Finding Linda
Chris’s POV“Jack, what’s the update?” I asked, my voice edged with anticipation. “Yeah, um, Chris, I’ve got something big,” Jack’s voice crackled through the speaker. “I have managed to track down your father’s location. Right now, he’s at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of a town out of the city.” A surge of adrenaline coursed through me at Jack’s words. Finally, we had a lead. “That’s great news, Jack. But in your professional opinion, do you think that’s where he might be holding my wife hostage?” A small pause lingered and the guy responded, “Man, I don’t know. But from the work I have done, that’s where he goes about every day. Why would he be going to an abandoned warehouse?” I nodded as if he could see me. “You’re right. Thanks for the update, I will head there right away.” “Sure, but you know how your old man can be, be careful, Chris,” Jack warned, hs tone grave. “This place is also heavily guarded. You will need backup.” I glanced at Fallon, who nodded in agre

Time To Escape
Linda’s POVFor the past day or two, Kirby had been treating me way better than she ever did in the beginning. And I knew why, of course, I knew. It was because of the baby that was inside of me. She kept bringing me good food and juices. At some point, she even brought some vitamins. I think she believed in some way, deep down, that this was her way of taking care of the baby that she had lost. I felt for her, I did. Imagine losing the love of your life and then losing the baby that you were supposed to have for him. So in a way, it did make sense why she was so hardhearted and cold. I was full, I had just eaten and there was some pain between my legs but it was much better than when the morphine had finally worn off. I was sitting on the mattress, lying my back against the wall. Then the door suddenly opened, Kirby rushed in and closed it. I knew that Mr. and Mrs. Kingston were out there, it was already explained to me that I was about to be transferred somewhere else; I think i

The Sounds Of Gunshots
Linda’s POVKirby was strong because if it was me, I would have folded long since. She held Mr. Kingston's gaze with unwavering determination, her stance firm and unyielding. Despite the tension crackling in the air, she remained composed, her eyes flashing with defiance. The man’s suspicion seemed to deepen as he studied her, his gaze flickering between Kirby and me. It was clear that he wasn’t convinced by her explanation, but for the moment, he seemed willing to set aside his doubts in favor of survival. “Fine,” He said, at last, his voice low and grudging. “But keep a close eye on her. We can’t afford any more surprises.” Kirby nodded, her expression neutral as she turned her attention back to the task at hand. “Understood,” She replied briskly, her tone leaving no room for argument. With a heavy sigh, Mr. Kingston leaned against the wall, his shoulders tense with anticipation. Mrs. Kingston hovered nearby, her expression a mixture of fear and determination. I noticed that sh

Ambulance
Linda’s POVThe gunshot was loud, it echoed through the shed, the sound reverberating off the walls as if time itself had frozen in that moment. I crumpled to the ground, my heart pounding in my chest as terror seized every fiber of my being. But as the seconds stretched on, I realized with a sense of bewildered relief that the bullet had not found its mark. I was still alive, still breathing, though the fear lingered like a heavy weight upon my chest. Through blurry eyes, I saw Chris burst through the door, his expression a mix of panic and determination. He rushed to my side, pulling me into his arms with a tenderness that brought tears to my eyes. “Police! Drop the weapon!!” One of the policemen shouted at Mr. Kingston, his voice strong and commanding as his colleagues flooded the small shed. “Linda, are you okay?” His voice was a desperate plea, his hands gentle as they cradled my trembling form. I nodded weakly, my voice catching in my throat as I struggled to find the words

It's All Going To Be Fine
Linda’s POVChris’s relief was palpable as he reached out to gently graph my hand. His touch brought a sense of warmth and reassurance, grounding me in the reality of our shared ordeal. “You gave us quite a scare,” He continued, his voice soft with emotion. “But you’re here now, and that’s all that matters.” He smiled, and I hated that I could not smile back. I mustered a weak nod, my throat was still dry and scratchy as I struggled to find my voice. “What…what happened?” I managed to croak out, my words barely audible above the soft hum of the medical equipment surrounding us. He sighed, his expression somber as he recounted the events that had led us to this moment. He spoke of the frantic rush to the hospital, the chaos of the emergency room, and the tense hours spent waiting for news of my condition. I wanted to know something though, I wanted to know about the baby. Was my baby okay? Was my baby alive? “Can I speak with the doctor?” I tried to sit up but pain shot through my

I Found Out
Linda’s POVWhen the doctor left, the thought of a bullet inside of me still scared me, it was something that made me feel weird. She had told me that I could do other things but I should not do aggressive movements or very abrupt ones, especially because the bullet was not very far from where the baby was. I was left in the room with Chris, he had a look on his face as if he was thinking deeply. I watched him stare at the TV that was not even on. His eyes had swirls of worry and anxiety. “Chris?” I called him out of his trance and he turned to me, flashing me a smile that looked forced. “Are you okay?” He nodded passionately. “Mm-hmm, I am. Why would I not be?” He chuckled nervously. “Okay,” I dragged the word a bit. “So, you said that you had something to talk about, right?”He forced another smile, his face getting pale. “Yeah, yeah, sure.” He reached for my hand and held it gently. “But let’s talk about the fact that you’re literally pregnant.” He smiled, revealing his teeth.

Tears And Heartache
Linda’s POVThe tension in the room was suffocating, thick with betrayal and hurt. I could not bring myself to look at Chris, the man I had trusted with my heart, my life, and now, our unborn child. “Linda, please, just hear me out,” Chris pleased, his voice desperate and filled with regret. He reached out to touch my hand, but I recoiled, pulling away from him as if his touch burned. Oh my gosh, tell me that was a dream. Tell me that I was asleep. Tell me that none of this was f*cking happening! Not now. Not when I had just finally gotten free.“There is nothing to say,” I whispered, my voice trembling with anger and pain. “You cheated on me, Chris. You betrayed everything we had.” “I know, and I’m so sorry. I swear, I am,” He continued, his voice cracking as tears escaped his eyes and down his cheeks. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, but please, let me…let me make it right. Or just let me try. Let me try to earn back your trust.” His words felt like a slap in the face, a cruel

Was I Not Enough?
Linda’s POVBut deep down, I knew that wasn’t the case. The pain was too raw, too real to be anything other than the devastating truth. As I lay there in the hospital bed, surrounded by the sterile scent of antiseptic and the incessant beeping of medical equipment, I could not help but feel utterly lost and alone. The tears continued to flow unchecked, a relentless stream of anguish and heartache that seemed to have no end. Each sob wracked my body and as badly as I wanted to know more about the scandal that surrounded my husband, I did not think that I was strong enough. I was still alone in the room, that is until the doctor walked in with a hopeful look. “Hi again.” She smiled at me with comfort. It kind of helped, I believed. Or maybe not and I was just trying to grasp onto anything that might make me forget the emotional pain that I had. I forced a smile and sniffled as I wiped away the tears from my face. “Did you get to my mom? Or my Dad?” She nodded. “Yes, I did. I explai

A Bittersweet Escape
Linda’s POVLeaving China felt like a bittersweet escape. On one hand, I longed for the familiarity of home, the comforting embrace of friends and family who would support me through this ordeal. On the other hand, I dreaded leaving, because it’d feel like I was leaving my life behind; all those memories, both good and bad. As the miles passed by, I found myself clutching onto the sweater on my lap, it was a gift from Chris a few days after our wedding. It brought some warm and ugly feelings but I was not willing to trash it. Did I miss my husband? Yes. Did I want him back? Yes. Did I miss his smile, his cologne, his silliness? Yes, yes, and yes! But I just could not explain it, my heart was not ready. I had taken the time in the hospital to also watch the full Talk Show about the scandal. I had also watched almost all the YouTube videos out there that had mentioned Chris Kingston and Meghan. Apparently, she was in Cyprus, with her boyfriend and was doing everything possible to k

Meeting Him Again
Linda’s POVChris nodded, relief evident in his eyes as he stepped aside to let me pass. We moved to the living room, a space that once held so much laughter and love but now felt heavy with the weight of our broken relationship. Sitting down on opposite ends of the couch, there was clear tension between us and not the fun kind. He fidgeted nervously, his hands clasped tightly together as he searched for the right words. “I don’t even know where to start,” He began, his voice raspy and breathy. “But I do know that I’m sorry for what I did to you. Um, that was messed up, and keeping it from you was even more messed up.” I remained silent, waiting for him to continue, my heart pounding in my chest as I braced myself for whatever he had to say. I was already feeling my throat constricting and a knot forming there but I tried to play it off as best as I could. “I never meant to hurt you, I swear. I was weak and stupid, and I made a terrible mistake; one that you have every right not t
