THE BLUR

I paused my eating and crouched as my eyes turned to the window. Small murmurs and laughter echoes from outside as large shadows passes by. I turned my gaze to an open window before bringing it to the slowly approaching figures. I muttered a cuss under my breath as I quickly left the table and ran to the window. Carefully, I crawled out the small space, careful to not let any of the broken glass cut me, and landed softly on the grass outside just as the wolves pushed the door open. "Go drop the spoil at the back so we can go on with our feast," I heard one of the wolves say. Whoever he had been speaking to grunted in response, and I heard the heavy footsteps grow louder. My heart raced as I crouched lower, trying my best to stay hidden behind the tall bushes by the house. The scent of the wolves filled the air, sharp and pungent, and I knew at once that they were rogues. Why was I always stumbling into them? Keeping low, I crept along the side of the house, moving silently throu

WOUNDED

I sat on the ground in silence, staring at the man's outstretched bloodied hands. I didn't know know what to say as my mind still struggled to process all that I had just witnessed. The chase, being close to death, the blur, and now this stranger standing before me, offering his hands as though we were close friends-I just didn't know how to react to it all. The smile on the man's face remained, widening as he withdrew his hands back. His strange expression seemed out of place, a stark contrast to the blood-soaked chaos before me, but still, I couldn't deny the fact that I felt some kind of... safety in his presence. "You're not good with strangers, I see," the man said as he unsheathed a bloodied sword from his side that I had not seen in his hands before. Part of the blade that was not covered in blood gleamed in the sunlight as he wiped it with a small rag. "And you seem to be the quiet type too." "I'm... I'm sorry," I muttered, my voice barely a whisper. My gaze flickered from

I Don't Need Healing

"You're... you're saying, I'm with child?" "Well, yes, you're with child," the old man said with a small chuckle as though I had said something funny. He looked up from what he was doing and his smile immediately faded away as he saw the expression on my face. He paused, his hands hovering over the bottles on my bed. "You didn't know?" Before I could give an answer, the door suddenly opened and both our eyes turned towards it. Standing by the doorway was Alexander, the man who had rescued me earlier. His intense gaze moved from the old man to me and I saw a look of concern in his eyes. "You're awake," he said softly as he walked into the room and closed the door behind him with a soft click. Unwrapping his sheathed sword from his side, he walked over to my side and sat on a small stool by the bed. His eyes lingered on me for some moments before turning to the old man. "How is she, Azreon?" "She's actually getting better," the old man replied as he poured the content of one of the

BLOODIED

I sat up on my bed after hearing light knock on the door. Adjusting my duvet over myself and patting down my dishevelled hair, I called for the person outside to come in. The door creaked open slowly and in walked a young maidservant. She had a small tray on her hands with a cloche on top. I presumed she was bringing me my breakfast. "Good morning, miss," she greeted with a small smile as she closed the door slowly with her foot. "How do you see your room?""It's... good," I answered with a small sigh as I relaxed my back against my beds headboard. I watched as she walked over to my bedside table and placed the tray on it. Turing to me, she smiled warmly and said, "it's good to hear that, miss." "Thank you," I replied to her softly, returning her smile with a faint one of my own. "But... I prefer you call me by my name and not... Miss." She stared at me for a few moments, a somewhat blank expression on her face. It didn't take too long for me to realize that she was waiting for me

REVELATIONS

I froze, almost stumbling to the ground as I sighted the weapon in the Alpha's hands. My heart pounded in my chest as my eyes locked with his. He seemed to be asking me something as his mouth moved but everything sounded distant. "... you okay?" I managed to catch a few of his words, though my mind struggled to process them amidst the stirring anxiety in my chest. "Yeah, I'm... I'm okay," I stuttered after I had found my voice. I tried to steady myself on the crutches but they kept on slipping under me. "I'm... I'm actually--WHOA!!!" The crutches suddenly slipped from beneath me, causing me to lurch forward. Instinctively, I reached out for support, but all I caught was air. Suddenly, I heard a small whiz and a flash of red blur. Before I could process what was happening, I found myself stopped by strong, firm grip. I was then pulled upright and steadied, my heart still racing. I looked up to see Alexander's golden eyes focus on mine intensely, the look of concern in them. "You ha

COMFORT AND CONFESSIONS

Alexander listened attentively to me as I began my story. His expression and demeanor remained the same throughout-curious filled. I narrated to him how I was sold by my father to Alaric for the sake of his kingdom and how I had been treated nicely at first in Alaric's mansion only to have my heartbroken when my own cousin was revealed to be his Luna. I told him about my journey through the forest and how many times I avoided death by rogues. I revealed everything to him-all except my pregnancy. Alexander relaxed in his seat after I had finished telling my story. His eyes remained fixated on me, his expression now stoic. I held tight the wine glass in my trembling hands as I tried to read the thoughts behind his new demeanor. After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke. "I'm sorry about what happened to you," he said with a voice so calm that it managed to relaxed my nerves. "What your father did... it's unacceptable and all that you went through in Alaric's hand..." he paused,

COLD, SHARP EDGE

I walked through the crowded field, taking cautious steps as I tried to evade the feet of the people around me. The bright moonlight above me should have illuminated my path but the entire place was so filled that I could not even see the ground. My dress, a dark blue gown that Caroline had picked out for me, flowed down to my feet, hiding the flat soled shoe that I had worn so as not to stress my ankle. It occasionally caught on people's feet as I made my way through the crowds, making each step stressful to take. Frustrated, I lifted the dress up and continued, searching the sea of people for any familiar face that I could interact with. I caught sight of Caroline across the field, standing close to the refreshment table. She held in her hands a small tray stacked neatly with drinks. I was a little bit surprised to see that she was dressed in a flowing red gown and not a servant uniform like I had seen in Alaric's pack. "Caroline," I called, my voice barely audible in the chatter

CLOSE TO DEATH

The sharp blade pressed against my neck and I felt it's tip begin to tear through my skin. A stinging pain hit me and I winced as I felt a warm liquid rolling down from my neck into my dress. My breaths heightened even as I tried not to panic. Different thoughts raced wildly through my head as I tried to figure out who the man behind me was and how I was so easily led into his trap. "Don't make a single noise," the man behind me said as his grip around my waist tightened. "We don't want anyone looking for you now, do we?" I swallowed hard as the man slowly began to lead me further away from the party. I made to turn my head but then he pressed the knife harder against my neck and I froze. Suddenly, a thought hit me. Where was the little boy? I glanced down without moving my neck and saw that the hands that had clasped mine were now gone. There was no trace of the little boy anywhere. It was like he had disappeared into thin air. "Looking for the little boy, eh?" my captor whispe

ANOTHER RESCUE

Alexander stood in the middle of the chaos, his wolf form tall and menacing. His face was still visible within the cluster of failure and his fangs now bigger, gleamed in the moonlight. His golden eyes were fixated on the rogues as a low growl escaped his lips. I looked down at hus hands and saw that his claws were now shot out and bloodied. "You terrorize my kingdom and now terrorize my guest," he growled with a deep voice that causes even me to shiver. "I killed your brothers and let you guys go as a warning but you deemed it fit to come back, disrupt my party and try to kill the one under my protection?" He snarled loudly. "Touch her again, and I will tear every single one of you apart."The rogue who had ordered the others to kill me walked towards Alexander, his face squeezed into a frown. He brought his blade to Alexander's face and traced it's edge from his neck up to his chin. "You protect a stranger whom you have no knowledge about," he said in a voice barely audible as he

PENT UP REVELATION

I sat on a small bench outside the meeting room, listening to the soft mutters inside. Alexander and the pack elders were having another meeting and I could tell that they were discussing about me. Occasionally, I caught whispers of my name but I could t grab much to piece together what I was doing in their conversation. After what felt like hours, the mutters finally stopped, signalling the end of the meeting. I heard the shuffle of footsteps begin to approach the door and I quickly composed myself. One by one, the elders walked out of the meeting room, their eyes glancing in my direction before they walked away. The last elder finally walked out of the room and I immediately rose from my seat and entered. Alexander sat on a large throne at the far end, his eyes scanning a scroll in his hands. His brows furrowed as he read through the content, and I could tell that whatever it was, it seemed far more serious than the question I had to ask him. I concluded on asking him later and
