cool. Why! Punching the air, I take deep breathes, trying to calm my nerves. I shouldn’t have done that. I have no right to call her names. It’s not my place. But her words dig into me like she’s disappointed in me—in the man I’ve become. Who is she to judge? Who is Hannah to tell me how I should grow? What does she know about the hell I’ve been through just to stand here? I try to shake off the guilt, but her scream still echoes in my head. It’s not the scream of someone being whipped or tortured. This one is raw, broken like it’s torn straight from her soul. My steps falter as the realization crashes down on me—I’ve done this. I’ve broken Hannah Welsh. I turn back toward the prison, ready to apologize, but a maid intercepts me. She bows, excitement lighting her eyes. “Prince Eamon, your fiancée, Lady Vivia

Chapter 7: Taken

Hannah Branches lash against me, ripping into my skin as I push forward, running blindly through the forest. The pain burns, but I ignore it, my legs moving faster with every heartbeat. I can’t stop. I won’t stop. Eamon might be behind me. He might already be chasing me. The thought pushes me harder, even as tears blur my vision, making it harder to see the path ahead. Then I slam into something—or someone. A solid chest stops me in my tracks, and I stumble back, breathless. A cold voice, dripping with malice, cuts through the air. “Well, well... look who we have here.” Chills raced down my spine, freezing me in place. I stumble back, my heart pounding in terror as a sinister laugh fills the air. Before I can react, a strong arm snakes around my waist, locking me in place. “Who are you?” I gasp, struggling against the iron grip. My voice is straining to remain calm. “Oh, darling, don’t be so quick now,” he drawls, his tone mockingly calm. “Let me do the talking, alright

Chapter 8: Brutes

Hannah I watch with a mix of disgust and fear as the man who kidnaps me, Boss Sila, eagerly ties me up. His face twists with glee, and I hear him muttering about how valuable I am. He turns to his men and lets out a triumphant roar, which is followed by similar sounds from the others. “Well done, everyone,” he announces. “Today's hunt is a huge success. We manage to get our hands on a priceless beauty, unscratched and unharmed, without even lifting a finger.” His men snicker as their eyes roam over me, making my skin crawl. I raise an eyebrow in confusion. He calls me unharmed, but does he not see the marks Eamon leaves on me? The scars from the whippings I endure? I don’t bother to correct him, though. He is too caught up in his excitement. “As a reward for today’s success, we head back early and take tomorrow off before heading to the slaver’s market,” he continues, his voice full of satisfaction. I am herded away from the familiar scenery, my surroundings slowly giving way

Chapter 9: Acceptance

Hannah I toss and turn on the sorry excuse for a foam, Boss Sila had given me, when he guided me to the room he claimed to belong to me. “For someone bold enough to call this hellish place and empire, he sure knows how to treat his guests,” I grumbled changing positions for the umpteenth time, finally, I shot up from the bed, “Gosh who am I kidding! This is pointless.” The silence of the room greets me. To call this place a room is a long stretch from what it was—a prison. It was empty and bare only good enough to keep me until I was sold, or taken away by my new owner. The weight of the thought settles on my shoulders, pulling me down into a spiraling web of ‘had I known’ and regret. Shaking my head I push the thoughts to the back of my mind, now wasn't the time and frankly I couldn't think of when would be a perfect time. Instead, I think about my new room, my legs currently bent in an unnatural position, the pain I was feeling, and the size of the room being the cause.

Chapter 10: Slave 39

Hannah “I hate this,” I whispered fiercely, pushing myself off the hardened foam mattress beneath me. Every inch of my body ached from the strain, exhaustion clawing at me, yet sleep refused to come. All I could do was pray for morning to arrive—though I knew it wouldn’t bring relief. The night dragged on, slow and unending, leaving me alone with my thoughts. My mind churned with plans for revenge, each one more outrageous and daring than the last. But none of them mattered—not yet. Not until I escaped this place. How could I, though? Could I even manage it if I tried? Without a map or a phone, I didn’t stand a chance. I’d paid attention during the journey here, captured and hauled away by Boss Silas and his men. Yet, I’d seen no opportunities for escape, no chance to slip away unnoticed. Worse still, I had no idea where I was now. Silas had smugly mentioned it was “far more beautiful than the Empire,” but I hadn’t bothered to take his words seriously. Still, it didn’t
