CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-NINE DAMON Point of View "Damon," Alpha Jamel said, nodding at me. I just stared for a moment. Alpha Jamel rarely visited anyone. Ever. And here he was at my doorstep. "Can I come in?" he asked when I didn't say anything. I stepped aside, still trying to figure out why he had come all this way. "Yes, yes, sure you can," I said, still shocked. "What's going on?" I asked as he sat down at my small table. I didn't offer him anything to drink. This wasn't a social call, and we both knew it. He looked around my cabin, taking in the sparse furnishings, the books stacked in corners, the weapons hanging on the walls. Then his eyes settled back on me. "I'm here about the invitation, Damon. I need you to come to the next pack meeting," he said simply. I laughed. "Excuse me," I said, still laughing. I couldn't help it. He didn't say anything, just looked at me. "You came all the way out here for that? You could've sent a message." I said, keeping my tone straight
