Chapter 11: A Fierce Kiss

JASPER “Dora-” “I think it’s best if Dora gets some rest to think things through.” Angel came forward, avoiding my glare. Reluctantly, I waited outside as Dora changed into some clothes brought by Angel. After that, I led her out of the hospital and straight to my car. When I opened the car door for her and offered my hand, Dora ignored it, entering the car by herself. “You’re an asshole!” Lupus snarled in my head. “You had one simple job!’ “I know, I know. I’ll fix it.” I replied as I rounded the car to the other side. On the way, Dora looked out the window, and from the way her cute pointy nose scrunched up, I could tell she was angry. A small smile made its way to my lips at how adorable she was, then suddenly I felt my wolf pawing at our link, literally giving me a migraine. “Why are you smiling? You should be finding a way to change her heart.” “I’m sorry. I’m working on it.” I replied, then faced my mate. “Dora.” “Your Highness.” Shit! She’s pissed. “Look, I’m so

Chapter 12: I Think I'd Kill Myself

DORA The moment his lips touched mine, electric currents spread all over my body. I had never been kissed before, so I froze with my eyes wide open, staring at Jasper's closed eyes. Something in me wanted to taste him too, but before I could respond, Jasper pulled back, and when he opened his eyes, they were golden yellow. When they landed on me, I could see the primal desire in them, and that made a pleasant shiver run down my spine. “Dora.” Jasper stepped forward, but his eyes flickered back to black, and instead of desire, I saw concern. “I am so sorry for doing that. I didn’t mean to. It was my wolf.” Like a deflated balloon, the rush and excitement I felt dwindled. Was my first kiss a mistake? I really hope not. I kind of liked the kiss, and somehow, I found myself wishing it had lasted longer. “Please say something.” Jasper pleaded, bringing me out of my thoughts. “Oh, it's fine.” I said, feeling my face grow hot. “I understand what your wolf was trying to do. I jus

Chapter 13: Wolfsbane

DORA His eyes appraised on my body from head to toe and then his lips curled up in approval as his eyes darkened. Blinking again, Jasper’s eyes came back to normal and I found him muttering under his breath. Then he looked at me and his brows raised in surprise. “Did I scare you?” He asked and I nodded in answer. “Oh, my bad. Amber told me you didn’t call her so I decided to bring you some clothes myself.” “Oh, thank you. I must have stayed too long in the shower. I am sorry.” “It’s fine.” Jasper assured. “You can spend as much time as you like. Here,” He offered me a bunch of clothes. “You can choose what you’d like to wear.” I accepted the clothes from him and my face grew hot as Jasper stood, staring at everything else in the room. “Can you at least turn around so I can get dressed?” “Yes, of course.” Jasper facepalmed himself. “My apologies.” When he turned around, I smiled at how charming he was when he apologized. It was fascinating to see someone so powerful to be so aw

Chapter 14: Luna Campbell

JASPER Dora stiffened, and through the mirror, I could see fear in her eyes as she looked away. “W-Why do you think so?” I rested my hands on the edge of her chair, and she jumped a little. “Think about it, Dora. You were just a child when your Mom died, and yet you suffered such a harsh punishment to the point that your father said you deserved death. It doesn’t make any sense to me. If you had told them the truth like you said you did and they made you go through all this torture, then they are truly evil.” Dora avoided my eyes and looked down at her fingers. “Unless…there’s something you’re not telling me.” Of course, no matter what happens, I’d still choose Dora, but I need to know the truth. “Dora,” I called, “tell me the truth, did you make a bigger mistake than what you told me?” Dora shook her head in response. “N-No. I…” She paused and fiddled with her fingers. “I shouldn’t have snuck out that day.” She sighed. “I was told to stay indoors with her because she was having h

Chapter 15: Morgana

DORA I suddenly found myself in the middle of a beautiful field that went on for miles filled with flowers of different colours. I smiled to myself, feeling elated at such beauty, but then I wondered how did I get here? Am I dreaming? “Isadora.” I turned around, and to my surprise, I found a stunningly beautiful woman standing just a few feet away. “Mom?” I whispered as I stared at my late mother. “Is that really you?” She smiled and opened her arms. “It’s me.” Quickly, I ran into her embrace, and when she wrapped her arms around me, I cried bitterly. “I have missed you so much!” “Me too, Dora.” She said, her voice as sweet as honey. “I’m so happy to see you!” “Likewise, my Darling.” She said, rubbing my head. “Can I stay?” My Mom's smile faded, and she suddenly looked sad. “You can't, my precious.” “But why?” “Because you're special, and you have to stay alive, Isa. There is so much you don’t know and so much you have to do. I wish I was there with you, but remembe

Chapter 16: The Gamma

DORA “Is everything okay?” Angel asked. “Oh. Yes. Everything is fine.” I said, then I paused, “Actually, can we talk?” Instantly, Angel placed the dress on the chair and proceeded to sit on the bed. “What’s up?” I gathered my thoughts before facing her. “Can you tell me what Jasper’s like? When he’s sad, angry, or happy. How can I know his thoughts?” Angel smiled. “My brother is…a complicated person, which makes it hard to read him sometimes.” “Can you tell me more, please?” Angel nodded, but her smile became sad. “Jasper’s.. been through a lot, and I am not just talking about the rigours of being an Alpha, I am talking about instances that have left his soul scarred.” I thought about her words for a moment. “What do you advise that I do?” “Be patient with him.” She said. “Gradually, he’ll open up, but for now, my brother may be a little closed off. That’s how he is with everyone. With time, he will let down his guard, okay?” “Okay. Thank you.” I smiled. Afterwards, I fres

Chapter 17: Don't Tell Anyone

JASPER I ground my jaw in anger as I watched him stagger in. Dora looked from him to me and I could see the confusion in her features. I knew how much effort it took to remove Dora’s mind from the topic and now this stupid man was bringing it all up again. “She looks a little bit skinny tho.” said the drunk. “I can see why you made the party so you can fatten her up.” He chuckled. “That’s enough!” I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Leave!” I ordered. The man stood in stupor as if taken aback. “Are you really going to talk to me that way?” He slurred and I had to signal to Chang to take care of him. “Come on, Buddy. Let’s go.” Chang said as he began to direct the man towards the door. “Don’t touch me!” The drunk staggered. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your choice.” Chang said. The drunk seemed to think about that for a moment before turning to the door and letting Chang lead him out. I heaved a sigh of relief but as I was about to sit, I noticed Dora whis

Chapter 18: Isadora

JASPER Dora moved her head back and forth like a child. Suddenly, her eyes sparkled as she saw something behind me. “Look, see. It’s fireflies.” She beamed, and the next thing I knew, she was drawing me close to them. When she let my hand go, I suddenly felt empty, but then my emptiness didn’t last long when I heard her laugh as she chased after the fireflies. It was the most beautiful melody I had ever heard, and all I could do was stare at her as I saw her truly happy for the first time. She eventually ran to me, full of laughter and joy, and looked up at me with her head cocked to the side with the most childlike innocence. “What?” I said, suddenly feeling shy myself. “Are you really sure I’m your mate?” She asked, and her once happy demeanour disappeared, leaving behind an uncertain, fragile woman. “Yes.” I answered and took her hand in mine. “You are and always will be.” A small smile bloomed on her face. “I’m sorry I’m always asking about it. Since I don’t have my wo

Chapter 19: Why Would Jasper Go Back There?

DORA “So, what do you like to do for fun?” Angel asked as I sat on the living room couch. She grabbed a TV remote and turned to me, “Do you watch movies?” ‘Movies?’ I thought to myself. ‘When was the last time I saw a movie?’ A memory played before my eyes. I was six years old, hearing my mom sniffle and cry on her own in the living room. “Are you okay, Mommy?” I had asked then, as I approached her and she had quickly wiped her tears, pretending to be fine. “Yes, my Darling.” She replied, stroking my hair. “Why aren't you sleeping?” “Because I keep seeing that scary woman.” “The Moon Goddess?” I nodded. “Awww, my sweet child, come here.” My mother had said and I had climbed in on the couch with her. Afterwards, she had turned on the TV and watched some cartoons with me till I feel asleep on her chest. “Dora?” I snapped back to reality, and when I looked up, I found Angel staring down at me with concern. “You look upset. Are you okay?” I suddenly realized that I had been

Chapter 20: Have Faith In Me

DORA “Calm down, Rick.” Angel said, approaching him. “What happened?” Rick began to pace back and forth while Raven and Chang stood at a distance, watching the whole thing unfold. “Alpha told me to keep an eye on her pack and report anything unusual to him. Everything was going fine so far until all of a sudden, people started leaving their homes in the middle of the night.” My breath hitched as his story began to make sense. “They were dressed in some cloak,” Rick continued, “and they all went to an open field, formed a circle, and began to chant in a foreign language. It was really creepy.” “Okay, and?” Angel asked, still not fazed. “What happened after?” Rick seemed like he was going to cry. “I have no fucking idea.” He whimpered, rubbing his shaved head. “One minute, I was keeping an eye on them and recording their chants, the next, I-” He hit his head as if he was trying to make his memory work again. Angel turned to Jasper. “What’s going on? What happened to him?” Jasp
