ELARA’S POV “Ready?” Nate asks, flashing me that irritatingly smile.I raise my chin and cross my arms. “I was born ready.”He chuckles. “We’ll see about that.”And so, it begins.“Rock… paper…” he starts slowly, dragging the words out in that annoying way he always does. I’ve known him long enough to catch on to his tricks. When it comes to Nate, it’s always scissors. He thinks he’s so unpredictable, but he’s not.Confident, I ball my hand into a fist.“Rock, paper, scissors!”I throw rock, already imagining my victory, but when I glance at his hand, my mouth falls open.“You’ve got to be kidding me.”He’s holding up a fist too… rock.“Another tie,” Nate says, clearly amused as he leans back a little. “You know, someone might say we’re in sync.”I roll my eyes. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. Let’s go again.”“Alright, round two,” he says, his grin widening.This time, I’m sure I’ve got him figured out. He went with rock last time, so he’ll definitely switch to paper. I throw scissors
