"They must have taken care of the beta wolves by now," Albert muttered, more to himself than to Jane. His eyes scanned the crowd again. But he couldn’t see anything—just shadows of men, whispers of movement. "Have they?" he asked finally, turning back to Jane. His voice was low, tinged with a newfound sense of calm, though his mind still buzzed with tension. "Did your men handle the situation like you said they would?"Jane stepped a little closer, her presence almost comforting, yet there was always that lingering air of mystery about her.
