Hector paced the floor, his steps uneven, as though the weight in his chest was too much to bear. His mind raced with a hundred thoughts, and no matter how hard he tried, he could not settle his nerves. His temples pounded, his heart thudded painfully against his ribs, and still he continued walking, back and forth, like a man who had lost all sense of time.
