Chapter Fifty-One

LAYKENThe thrill of what the day might hold had me tossing and turning, a restless excitement that had me up earlier than usual. With reluctance, I pulled away from my gorgeous sleeping fiancée, the soft rise and fall of her chest a hypnotic rhythm against my own, and kissed her forehead. The skin crinkled beneath my lips, a tiny disruption to her peaceful slumber.“Go back to sleep, baby,” I whispered, brushing my thumbs over her cheeks. “It’s only five in the morning. I’m gonna go for a swim and work out for a while.” Harper whimpers when I roll out of bed, but sighs sleepily as I pull the covers up to her chin. I watched her for a few moments as she got comfortable and smiled when her soft snores started once again. Even with sleep-mussed hair and morning breath, she’s still the most gorgeous person on this earth. I would never have it any other way.Walking away from Harper is the most difficult thing to do. Right now, all I want is to go back to bed and hold her. My half-erect

Chapter Fifty-Two

LAYKENHarper glances at me furrowing her eyebrows, shaking her head. “Have you gone insane? I don’t understand what’s going on, Layken?” Despite a frustrated breath, she continues to hold her signs aloft. Their faces showed amazement as they approached a moment later. With a smile and a nod to Harper, they came toward us, their arms intertwined, fighting their way through the sea of people. James yanks his hand from his sister’s grasp, sprinting toward Harper before engulfing her in a crushing hug. She shrieks in surprise and tries to pull away.I grip her hand, offering her some support. “Easy, Harper, this is your Uncle James. Your biological mothers, brother.”“My what?!” she asks, eyes wide in shock.“I’m your uncle, sweetheart. It is an honor to meet you,” James says as he gestures for his sisters to hurry and join us. Harper’s mouth drops open, and she gapes at me like a fish out of water.“He’s my uncle?!” Harper screams, clapping her hands in excitement. “I can’t believe you

Chapter Fifty-Three

HARPERThe car bumped to a stop in the garage, and a wave of relief washed over me as Layken turned off the ignition, a sigh escaping my lips. The ride home seemed to have taken ages, even though Layken had shaved off a few minutes off the drive from speeding. Silence reigned during our drive home, apart from when my aunts and uncles began chatting as they entered the vehicle. The silence was daunting, and I have so many questions that I need to get out. But I don’t even know where to begin. If it weren’t for the country music playing in the background on the way home, I would have gone insane. Excitement and awkwardness are hitting me simultaneously.Layken jogs to my side of the car, opening the door and extending his hand out to me. I take it and he helps me out of the car, shutting the door behind me. “Alright love, why don’t you step inside, and I’ll lend a hand with their bags and guide them to their rooms.” It’s maddening how everyone is treating me like I’m an invalid. I’m to

Chapter Fifty-Four

HARPERAfter encouraging myself further, I made my way back to the dining room, doing my best to smile. Josephine was the first to see me as I walked in. “Are you alright, Harper? I am aware this must be a lot to digest,” she asked as I strolled towards my seat. After sitting down next to Layken, he clutched my hand, offering his support. Which is needed right now, that’s for sure. “I’m feeling much better now. It was necessary for me to take a few minutes to calm down is all. You may not be aware, but I am two months pregnant. I’m usually quite level-headed. These days, it doesn’t take much to set me off. My hormones are just all over the place.”Josephine grins and claps her hands in excitement at my words, which makes me grin wider than I already am. “Congratulations! Babys are such a joy. You must follow in my footsteps,” she explains, chuckling. “My emotions were all over the place every time I was pregnant. I had four of my own. My youngest is just a few years older than you. I

Chapter Fifty-Five

HARPERJenna smiles as she sits next to me on the ground, then glances over at Josephine. “Josephine, why don’t you come to the other side of Harper, and we can show her the family album of all of us as we were growing up,” Jenna said before opening her album. They went into some crazy tales of the four of them as they were growing up. I have never laughed so hard in my life. It made me regret not having siblings. I had friends while I was young, but after my dad died and I moved away, I lost contact with all of them. It was lonely. Even though Sarah and Juan showered me with love, it wasn’t the same.We were all so absorbed in our conversation I had not seen my parents had arrived. I looked to see mom whispering with Janice on the couch sipping wine. Casting my eyes around, I saw dad was nowhere to be seen and concluded he was downstairs with Layken and James.Turns out Jenna and Josephine have four kids each, and James has three. Josephine has eight grandchildren, Jenna has nine gra

Chapter Fifty-Six

LAYKENWe pull up to the walkway leading to the entrance of the airport. I put the vehicle in park, then rush to open the door for James, so he could help his sisters exit the vehicle. Then I open the hatch so they could retrieve their belongings and jog over to let Harper out of the SUV. When I open the door, she sniffles and wipes away tears from her eyes. I know this must be hard for her. Her breath hitches as she reaches out and clutches my hand.We helped her aunts and uncle into the airport and gave hugs and waved, saying our goodbyes as they walked out of sight. Harper did well through the entire ordeal, but I know I need to cheer her up. I just don’t know what that would be just yet.We got settled into our seats and I drove away from the airport. When I had glided onto the highway I glanced over, and my heart constricts. Harper’s sniffling, and tears are streaming down her cheeks. I’m still unsure of what I should do to cheer her up. “What’s wrong sweetie?” Why did I ask her

Chapter Fifty-Seven

LAYKENHarper and I walked through the kitchen door from the garage, and once we were both inside, she grabbed my hand and started pulling me toward our room. I thought maybe she wasn’t feeling well and was about to throw up or something. I’ve noticed that happens when she’s upset.“Hey, wait, what’s going on?” I asked with concern.“I need you to fuck me, Layken. Right now, I’m extremely horny. I can’t even focus right now. Do you understand what I’m saying? I want you inside of me now!” she yelled over her shoulder.“What are you talking about, Harper? I thought you said your were tired? What in the world is going on, baby?” I asked, raising my eyebrows and blinking rapidly as I tried to grasp what she had just said.I have rarely heard cuss words coming from Harper, and she has never been as blunt as she just was to me. She told me she was tired in the car and she looked tired. But now, she looks full of energy, her cheeks are flushed, and she looks fucking gorgeous. It has to be t

Chapter Fifty-Eight

HARPERLayken holds me up against the wall as I cling to him, his hardness still planted inside me. I don’t think I’ve ever climaxed so hard. Sex has always been amazing with Layken, but things have amped up considerably since I found out I was pregnant. Thinking back to how we met and my life changed forever has me all riled up. If it weren’t for Layken, I wouldn’t be alive right now. I would be dead at the bottom of the lake and no one would even know I was there.I don’t know what the hell got into me just now. Whatever it was, it enthralled my man. I should take charge and be more assertive, more often. I just had the most mind-blowing orgasm ever, since Layken and I have been together. Wait, no, not just one, but two mind-blowing orgasms. The last one I had appeared to have blasted off and was a never ending orgasm that lasted forever. My mind is reeling and even after a few minutes of sitting here, I’m still coming down from my orgasmic high. My senses ignite with passion as my

Chapter Fifty-Nine

HARPERI twisted and grinned up at Layken. “Now that I have eaten and drank some water, I feel great. Don’t worry. It needs to be done today because we only have two weeks left before the wedding. Leanne needs to have time to make alterations if needed.”“Alright, sweetie. Let me drive you there, then. That would make me feel more comfortable with you going. Then your mom, Tenley, or Tambre could bring you back.”Anxiety darkens his face. So I know more than to object to his statement. “If it gives you more peace of mind, I’ll let you take me to my dress fitting appointment, bae.”“Yes, I would be worried about you getting there safely and then home otherwise. I wouldn’t want you to faint, fall asleep at the wheel, or get sick to your stomach on the way there and back,” he said, smoothing his fingers through my thick, long, dark hair. It’s always so comforting when he does this, and I realize just how tired I truly am. He’s right, I shouldn’t be driving.I glance at my phone and reali

Chapter Sixty

HARPERExasperated, Tenley finally spots an opening in the overflowing parking lot, sighing in relief as she carefully nudges her car into the space, the weight of the day pressing down on her. “Are you sure you’re up for such a long walk? It’s quite a trek up to the entrance of the mall,” Tenley asked, glancing over at me. “Earlier, Layken’s report to Tambre was that you weren’t feeling well. That’s why I’m asking. I could keep driving around until a space opens up that is closer to the entrance, if needed. I don’t mind,” Tenley asked, glancing over at me as soon as she parked the car.“I’m feeling absolutely amazing after trying on my dress. So don’t worry, Tenley,” I said, grinning over at her. “It’s important that I get some lingerie to wear underneath it. I want mine and Layken’s wedding night to be special. Besides, the long walk would do me some good. I need to keep in shape as much as possible while I’m pregnant,” I said, winking at her. “I will not let a long walk detour me f
