Chapter 1

Selena's POV"Father, please, I beg you it's me" I yelled at the top of my lungs with tears streaming down my eyes.I ran from one part of the room to another as fast as my legs could carry."Selena, I do not want to hurt you, but you leave me no choice. If you do not come out right now, I swear I would not be so merciful" my father screamed.I placed my hand against my mouth as I tried to hold back my tears. I was hiding out in the attic from my father. He had come home drunk looking for the last cash I had to gamble away, but I needed it to apply for university. Now he wanted it, and he was willing to beat me to death until I gave it to him.My body was shaking with fear, my nose clogged, my heart plummeted. I was scared. The air in the cramped attic felt thick with tension as I pressed myself against the dusty walls, trying to make myself invisible. The dim light filtered through the small, dirty window, casting eerie shadows that danced around me."Lena, my darling, remember when

Chapter 2

Unlike the others, my wounds didn't heal as quickly, a consequence of my lower rank in our Lycan society. The bruises throbbed with every step, my ribs were broken from the kicks I got from the pot-bellied men and his guards.Eventually, I was transferred to another set of guards, who hit me until the tears stopped flowing. Seeing the emblems on their uniform, I knew they were the Lycan king Adrian Guards. That was when I knew I was going to be tortured to death in his arms. Tears filled my eyes, but it didn't fall. The world outside the car window was a blur of green, but it brought me no comfort. All I could think about was the unknown fate that awaited me at Adrian's hands.Lycan King Adrian was said to rule the Crest haven Society, where the poor, the rich and the middle class were all separated by fierce hierarchy. He was said to have taken so many as slaves, women as his sex slaves, but unfortunately they were tortured and died a week later. That was the life I was going to live

Chapter 3

I was shaking, my body had sweat rolling down my back even though the air was cold.As I stood there, vulnerable and exposed, I couldn't help but wonder what horrors awaited me on this ominous night. All I could do was pray for strength and hope that somehow, I would find a way to survive whatever Adrian had planned for his new pet."You are not much, I don't see what's there for you to hide," the guard said, scoffing. I didn't say anything, I bit my lips in fear."But do know that as you are the Lycan king, you are also ours. All of us, we are going to share you." He was trying to catch my gaze, to make me look him in the eyes, an opportunity for him to catch my disobedience and hit me. But I didn't meet his demands. I only showed my fear, of how my body was going to be humiliated. He scoffed, "Someone will come to dress you." I only nodded in reply, my voice caught in my throat, unable to voice the dread that consumed me.He left me alone, and I crumbled, picking up the bedsheet to

Chapter 4

I sat on the edge of the plush bed, dressed in jeans and a simple t-shirt nervously biting my fingernails. My gaze was fixed on the bright sun streaming through the window, casting a warm glow over the room. It felt warm, better than the cold that was biting at my heart.A soft knock at the door interrupted my thoughts, and I turned to see a different maid from the one who had attended to me yesterday. My voice was hesitant as I asked, "Where's the other maid?"The new maid, whose name I didn't yet know, replied, "She has kitchen duty today." Her voice was soft, her expression neutral."Oh, alright.""Shall I prepare a bath for you?""No, it's fine," I murmured. "I've already taken care of that." Curiosity got the better of me, and I couldn't help but ask, "What's your name?"The maid hesitated for a moment before responding, "Janice."I nodded in acknowledgment. "Oh alright. Janice, I am Selena."The maid didn't reply, but I couldn't care less. The urge to reach out to my father was

Chapter 5

I sat on the bed cross-legged, the soft lamplight casting a warm glow over the pages of the book in my hands. It was one of the few comforts I had in this unsettling world, a world where nothing was as it seemed. I immersed myself in the words, escaping into the fictional realm of the story, if only for a brief respite. But that was shattered when the door to my room swung open with a force that made me jump.My heart pounded as I looked up and saw Adrian stumbling into the room, clearly inebriated. He swayed unsteadily on his feet, his eyes glassy and unfocused."You," he slurred, his words barely coherent as he pointed a finger at me.I blinked in surprise, my voice hesitant as I replied, "Me?"Adrian's response was a drunken nod, and he beckoned me with a clumsy gesture. "Yes, you. Come to me."Confusion and fear swirled within me, but I couldn't defy his command. Slowly, I got up from the bed and began to walk towards him, my footsteps cautious. My heart raced, and a sense of impe

Chapter 6

I froze when the words filtered into my ears and registered in my brain. Mates.Does that explain the tingling feeling I get when he is close? But my human self, the rational one of me would rather be far away from him as he was an abuser."You don't seem too affected by it.""Does it change anything?" I asked. "You wouldn't want an omega as your mate."He chuckled, "You are becoming bolder. I love it." He kissed my cheeks, slowly moving towards my neck as I bit my lips once again.Adrian's words hung in the air like a dark omen, and I couldn't deny the truth in them. Despite my fear and reluctance, my body had betrayed me with its involuntary response to his touch."Wanting you, It's not intentional," I stammered in response, my voice quivering as I tried to explain myself. "We haven't seen each other since that first night and you… reminded me of your presence everyday with gifts. My body, my wolf even though it's lowly, recognizes that, but me… the human still fear you. And still h

Chapter 7

Lila's eyes widened in shock at my desperate plea. She quickly ushered me into her room, shutting the door behind us. The dimly lit space offered a moment of respite from the grandeur and opulence of the estate."What are you talking about?" Lila whispered urgently, her voice laced with concern.I took a deep breath, my heart pounding with fear and determination. "Isabella is a threat, Lila. I know her, she is my mother's sister daughter. After my mother's death, she's taken everything from me—my birthright, my dignity, my freedom. And now, with Adrian choosing her as his mate, she'll stop at nothing to eliminate any competition. She'll kill me and my child, I'm certain of it."Lila's brow furrowed as she processed my words. "Adrian wouldn't allow that," she countered, her voice filled with uncertainty.I shook my head, tears welling up in my eyes. "You don't understand, Lila. Adrian may be the alpha, but he's also been cruel and unpredictable. I can't trust him to protect me or our c

Chapter 8

I awoke in a sterile, unfamiliar room, my body feeling strangely light. My hand instinctively reached for my stomach, but instead of the swollen, aching belly I had grown accustomed to, I found my abdomen flat and empty. Panic surged through me, and I tried to sit up, but a searing pain shot through my lower abdomen, causing me to gasp in agony.A voice beside me, deep and soothing, urged me to lie still. I turned my head, and there he was—the stranger who had come to my rescue in the forest. His face held a mix of relief and concern as he leaned closer."You're finally awake," he said, his voice a comforting presence in the sterile room. I struggled to remember the events that had led me here—the fall in the forest, and the desperate need for help to save my baby."What happened?" I managed to croak, my throat parched. I needed to know the fate of the child I had fought so hard to protect. The stranger—Leo, he had said—looked at me with a sad expression. "The doctors will explain ev

Leo's brown eyes bore into mine as he asked, "Why don't you want to stay with men?" I hesitated, memories of past traumas flashing before my eyes. "I've had bad experiences with men," I admitted, my voice shaky. "I really can't stay with them anymore."Leo's expression softened with understanding. "Calm down, Selena," he reassured me. "It's just for a few days, and they're my most trusted warriors. They won't bother you."I sighed, reluctantly conceding. "If you say so."Changing the subject, Leo asked, "Do you have any talents?"A faint smile tugged at my lips. "I can cook. I'm a great chef and baker."Leo chuckled, the sound warm and reassuring. "That's wonderful," he said. "Finally, you're smiling about something. That's good to see."My smile faded quickly as my past weighed on my mind once more. But Leo was quick to respond, gently urging, "No, no, don't go sad again. Come on, smiling suits you."I managed a small chuckle, grateful for his attempt to lift my spirits.Leo stood u

I gulped as I pushed my wheelchair back in fear. Ethan smirked, “Are you…scared?”Ronnie came forward, “Please Ethan, she has just gone through an ordeal. I hope you would understand and not pressure her. I beg of you.”I clasped my hands together, eyes watering as I looked at Ethan.“Who is this?” Another voice boomed from behind Ethan. They looked alike. Tall, imposing, handsome. He had dark hair with white strands. His eyes were sky blue unlike his brother’s whose were onyx colored.“This is Selena,” Ethan said, stepping aside. “Don’t worry, we won’t kill you…yet.”My heart raced.Ronnie eyes narrowed, “That's Caleb. They are twins. Don't mind both of them. They won't hurt you. I promise.”I didn't seem to buy it, I did not want to flinch but I did. My palms felt clammy and my mind raised. I turned to look at Ronnie. “Don't leave me…please.”Ronnie gave me a sad smile. “I wish I couldn't love. But work calls.” Tears was starting to fill my eyes. The twins chuckled at the same time.
