Sky POV"He isn't going to thank you for this." Evie warned as I sat on my bed and listened to Neo's voice filtering through the door. I knew it was him without even needing to see his face or hear his voice—the desperation was like a signature scent. "He is such an insufferable dick, though." I muttered weakly. I couldn't help but feel a wave of disdain wash over me. "Do you not think he is trying?" Evie questioned as he reminded me of the time, again. "Nope, I don't trust him, not with his polished Mr. Nice Guy act." I explained because this crap he was pulling barely concealed the machinations underneath."I hope you're wrong." Evie expressed, but I could tell from her tone that she agreed with me. To make him think I couldn't hear him, I turned on the hairdryer, the loud whirring sound filling the room. I wrapped myself in a towel, my hair blown out in loose waves around my shoulders. Checking my phone, I smiled, seeing I had two minutes to get dressed and go down the stairs.

TWELVE

SKY'S POVStanding on the wrap-around porch, I gazed out at the rolling landscape, trying to take deep breaths. The vast expanse usually brought me comfort, but tonight, it felt like a bitter reminder of my isolation. The moon hung low and heavy, casting an eerie glow over the fields that seemed to stretch into infinity. How had my only remaining family turned out to be so cruel and twisted? Why had the moon goddess seen fit to give me a mate who seemed just as heartless? A cold breeze whispered through the tall grass, sending a shiver down my spine. I felt a deep pang of disappointment—things were turning out exactly as I had feared. I knew I shouldn't have let my guard down, even for a moment. I knew better than this; it was just like them to kick me when I was down.As I stared into the distance, my eyes caught the flicker of lights and the distant hum of laughter. Narrowing my eyes, I smirked slightly, seeing some of the pack members heading into the woods. They were around my age,

THIRTEEN

SKY’S POVFalling into step with the female pack member my brother had been dating when I left, I eyed her with a mix of curiosity and intrigue. This wasn't the Lucy I remembered. When I had left, she was loud, confident, and absolutely fearless—the kind of girl who commanded attention just by strutting into a room. But the girl beside me now was a shadow of her former self: meek, nervous, and so jumpy it was as if she expected the ground to swallow her up any second."What happened to you?" I asked, my eyes locking onto hers as I tried to decipher the changes in her demeanour."The same thing that happened to you," she laughed, but it was hollow, without joy. She picked up her pace, almost as if she was trying to escape from her own words. Confused and a bit alarmed, I tried to follow her through the crowd, calling out to her like a dumbass."Lucy, wait!" But she didn't stop. There was something big here, something I was missing, and it nagged at me, tugging at the edges of my conscio

FOURTEEN

NEO’S POVAs I sat at the head of the long, ornate dining table, my blood boiled beneath the surface. The scent of the lavish meal in front of us wafted through the air—roasted meats glistening under the chandelier, vegetables seasoned to perfection, and decanters of wine reflecting the flickering candlelight. But despite the exquisite setup, steam seemed to rise not just from the food but also from my head, my temper simmering just beneath the surface.I glanced at my watch without needing to; I knew exactly how late she was. Thirty-three minutes. Unacceptable. Punctuality was non-negotiable; any deviation was an affront to my authority. Sky's tardiness was a blatant disregard for both, a direct challenge to the structure I enforced within our pack.As I stewed in my growing anger, vivid fantasies of retribution played in my mind—dragging her out by her hair, locking her away until she learned obedience. The image of her, forced to submit and behave, the harsh discipline stripping aw

Zeke's POVThe heavy oak dining table groaned under the weight of untouched food, the flickering candlelight casting long shadows across the stone walls. Plates clinked, and silverware scraped, but I barely heard any of it. My foot tapped an impatient rhythm beneath the table, the sound drowned by the murmuring voices of the pack's higher ranks.I was waiting.Waiting for the idiot, Neo had sent upstairs to return with Sky. Leon had never been the sharpest tool in the shed; he was clumsy, slow and overindulged in the luxuries he had inherited and coasted through pack ranking thanks to Daddy's title and standing. But we all knew he was a polished turd.Waiting to hear the inevitable crashing, the screaming match that would follow, the fire that always erupted between those two when they were in the same room. But the house was silent.Too silent.I exhaled through my nose, my fingers tightening around the stem of my wine glass as realization dawned on me.She wasn't there.Of course, s

Sky POVThe fire crackled, casting flickering shadows across the clearing, painting everyone in shades of gold and sin. Laughter and music tangled in the air, the deep bass vibrating through my bones, amplifying the delicious burn of alcohol in my veins.I was floating.Weightless.For the first time since coming back, I wasn't thinking about Neo's plans, about Zeke's betrayal, about how much of a mistake this homecoming was.Right now, I was just here. And so was he.I wasn't thinking. I wasn't overthinking. For once, I was just feeling.Mr Interested—whose name I still didn't know and didn't care to ask—had his hands on me, and I wasn't stopping him. His dark eyes burned into mine, his fingers flexing on my waist as we swayed, our bodies dangerously close but not quite touching. The way he moved—confident, assured—told me he was used to getting what he wanted."You dance like trouble," he murmured against my ear, his breath hot and laced with whiskey. I smirked, tilting my head

SEVENTEEN

Sky's POV"Mate, mate, mate!" Evie screamed in my mind, her voice a desperate, purring melody of need. She was practically rolling over in submission, her excitement vibrating through me as if she were pacing just beneath my skin."We are finally here, right where we belong," she sighed happily, her voice thick with longing. "Just a little more, Sky. Feel how he shudders? How his pulse is racing? He wants us—take what's ours!"I exhaled shakily, refusing to give in completely. "Not yet." I breathed. I had given him a taste, but if Zeke wanted more, it was his move now. This game of chess we played had rules—rules I refused to break.I let my lips hover over his, close enough that our breaths mingled, but I didn't close the gap. I wouldn't. He had to do that. But he didn't move. His body was taut, his hands gripping my waist with barely restrained control, but he stayed utterly still, his jaw locked as if holding himself back from something dangerous. A lesser girl might have pulled a

Eighteen

Zeke's POVSky's lips hovered over mine, her breath teasing me, her scent filling my lungs like a drug I couldn't quit. My body was a war zone—wanting, needing, but holding back. If I took her now, I wouldn't stop. I wouldn't let her walk away from me again. And how would that help either of us?I waited.I wanted her to say something—anything. Why did she run? Why did she leave me to face the wreckage of what we could have been alone? But she didn't.Instead, she let her tongue flick out, tasting my lips like a slow, torturous promise. I shuddered, my restraint snapping thread by thread. My hands tightened on her hips, fingers pressing into soft curves that once belonged to me. That should still belong to me.Her smirk was a weapon, sharp and deliberate. She knew exactly what she was doing, rolling her hips against mine, testing, teasing, taunting. And I let her.For a brief moment, it was just us—fire and fury, unspoken words hanging between us, begging to be set free. I wanted to d

Sky's POVPeeking into the large dining room that was once filled with joyful family moments, now felt cold and stiff. Neo sat at the head of the table, swirling his wine lazily, his face the perfect mask of feigned patience. The room was filled with murmured conversation and the clinking of silverware against plates, but I knew everyone was waiting for me.I smirked to myself.Let them wait.By the time I finally strolled in, my hair slightly mussed from the wind and my eyes burning with the thrill of defiance, the entire room fell silent. All eyes turned to me. Some amused, some cautious, and some downright nervous."Did you enjoy your tantrum?" Neo asked as he took a slow sip of his wine, his lips curving at the edges."Immensely." I rolled my eyes, stepping further into the dining hall. "You should try it sometime—might get rid of that stick up your ass."Several pack members inhaled sharply. A few exchanged glances, some even smirked behind their glasses, but no one dared to laug

Zeke's POVI sat at the table, my body rigid, my jaw clenched so tightly it felt like my teeth might crack under the pressure. My eyes never left Sky, tracking her every move with the precision of a hunter—not for prey, but for protection. She was playing a dangerous game, one only she seemed to think she could win.Neo swirled his wine, his face an impassive mask, but I knew better. His patience had limits, and Sky was testing every single one of them. The pack members ate cautiously, avoiding eye contact, all hyperaware of the tension thick enough to suffocate the entire room.Sky sat there like she owned the damn place. Picking food off plates, tossing taunts like they were casual conversation, all the while smirking at Neo like she knew exactly how close he was to snapping.I had to give it to her. She wasn't afraid.Or maybe she was, but she refused to show it.That terrified me.I kept my posture relaxed, pretending to sip from my glass, but my attention was split between the tw
