. Chapter 21Fredrick's POVI was busy on my laptop when I got a call. It was from my secretary, Lyla. I took it and put it on a loudspeaker. I was still busy on my laptop."Yes?" "Mr. Mikealson is on the line, he said he wants to speak with you urgently." She said.Mr Mikealson was one of my important clients who I didn't mess with. Some clients would call me unexpectedly and I wouldn't talk to them when I was busy. But Mr Mikealson was very important."Should I put him?" She asked."Yes, put him through," I said and put me through to him."Mr Flame Hills," he called."Mr Mikealson, it's nice to hear from you again. How have you been?" I asked.Mr Mikealson was one of my best clients. We weren't close but he was one of my few friends."I've been well. What about you?" He asked."I'm okay. What with the sudden call?" I asked him."Sorry to barge in on you. I know this was without warning but I need to talk to you." He said."Talk to me about what?" I asked."Not over the phone. It

Rbtca 23Chapter 23Adrianna's POV Jackson and Hayley's school was closer to home than work. I would have to drop the kids off first and meet with the principal since it was their first day.But I couldn't do that. I was already late. I told Steven to do that for me. But that only meant I had to get a cab when we got to the school. I couldn't wait for Steven to go meet the principal and drive me.When we got there, I waved my kids bye and took off. It was hard convincing them of a good reason why I wasn't going with them. It was difficult getting a cab. It took some time before I eventually got one.The driver dropped me in front of the company. I quickly ran out of the cab. "You haven't paid yet!" The man shouted."Shit!" I muttered as I ran back.I searched for a change but I had no idea why it was so difficult. As I looked for it, everything dropped from my bag and landed on the floor."Are you kidding me?!!" I shouted.Of all days Amelia thought to mess me up, she had to the it o

Rbtca 24Chapter 24Fredrick's POVWe were still in the office. It was as if time slowed down, and it was favoring me. I have waited for this day for so long. There was no space between us. Her lips were soft and tender. She tried to hesitate but I didn't let her. Her hesitation stopped, and the kiss deepened into a passionate one. I pulled her closer and slid my hands around her waist. My fingers pierced into her skin as I didn't want to let go.It was as if all the feelings I tried to hide were being let out in the form of a kiss. In that moment, nothing else mattered. I just didn't want this moment to end.I had imagined this kiss for so long. I felt her weak hesitation but it was no match for me.But, suddenly, she looked at me with anger in her eyes. I felt her hands on my chest, it wasn't a show of pleasure but she was trying to resist me.She pushed me away with a surprising strength. Sure she was a werewolf, but I didn't expect her strength to compare to mine. Her eyes met min

Chapter 25Adrianna's POVI went back to my seat. I felt like going home because I wasn't in a good mood but I knew that wouldn't be a good idea.I was so angry at myself. I remember at some point, I relaxed while he was kissing me and I hated it. Why would he kiss me like that?I tried to focus on my work. I was already late, so I had a lot to do. A pile of papers stacked in front of me, on my table. I bent my head down on the table. I tried to go back to myself unless I couldn't focus on my work."Are you okay?" I heard someone ask.I stood up and it was Lyla. "Yeah, I guess, "I responded."What happened? How did it go?"She asked. How was I to answer her right now? Instead of Fredrick being angry at me for coming late, he kissed me instead."It…uhh.."I tried to explain but Lyla looked behind me and quickly went back to her position. She looked like she was scared.I turned to see who she saw, it was Fredrick. I prayed he wasn't coming to meet me. If he was, I could flip. He walked

Chapter 26Adrianna's POV.The journey back to the school took a lot of time but it was better than a cab. If I decided to stay back and find a cab, I was certain I would still be there by now.If it was for my kids, I was ready to accept requests from Fredrick. Even if I hated him, I needed his help this time. I couldn't be stubborn at a time like this.We finally got to the school. The school compound was empty. There was no sign of anyone around. We arrived there almost five. I prayed the kids were safe. I was already freaking out.I ran into the school looking for them. No one was around. "Jackson! Hayley!"I called out to them."Hayley!!"I shouted.I heard the sound of a door unlocked behind me and I turned around. I saw them come out from a classroom with a lady with them. "Mom!"They both ran towards me."Oh, my babies," I said, hugging them. "I'm so sorry for coming late," I told them."Hi, I'm Mrs Smith. I'm their homeroom teacher."The Lady said stretching up her hands. She wa

Chapter 27Fredrick's POVAfter dropping Adrianna and her kids home, I didn't go back to the office, instead, I went home. A lot was on my mind and I needed to think about it.I was feeling very restless after seeing Adrianna's children. I have never had that kind of connection with children before so I wouldn't know what it meant. But whatever it meant, I needed to find out why I was so drawn to them.I decided to make inquiries. I picked up my phone and decided to call someone who might be able to help me out. The phone rang for a while before he finally answered. "Fredrick," Steven called. "Hey, Steven." "Hey, why the sudden call?" He asked surprisingly. "Did Adrianna do something?" "Why? Is it a crime to call my future brother-in-law?" I said. "And Adrianna hasn't done anything, she's been working hard." I told him.She had been walking hard but the part where she hadn't done anything to offend me was a lie. I could begin to list them if I wanted her fires but this wasn't the

Chapter 28Fredrick's POV,We didn't talk too long, and then Steven left. I sat at the counter, taking my third drink. I could hear music playing. But it wasn't the music everyone was dancing to before. It was changed to a kind of music that felt distant. It had been five years since that night, I buried it because I felt bad about the fact that I never got to see her face. But fate had a cruel way of bringing past mistakes back to the present. And today, it hit me hard when I found out Adrianna was the one.The girl who I took advantage of out of recklessness. The girl whose life I destroyed. And those kids she had now, were mine.I slammed the glass on the counter, the impact causing everyone to stare at me but I didn't care. The bartender glanced at me with concern all over his eyes but he didn't dare say anything.Maybe because he was scared and didn't want to get involved, or maybe he was just used to seeing broken men at the counter. The memory of Adrianna haunted me. I never th

Chapter 29Adrianna's POVWhy Fredrick was acting strangely? I had no idea. Why he raised his voice at me when I was only being nice, I didn't know. I wondered what made him so angry this morning. He was all nice yesterday and suddenly he lashed out at me for no reason.I was only thanking him and being nice. This is what happens when you try to be nice to an arrogant wolf-like Fredrick. It was my mistake, one I would never make again."What did you do now?"Lyla asked.Lyla was one of the very few people I talked to at work. She assisted me with some of my work since she was also a secretary. Other than that, she tells me about the do's and don'ts of Fredrick. Things I should know to avoid being fired. She was the reason why I was still here. She reminded me to always apologize to Fredrick even if I didn't want to.Some mornings I see him walk into his office and feel like he can get his coffee himself.I don't say it out loud just in my thought. But she always tried to remind me eve

Chapter 30Adrianna's POV"Ahh…"Fredrick startled me. I turned around and everyone was staring at me. My scream must have disturbed them."Sorry. Sorry, everyone. "I said softly. He just showed up out of nowhere.I turned to Fredrick and he was still there. "I told you to stop doing that. What do you want? Do you need anything?"I whispered. "Sir?"I added.I wondered if he heard my conversation with Shawn. He didn't have the right to eavesdrop on my conversation. "I'm sorry."He said, disrupting my thoughts. His eyes showed remorse in them. "What?""I'm sorry," he apologized."You're sorry?"I joked while smiling. "For what exactly?""For yelling at you. I was going through something when you came in. I didn't mean to respond to you like that. "He elaborated."You are sorry?"I asked him.It was surprising to see him apologize. Not that he hadn't done it before but today seemed different."Yes, I am. I am."He added."Suree. That isn't weird at all."I stated."I'm being serious right no
