“What the fuck!” Anna yelled. Her eyes widened in disbelief with her mouth ajar. She just finished preparing Cohen’s meal and had already set the table before she walked to the sitting room and saw the news Charlotte was watching. Charlotte turned her neck to glance back at her. “What’s the matter?” She asked with a concerned tone. Anna slowly raised her hand and pointed her finger at the television, shaking in bewilderment. “The news?” She said, her voice stammering in fear. “Chairman Hewitt has been arrested.” Charlotte nodded. “Yes, is there anything wrong with it?” She asked, unclear. “Why are you like this? Don’t you like that?” “But ma…” Anna wanted to talk, but the fear rotting in her mind at the moment held her back. “Anna, don’t worry. I still hate Patricia and I can never support her for any reason,” Charlotte said in a persuading tone. She thought Anna was like that because she was in support of chairman Hewitt's arrest. “I am just happy they found the culprit,” she ex

Chapter 72

“What do you know about it, sir?” Romeo interrogated, maintaining his composure. Chairman Hewitt was a prominent person, so Romeo put in an effort to keep his voice low and calm to avoid sounding rude or harsh. “If you tell me the truth, we may find a solution to it.” He lied, trying to lure him into admitting his offense. Chairman Hewitt fearlessly raised his gaze and snickered. “I know nothing about it.” He insisted. The interrogation started about an hour ago, and despite Romeo’s effort, Chairman Hewitt kept defending himself and refused to accept guilt. “But sir, we have evidence,” Romeo let out. “Just tell the truth so we can save our time. We can’t waste much time or else the matter will get out of reach.” “Evidence?” Chairman Hewitt repeated, amazed. He chuckled for a second and raised a question. “Are you talking about the audio Patricia played? Hun?” Without giving Romeo a space to answer, he poured out. “You are a prosecutor with years of experience. Can’t you figure

chapter 73

“Can I go in to see him now?” Bastian raised a question, standing on his feet to walk closer to Romeo, who was just coming out of the interrogatory room. Romeo stopped walking and waited for Bastian to arrive in his front. “Bastian.” He called. “Thank you, Romeo.” Bastian showed gratitude. “You’re welcome. Besides, I am just doing my job. I am through with him. You can now see him.” Bastian and Romeo shook hands, and Bastian walked into the corner that led into the interrogatory room. The guy at the entrance opened the door for Bastian and he entered. Immediately, as Bastian stepped in, Chairman Hewitt cracked up. “Why are you here?” He threw a question. “You led me here already, do you come to mock me?” Bastian walked closer. He curtsied his head and sat down. Chairman Hewitt snickered. “You are even showing me respect?” He murmured. Bastian drew the chair closer and sat down. “Good day, sir,” he greeted, inquiring, “how have you been?” “Trust your day has been good?” He as

chapter 74

“What are you talking about, Bastian?” Patricia asked, frowning her forehead, confused. She patiently listened to Bastian explain himself for minutes, leaving her in confusion about what he was talking about. “What do you mean you will release chairman Hewitt if he holds a press conference?” “Calm down, Patricia.” Bastian said. Patricia nodded and calmed herself. “Okay.” “Don’t you believe me anymore, Patricia?” Bastian raised a question. “I do. But-” Patricia wanted to speak, but couldn’t complete her statement to not sound rude. “Patricia, let Chairman Hewitt apologize in public. Please.” He implored. “Bastian, Chairman Hewitt's public apology isn’t a problem.” She poured out. “Then what’s it? Hun?” He inquired. “Bastian, you and I know clearly that everything chairman Hewitt said is true,” she split out. “There is a mastermind behind it. Someone gave him all the information and I need to know the person. I want to know.” “Yes, Patricia. I had the same belief as you till I

Chapter 75

Bastian had Ailee go over to Maximo company to help chairman Hewitt set everything since Esther wasn’t around. Ailee walked into chairman Hewitt’s office and curtsied her head. “Everything is ready, sir,” she reported. “The reporters are here. You can come out now.” Chairman Hewitt exhaled deeply. Bastian has bailed him out of the cell, but his mind still wasn't at rest. A part of his mind encouraged him to believe in Bastian and did as he suggested, but he couldn’t take the negative thought out of his mind. ‘What if Bastian just wants to use me?’ ‘What will happen next?’ ‘Should I believe Bastian and Cohen or should I just mention Anna’s name?’ His mind paved way to lots of questions since he had left the prosecutor's custody and he was yet to find an answer. “Can you hear me, sir?” Ailee inquired, observing chairman Hewitt’s face. He expected him to say a word or stand up already, but he didn’t react. Chairman Hewitt raised his gaze, a shocked tone escaping his mouth. “Uhn!”

chapter 76

Chairman Hewitt stepped into the press hall through the right entrance and all eyes set on him. The camera men turned the cameras in his direction and speedily shot pictures. Chairman Hewitt walked to the stage at a slow pace, dragging his feet in a short stride with his face shamefully cast downward. He arrived at the stage with Ailee’s accompaniment and Ailee stepped aside, giving him a space to walk forward to the podium at his convenient pace. Chairman Hewitt stood behind the podium, still fixing his eyes on the ground. The crowd eagerly waited for minutes, expecting chairman Hewitt to say a word already, but he didn’t. “Sir, will you start now?” Sofia threw a question. “Time is going, please.” “Will you speak or delay?” “Why did you call us if you weren’t ready to speak?” “Should we just cancel this?” “Talk, sir.” “Say something.” “Should we just leave?” The reporters protested, tired of waiting for him to start. Ailee bit the left part of her lower lip and took a fe

Chairman Hewitt entered his office, and met Bastian already waiting for him. Bastian stood on his feet and curtsied his head. “Sir.” He said, unable to add another word. Chairman Hewitt cracked up. He walked closer and sat on the other sofa, facing Bastian. “Bastian,” he called. Bastian sat down. He sighed and cast his face downward. “I told Romeo to close the case. You won’t return to the station again.” He proclaimed. Chairman Hewitt tightened his lips, nodding, “thank you, Bastian.” Bastian furrowed his face, chuckling, “you don’t need to thank me. This is a close deal. I promised to get you out if you keep Anna’s involvement a secret.” “I know, but I still want to thank you. What can I do if you didn’t fulfill your promise?” Chairman Hewitt expressed. “You can do a lot. It’s so easy for you to reveal the secret.” Bastian pointed out. “Yes, it is. But I will not. Never.” Chairman Hewitt poured out. “You won’t?” Bastian let out in an amazed. “Why? I mean, why won’t you revea

{Ten days later} Patricia’s car arrived in front of the company and immediately as she got down, she saw Bastian walking out. Bastian walked to her front with a smile. “Madam president.” “Is this out of respect or mockery?” She inquired, giving him confused side eyes. He beamed. “Mockery,” he answered in simplicity. “Isn’t that the nickname Sofia gave to you?” She beamed for a few seconds. “Where is Ailee?” She inquired. “She isn’t back yet.” He responded. “Where is she? Where did she go?” She interrogated. “Did you send her on an errand?” “No. She escorted chairman Hewitt to the airport.” He explained. “Why?” She sounded amazed and confused. “Wasn’t the plan for you to see him off?” “It’s supposed to be both of us, but menstrual cramps did a successful job,” she voiced out. “Why will you let Ailee go instead of you? I don’t like that.” “I didn’t let her go. Chairman Hewitt requested for her,” he explained. “I was already at his place to pick and drop him at the a

Chapter 79

Anna walked into the room. She closed the door behind her and relaxed her back on it, watching Cohen, who was still sleeping. Seeing the transparent of a peaceful smile on Cohen’s closed eyes, a smile slowly summed up on her face. “This is good,” she whispered. It has been a long time since Cohen last slept in that manner; it was either he woke up in shock or got up early with rage. “I hope you will accept your fate. I wish you can forget Patricia and let us live a peaceful life we have always lived before Patricia shows up,” she said in silent. She discharged a heavy breath and walked closer to the bed at a slow pace. “Cohen,” she called in a low voice, with three steps remaining before she arrived at the bed. “Cohen,” she called again, taking the last step. She arrived beside the bed and stared at his face, and seeing he was still happy in his dream, she couldn’t help but let a bright smile fill her lips. “I wonder if the dream is about me or her,” she murmured. “Al

{Monday morning}Cohen knocked and slowly opened the door. And he walked in with a file in his hand.Patricia was making corrections in a file in front of her, so she raised her head, and seeing Cohen, she continued working on the file.Cohen arrived in front of her desk and slightly bent his neck. “Good day, ma.” He greeted, with his hands hung behind him, trying his best to sound and act formal. She stopped writing and put the pen inside the file. She closed the file and raised her gaze to look at his face. “Good day, Mr. Cohen,” she responded. “How have you been?”“Fine, ma.” He responded. She stretched her right hand to the chair. “Have your seat, please,” she offered. “Thank you, ma.” He let out. He drew the chair closer and turned it before sitting down, with his face cast downward a bit. He was trying to copy his staff members' behavior whenever they were in front of him.She relaxed her back on the chair backrest and placed her elbows on the armrest. “Anna has gone to get me
