The carriage came to a slow stop and the driver alighted from his bench. After smoothening an invisible wrinkle on his shirt, he turned to my door and, with a short bow, pulled it open. Smiling, I thanked him and was about coming down when Alexander gently grabbed my arm. "No, no, no," he said, shaking his head. "Let me do the honors, Elora." I blushed, pulling behind my ear a stray strands of hair as I slowly nodded. Chuckling softly, Alexander opened his door and gracefully stepped down from the carriage.
