Jayden's POVI watch Jada as she walks into her bathroom. She looks so hurt. So sad. Her eyes have always seemed so lifeless but intriguing but today, they were sad. She seemed defeated. "Jayden, all I can tell you, is that betrayal hurts. I wouldn't want anyone to go through it." She's said before getting into her bathroom and the words keep on repeating inside my head. It's obvious someone close to her hurt her and as much as I want to figure out who it is, I can't. Jada never talks about her family or her friends. She never talks about her life. What she loves or hates. And I'd kill for an hour of her opening up to me. She gets into the bedroom drying her hair with a towel and I watch her. Her long black hair is curlier than normal. I continue watching her until her eyes meet mine. "I thought you'd be long gone." She says tying her hair into a bun. "Now that Julian's issue is done, what next?" I ask. She said she wanted to leave. I

Jada's POV I haven't been able to sleep since Jayden left even though I feel so exhausted. I just want to lay down and have a long sleep. Wake up hours later rested and energized. That's a dream that I don't think will come true. I turn to look at the clock on my bedside to find it's midnight. I better start packing. I walk to my kitchen and pour myself a glass of my favorite red wine then walk back to my room and straight to the balcony that I never use. The street is quiet and every house is dark apart from the random rooms with lights on. I need to leave with Ryan as soon as possible but where do I want to go to? I've never thought about leaving LA after Ashton's death. That thought makes me gulp down the remaining wine in my glass. I was the perfect girlfriend. We planned our future together. I told him my plans and hopes. My dreams. He was my everything. We told each other everything or so I thought. I should have guessed he cheated on me

"Wake up, baby. We need to leave." I shake him after packing some of his clothes into a duffle bag. He doesn't respond, just as I remember I haven't taken his personal effects. I run to the bathroom and pick up his blue toothbrush and soaps. Just as I take out two of the soaps, I see some dollar bills stacked together in a small can. I pick it and place everything together. When I'm done, I walk back to his bed and just find him still sleeping. "I'll just have to carry you, baby." I mumble positioning the bag so that I can carry both. "Let me help you with the bag. You can carry Ryan." Abby says, making me turn to her. She moves closer to me and takes the bag from me. "So this is goodbye?" She asks, and I nod. Since she told me she had feelings for me, I don't even know how to act around her. "Can I at least get a goodbye kiss?" She asks, looking at me even though I can see color rise to her cheeks. "Please. I just need closure." She says, and I let out

I know someone might say that I'm stalling. I'm trying to look for excuses not to leave. To be honest, that's true. We could just take a DNA test and leave, but LA has grown on me. I walk to my car to find Ryan playing with Abby Rock, papers, and scissors. A game they've always played since Ryan could. I slightly smile at their usual bantering as I get closer.  Ryan notices me first and smiles at me as Abby gets up from her kneeling position. "Don't forget to visit Ry." Abby says, hugging him. "We'll miss you, and don't forget that we love you." She continues before releasing him. "I'll miss everyone too. You, Conner, Anna, and mostly Cate." "Cate will be the most devastated." Abby says in a fake sadness as Ryan looks up at me. "Mummy, can we take Cate too. I'll share my room with her." He says, and I give him a small smile. "We can't. But I'll take you to see her from time to time. Okay?" He nods happily, and I turn to Abb

"We have to leave in four hours, Ryan." I say as soon as I'm done booking our flights after breakfast. My son's news has shaken me to the point that I'm afraid of doing the DNA test. I just want to leave. "Where are we going, mummy?" He asks, jumping onto the couch that I'm sitting on. I look at him and smile. "You'll see." I say, and he lets out a pout. I open the site with different houses that I want to buy. I have at least two million, nine hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars in my bank account and since I'm going to start a new life, I'll have to find a job that doesn't involve guns and knives. I have to keep Ryan safe, and that line of work won't do it. Maybe I could apply to train people self-defense. But I'm not patient. "What's wrong?" Ryan asks, snapping me out of my thoughts. I place my hand on his shoulder and bring him closer, kissing his hair. "I'm thinking about these hous

JAYDEN'S POV"Jayden!" Ryan excitedly runs to me. I know that they are leaving for the airport in a few minutes. "Hey, kiddo. You ready to leave?" I ask, and he nods excitedly. "So, where are you going to?" I ask hopefully, but as usual, Jada looks like she thought ahead. "Mummy said it was a surprise. Will you come and see us?" "Yes. I will but I'll have to know where you are going to.""We can go and ask my mum." Ryan says, but I shake my head negatively. "I can't, kid. Do you know who your guardian angel is?""My mum." He answers immediately with a straight face, and I laugh. "Yeah. And I'm your mum's but she doesn't know that." I whisper like it's a secret, but he looks at me dumbly. "Then tell her so that you can go with us." He says innocently. I know Jada will appear anytime to look for Ryan. "No, I can't. But take this is my number. Whenever you're both in trouble or need to talk to anyone, just call me, okay? I'll be there." I say, and he looks at the paper that I gi

JADA'S POVI watch Ryan look at his room in awe. He runs to his 'Hulk' themed bed and jumps on it. "This is awesome." He says excitedly as he grins and I smile. Ryan has adjusted to the place, and he loves it here. We moved into the house five days ago, and I had people decorate this room after enrolling him into a school twenty minutes away. "I take it that you love it." I say, and he gives me a cute grin. "Now, for the final surprise..." I say dramatically, making him stop jumping on the bed. He looks at me with a wide smile. "Follow me." I say and start jogging. I hear a thud as he jumps from his bed and follows me to the backyard where I sealed the door with a large cardboard so that he couldn't see. I give him a pair of scissors, and he looks at me curiously. I take him to the sealed door where I placed a ribbon. "And now, for the birthday that I missed, I'd like to present to you my last surprise." I say dramatically, making Ryan chuckle. "A swimming pool?" He asks when I'm

I park my car in front of the hotel that Jayden had agreed on meeting me after dropping off Ryan to his new school. This is it. I'm finally going to find out about my son. I take a deep breath before getting out of the car and handing my key over to the waiting valet. I walk inside where I'm directed to the reserved table, making me confused. I find Jayden enjoying drinking his usual brandy as he looks down at his phone. He stops using his phone when he notices us and stands. He asses me from my head to my dress clad body to my feet and lifts his eyes to me in amusement. He pulls a chair away, and I sit without thanking him. "Wow! Who would have thought Jada Costa would wear a dress willingly?" He says, still amused, and I find myself letting out a smirk, but a file next to him catches my eye, reminding me why he's here. Jayden hasn't changed in the slightest since the last time I saw him, which was two weeks ago. I look at his blue tight shir

JAYDEN'S POV"The team misses you, man. Couch was disappointed at first, but he got over it." Dylan says before gulping down the vodka shot. I look at the dancing bodies in front of me, trying not to think about anything. I had come to the club to clear up my mind, but I bumped into Dylan. After I left the team, I had never contacted anyone else since I was engrossed in finding Leo's killers, who turned up to be the people I trusted enough to be around Leo. My grip on the glass intensifies before I feel it being taken away. I look up to find Dylan looking at me with what I imagine to be pity. Irritation grows at the same time. I want to hit something so bad. "What?" I bark at him, and he scoffs. "You've changed, man. You used to be this cool, easy-going Jayden. You used to be the cool basketball star." He says, and I feel my features harden, and for the first time, he looks at me differently. "I'm not that Jayden anymore. Do

JADA'S POV I told Ryan the truth two weeks ago, even after knowing three months ago. I didn't know how he'd react because he had always known his real mother didn't want him his whole life. How was I supposed to tell him? Hi Ryan, I'm your real mom. Sorry?I told him, and he had an open mind. We hugged, but after the hug, he ran off to his room, and I could hear him cry. "Jada..." I hear the voice of my soul tormentor call. I look at her and let out a breath. "Hmmm?" "You didn't answer my question. Did you tell Ryan about your condition?" She asks, and I let out a breath, then smile thinking about yesterday night. "Yes, I did. And I think it brought us closer." I reveal making Dr. Amanda curious."How so?" "He's happy. He said he's always wanted a sibling." I say laughing at Ryan's face. "What about Jay?" She asks, writing down, and for a second, I get annoyed. These are some of the rea
