CHAPTER 31

Caspian's POV:“You, my friend, are a very draft fellow. Of course, I knew they were sealed but not anymore,” I reply, taking a seat.I see Raider look at me with a tired expression. He has always been wary of my words because I could be quite foul with them.“I was about to get to that. I know how to unseal them,” I reveal, a sly smile spreading across my face. “Like I said, I have my ways and I act only after I make plans. You should sit in some physiology class for brains and not care for only wits,” I say, mocking him. That's for thinking I wasn't smart enough for this plan. “You're angry, I warned you about attacking, aren't you? Caspian, you never change,” Raider replies.I cough, trying to clear my throat. “I don't need to act that low to pass my point,” I say, defending myself. Raider bends his head low to be in the same level as mine. “It would seem so, but I know you too, dear friend. Your ego’s bruised,” he retorts calmly and I almost choke back my words. He straightens

CHAPTER 32

Caspian's POV:We slowly move through the castle's corridors silently to avoid any more guards and servants. Suddenly, a tall built figure appears from the shadows. “Caspian,” Raider calls me in a low voice. “Look,” he says, and I nod in agreement.“Yes, I can see him,” I answer.Still, under the covering of the darkness, we lay still.“Come out, I can see you and smell you,” the voice says, and I walk out boldly. “For a werewolf, I am surprised you didn't try to disguise your scent, Caspian,” the man says.“You've been waiting,” I say. “Good, then I can kill you first.”I attack him quickly, but every one of my blows easily misses him. Soon, another group of werewolf soldiers appear, and they attack my men. I notice and realize that we have walked into a trap. My blood runs cold, and I take out my sword. Raider and his men follow the lead. My opponent and his men draw out their swords and position themselves like professional assassins. I charge forward, sword flashing in th

CHAPTER 33

Caspian POV: She blinks, shaking off the trance-like state.“Take him out,” she orders her men. “It's morning. He's to be executed in front of my men.”The guards move to drag me away. I glance back at Raider's body, my heart-shattering.“Elsa, you'll pay for this,” I vow, my voice cold and deadly. She looks at me, making sure I meet her gaze and she grins. “It's too late for that, Caspian. You hurt Damian and I am returning the favor,” she retorts. The guards haul me out of the cell, leaving Raider's lifeless body behind. The men place iron chains on my wrists and drag me out of the cell and into the open ground. The sun shines brightly as I close my eyes and open them to adjust to the light as I see the execution ground. I can hear the murmurs of the crowd, reeling with hate for me. “He's going to the grave, today,” one of the people whispers.“Isn't he the evil Caspian?” Another says. “Finally, he got what's coming for him.”I see Elsa's men gather around, their faces set in ste

CHAPTER 34

Caspian's POV:“Have a seat,” I say, gesturing to a nearby chair, and Raider obliges. “You do know magic isn't something you can just own?” Raider asks, making sure I hear every word. “I know, my dear friend,” I answer. “And you need a teacher, too,” Raider continues. “I am aware; I have been self-teaching with the books,” I reply. “Really? What about the witch?” Raider asks, shocking me.How did he know that? I made sure no one knew.“How did you…?” I ask, raising my head to face him. “I am surprised you'll keep that too from me. I just guessed, but it seems true. She did teach you, or should I say you did your trickery again and made her teach you, then you sent her to the slaughterhouse to be condemned, and you abandoned her if she's dead,” Raider says. “You know me well,” I answer. “Only the devil knows a devil,” Raider inserts. “So, what was your most brilliant plan that got us killed?” Raider asks, taking a cup of wine and drinks. I look at him, rolling my eyes; he wou

CHAPTER 35

Caspian's POV:“Let you be?” I complain.“You do realize this drink is too high for humans, and even werewolves can't survive two bottles, and you are almost done with two,” I lecture.“Uh, okay,” he says and I look at him carefully. What was wrong with Raider? He had never acted this way before. He was always good at keeping his emotions in check, and I was always good at keeping secrets, but he would somehow make me say them. “Are you okay?” I ask, with concern.“Uh, yes, I am fine. I am just…never mind,” he says and I start to feel there's more that he isn't telling me. “No, you're not fine. You're lying, and you have never been drunk, and worse, you keep stalling,” I complain, but Raider is too far gone to understand a single thing I say. “Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. I am a werewolf just like you. It'll burn up soon,” Raider says and I decide to let it go. I watch him drink everything to his heart's content even when I didn't want him to. Why would he drink this much

CHAPTER 36

Caspian's POV: I take a cup of wine and we cheer before I take a big sip. “Hmmm, nice,” I say, nodding at how nice the wine was. “I guess I might get drunk at this point,” I say, taking another big sip. “It's one of my finest collections. I made it myself,” Fredericksburg says.“Tell me again why you are a court jester?” I ask and Fredericksburg laughs out loud. “You should make more wine,” I say, pouring myself another cup. “I would remain a poor man. Wines don't take days to become this delicious. It takes years and your werewolves have a strong appetite,” Fredericksburg says and pours himself another cup of wine. “You're right about that. It would cause chaos for your business,” I say and take more sips enjoying the flavor.“Now, let's get back to business,” Fredericksburg says, jolting me out from my brief enjoyment.“What's bothering you, Caspian?” He asksI admire the fact he was free to address me by my name and in a fatherly tone. It made me feel more at ease.“It's not

CHAPTER 37

Caspian's POV:I hold on to his hand, focusing on taking away his pain, and I hear Raider groan and twitch on the bed. I continue to absorb his pain; my body trembles and my veins bulge. I grit my teeth, refusing to let go of his hand because of the pain. Raider's memories reveal his deep love for Merida, and my anger towards her grows.“Merida,” he calls her name again, and I see them talking in my mind. She smiles at him, kissing him, and the memory moves in another direction. She turns her back to him as she speaks. “No, Raider. I love you but I can't be with you. I want him. I want more. I can't be with you,” she says. Raider runs to meet her and holds her hand, his eyes pleading. “But you love me, and I love you,” he says, and my heart aches. “Merida, please,” he begs, but she stays silent. She turns her head to avoid looking at him, her black scarf blowing with her hair with the wind showing a bit more of her face. Those lips look familiar. Her body looks familiar. She t

CHAPTER 38

Elsa's POV:Damian has been absent from the court all morning, and I wonder why. I stroll to his quarters and push his door open, forgetting to knock. My cheeks turn red, and I pat my cheeks, trying to calm my body heat from rising. Damian is naked, standing on his bathtub with water dripping from his body. I stare at his chiseled physique and gulp as he steps out of the bathtub. I start to fan myself with my hands when the previous didn't work. Oh heavens, this is too much to bear. Look away, Elsa. Don't look down. Don't look; maintain his gaze. Look him in the eyes. Don't stop. Oh, moon goddess, I need your help now and fast. It didn't help that it was evening, and the soft candlelight made him glow. His long dark raven hair fell to his back down to his broad shoulders.“Oh my,” I whisper. “I…I'm so sorry,” I stutter, turning to get away but his voice stops me. “Wait, Elsa. Don't go,” he says and I stand still. My back is facing him as I feel the redness of my cheeks.Walk, E

CHAPTER 39

Elsa’s POV:What's this? Since when did I need all this protection?“Why are there so many guards today?” I ask, looking around. “It was Master Damian's orders,” one guard answers. “What?” I asked, looking confused.“Go back to your posts,” I order but none would leave.“We were assigned to you, Luna,” the head guard says. “Well, I am Luna, and I ask you to leave me alone!” I spat. “I'm afraid we can't do that Luna. He's the only one that can dispel us,” the guard says and I look at them.I give up and continue walking to the infirmary. The head guard opens the door to the infirmary and I step inside. The witch sits on the bed, looking pale and fragile. Her plump lips were a dull shade of peak and white. Her long, dark raven hair flowed down her face, making her youthful eyes pop out. Her honey-colored skin was perfection, and despite her waking state, she was still seductive, but she was still no match for the female wolves in my pack. Her black silky dress which was baring ev

CHAPTER 40

Damian’s POV:“Talk!” Elsa's commanding voice is loud. I watch as Elsa breaks Merida’s wall one after the other. Good heavens, you have a fierce woman, Damian. She is fitting for a queen.I watch Merida shake in fear as Elsa questions her, and I stifle a laugh. “Elsa,” I call her, and she turns slightly, lifting her head to look at me. “I think I should talk to her. You are going to send her to the Valley of Death with a heart attack,” I say.“I can handle…” Elsa begins to argue.“It's on your own,” I finish for her.“I know, my love, but your stare is going to kill her before we get the chance to get more information from her,” I explain.“Let me talk to her,” I say, begging her even though I was enjoying her work. It is good to see your woman being tough and unshakable. Elsa moves her gaze from Merida to me and nods. “Only because you asked.”I smile, thanking her silently as I walk to Merida.I pull a chair and sit beside her. “The poison you used on me was wolfsbane, but it d
