Chapter 91

CLAIRE This wasn't the usual morning that I had expected to have, but somehow, it came out for the better. I don't know if I'll ever get used to the sight of Asher handling the wheel, but it was a very interesting sight. Asher had decided that he wanted us to have the morning to ourselves without the interference of the driver. I looked through the window; the small smile that I had on my face refused to fall off as I observed the passing trees through the window. I tried not to flutter as Asher placed a hand on my bare knee. I shivered as subtly as I could. I wondered why he found it difficult to keep his hands to himself. But it was Asher. He was always going to look for an excuse to touch me. And even if I wasn't going to admit it openly, I wanted it to be that way. I secretly loved it. “You should've given me a bit more time to pack some more things,” I pouted slightly as I shot him a look. I was only able to pack up a small foldable mat, some towels, my water bottle, and than

Chapter 92

CLAIRE I tried to refrain from being conscious as Asher stared at me over the table. I noticed that the corner of his lips was tilted in a small smile. With the way he was looking at me, you'd think that I was something that walked out of a dream. My lips parted slightly in surprise. My heart paused, and I didn't exactly know how to react to the way that he was looking at me. I paused and raised an eyebrow at him. “Is there something on my face?” I said, and he smiled, shaking his head silently in response. My gaze traveled down to his food. I noticed he hadn't exactly eaten much, and my brows furrowed as I wondered what could possibly be wrong. I closed my eyes.“You don't like the food. Am I being too much? Did I do something wrong?” I blurted. I was unable to keep the questions at bay anymore. “Don't think too much about it. You didn't do anything wrong,” he said. “Then why do you keep looking at me like I have something on my face?” I said. “You just look... different,’’ he

Chapter 93

CLAIREI stared at him breathless for a moment. I was almost sure that I had misheard him, but then a part of me knew that I didn't. This was really happening. “Wait, what?” I sounded more breathless than I would have liked. My eyes fluttered closed as I tried to piece together what he was saying. But a part of me knew what was happening already. Maybe it was the fact that I was in denial. Maybe it was the fact that I was secretly brimming with anticipation, or maybe it was the fact that I couldn't still get over the shock. I knew that Asher was full of surprises. I guess I wasn't just aware of the surprises that he decided to have to go sleeves. Like traveling to another country after informing me in the short space of an hour. “I was hoping for two reactions. A smile on your face and a kiss afterwards. I'm not really sure I know what to do with the reaction on your face right now, he said. I inhaled deeply. He was right. I should say something. “You just told me that I'm going

Chapter 94

CLAIRE “I didn't know you could speak Italian. And I don't know you, a friend named Marcella.” I raised an eyebrow at him the minute we stepped inside the confines of the large bedroom. A king-sized bed was situated in the middle of the room, and I noticed how the walls and the shelves were decorated with fascinating antiques, art, and pieces. I think it was something that Asher would like. I wonder if it was part of the reason that he liked to come here. He turned around and raised an eyebrow at me. And even though I could tell that he was exhausted, it did absolutely nothing to temper with his gorgeousness. I guess some human beings were luckier than others. Focus. “Are you mad at me?” He asked. I paused. I tried to navigate my emotions, but I knew that I wasn't angry. Maybe it was because exhaustion was beginning to catch up with me. Maybe it was because I was feeling utterly and completely jetlagged. Who knew? I closed my eyes and sighed. “I'm not upset. I am more tired than u

Chapter 95

CLAIREI walked down the hallway admiring the cinnamon-scented flower vases as Asher held my hand. I was slightly nervous as the maids exchanged glances and whispered in Italian, but I could tell the awe in their eyes when they looked at me. I smiled shyly, and then I looked away. My cheeks are flashing red with color. I suddenly felt myself becoming nervous, anxious. I closed my eyes for a brief moment. “I think they're probably thinking the same thing I'm thinking,” he said as he leaned down to whisper to me. His gaze fell to my lips for a moment and lingered there. My breath got caught in my throat. For a brief moment, I thought he was actually going to lean down and kiss me. He didn't, and my chest tugged lightly with disappointment. We continue to head down towards the long expanse of the hallway. Until we arrived outside. The feel of the orchid-scented breeze against my face was beautiful. “Everything is magnificent,” I blurted as I looked over to the garden in awe. “I knew

Chapter 96

CLAIRE I watched as Asher's face paled immediately. My eyes fluttered closed as my heart hammered wildly within the confines of my chest. I was confused and frustrated, and I didn't know what to do. I closed my eyes and sighed. My palms were beginning to become sweaty. And my anxiety was angling at me from all corners. I didn't know how he was going to take the news. But even though I tried to convince myself to expect the worst. I just couldn't. I didn't have it in me to face the consequences of keeping the truth away from him. “What are you trying to tell me, princess?” The tone of his voice sounded strained, but I noticed he moved even closer to me. I found myself becoming breathless, and for some reason unknown to me, I couldn't breathe. “I can't give you babies, Asher, I whispered breathlessly. My eyes were beginning to water with tears all over again. I should tell him. I should tell him the whole truth. I could feel a lump forming at the back of my throat when I realized ho

Chapter 97

CLAIRE “Easy, princess.” Asher steadied me as I staggered a bit, almost losing my balance. His hands wrapped around my waist to steady me. I closed my eyes and sighed. I've finally told him the truth, and he still loves me. He was still here, and he still decided to stay. The realization gave such a warm feeling that I was almost forced to believe that I was floating. I was floating. I had to be. I looked up at him under my lashes, tilting my head to the side just to look at him. I closed my eyes for a minute, just to have the sight of his gorgeous face imprinted into my memory. The more I thought about it. The more it didn't make sense. Why would he decide to go for an empty shell of a woman? Why did he even make the conscious choice to love me? No matter how hard I tried, I was unable to fathom it. Why I thought this was the perfect moment to sabotage was beyond me. I closed my eyes and leaned into him, wrapping my arms around him. “Okay, I'm beginning to think the champagne was

Chapter 98

CLAIRE Nothing prepared me for the hard thrust of his length. My breath escaped me. My body was sweaty and sticky with sweat and at this point. It was impossible to focus on anything else but him, on me. My gaze lingered on his sweaty bicep, on how the edges of his face were contorted with pleasure as he moaned my name. I closed my eyes and sighed. It was nearly impossible to concentrate. Each thrust brought me an overwhelming wave of pleasure. Each moment made it difficult, too difficult to recover from the last. He paused to press a soft, sweaty kiss on the inside of my thigh. I shivered. My lips slightly parted at the wave of pleasure that pummeled through me. It was impossible to breathe. It was impossible to become conscious of what was happening. I was running out of my mind. But in a good way. For a brief second, my eyes caught his. And I wondered. I wondered how it was possible for this man to want me so much. I could spot the primal hunger coupled with the love he held for

Chapter 99

CLAIRE “Asher. You made it,” Lance approached us with his arm stretched wide. I tried to make sense of what was going on until he engulfed both of us in a hug. I had no idea how to make sense of all that was happening. “What are you doing in Italy? I didn't know you were coming here as well and why the hell are you dressed in an apron” I said as I raised an eyebrow at him. I knew my flood of questions might almost be considered rude but there were so many things that were happening and I just didn't know what to pinpoint. Asher and him both shared a look that screamed mischief as they both of them turned to look at me. My gaze traveled from Asher to Lance as the both of them laughed. They both genuinely looked so happy that it was hard for me not to smile. “This place used to belong to Lance's father,” Asher said. “And now it belongs to me now” Lance smiled at me with warmth. “Oh” I suddenly went quiet..I guess everything was beginning to make sense.“Follow me. Chapter 100

I felt the soft breeze blow through my hair and once again, I turned to the side to admire the view. I don't think I would be leaving this place anytime soon. I listened to Asher tell me more about his childhood. I listened to him to tell me about how the taste of the food gave him nostalgia. I listened and in some moments, I laughed and he joined in. I wondered if his chest felt airy and light as mine felt. I hoped it did. The next batch of dishes that arrived was chicken wings. Asher wasn't exaggerating when he asked me if I had enough space in my stomach. Fortunately, I wanted to experience the taste of everything that he had told me about. I picked up the nylon gloves that came along with the wings and I wore them. I took a bite. It was different from the other chicken wings I've tasted. And yet it was so delicious that I couldn't get over it. With the way I was eating. I doubted. I would have any space left for dinner. Asher joined in. Conversation flowed. More cocktails were b
