chapter 111

Exactly how I'd gotten up this morning, I had no idea, but now that I was awake, I wasn't quite sure I liked it either. If I was being honest, I had no idea of what I liked or wanted. I had no idea of anything, anything at all. Except for the fact that Bennett cheated on me. With Emily. And it'd been going on for a while now…“Stop it, Alyssa!” I scolded myself immediately. I must have done that a little too harshly and out loud too, because moments after my mini outburst, a couple of students threw me a barrage of weird glances. It was either that or they'd heard all the tea from the school's blog site. My bets were on the latter though. “ Just fucking stop it.” I sucked in a deep breath. Honestly, it was literally easier said than done. If I was being honest, I had no idea how I was able to survive the hours between yesterday and today. After Cameron had jilted me to go do other important stuff, I found myself wandering around campus. It went on for a while, until I somehow wan

I stood rooted to my spot as I tried to come up with a reasonable explanation as to what was happening. Maybe I was being delusional and simply hallucinating? Or perhaps, somehow, I'd managed to cry myself into a state of shock where anything and absolutely everything could be possible. Because tell me why, I just had to be surrounded by literally the very same people I didn't want to see. “Alyssa?” My blood ran cold at the sound of my name. It was from one person and if someone had told me a time would come where the sound of my name on his tongue would no longer give me butterflies, I would have laughed my head off right at that person. I guess fate did have it's many ways of fucking you over. “ Is that really you?”I pressed my eyes shut, trying my possible beat to tune him out, but it didn't work. The more I tried, the more memories of us started to surface in my mind. “Please look at me.” No matter how mad, how heartbroken I was, I doubted I could stay away from him.

chapter 114

Cameron Time ceased to exist as we all stared each other down, each one of us silently daring the other to move. It was impossible though, we were currently a circle of three different people, so the probability of anyone backing down anytime soon was actually quite low. “What the hell was that supposed to mean?” Bennett spoke up, something unreadable lying underneath his words. I knew exactly what it was, but I ignored it. I wasn't going to indulge him yet. “Cameron!” He yelled again after not getting a response from me. If he wasn't careful, I still wouldn't answer him and he would have to make do with that, whether he liked it or not. “ Have you suddenly gone dead?”“It depends on who's asking.” I finally quipped. “Have you finally come to your senses now?” “What is wrong with you?” Bennett seethed. “ What the fuck has gotten into you?”“Definitely what hasn't gotten to y

chapter 115

I watched as we zoomed past the beautiful buildings, the world on the other side passing by in nothing but a blur. A cacophony of colors swirled against the raindrops that slid down the limousine's windows, giving me a live view of a real-life painting. It was beautiful, and maybe if I was in a better mood, I would have enjoyed it. But now, nothing, nothing else asides from the plan I had in mind could patch up my shattered heart. "... we're late because of you." I found myself tuning into my mother's recent conversation. She was seated opposite me as she lashed out. Whether it was at me or the driver, I wasn't exactly sure. " Do you know what this means?""I'm talking to you Alessia." I guess she actually was talking to me. "What do you have to say for yourself?"" I'm sorry," I mumbled without emotion. Everyone was tensed up, me included, the last thing I wanted was to push my problems on someone else. " I'm really sorry mum. I didn't mean to make us late.""Oh, It's okay. " She

chapter 116

“Are you sure you want to do this, sir?” The voice behind me reached my ears. A quick comeback hung on the tip of my lips, but I held back. Not yet. “ I can arrange something else for you. I'm not trying to impose or anything, I'm just asking because you asked to cancel all of your meetings today.”Silence. I made no move to answer as I kept on walking, my destination painfully etched into my memory. Right now, nothing else mattered more than getting there, no matter how hard the idiot behind me rambled. “Sir?” He called out again and I ground my teeth in anger. I was sure if I kept it on for long, he was bound to hear the sound of my teeth grating against each other and he would take the hint. On second thought, knowing how dumb my employees were, that was actually unlikely. “ Sir, are you listening to me? Also, with the number of potential customers there I feel it's unlikely that we reach a reasonable agreement today and if we don't, it'll be a total waste of time and effort

chapter 117

I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Goosebumps crept on my skin as I shuddered, hoping the sudden shake would knock off the pairs of eyes staring at me. Loud chatters and mumbles filled the room and despite the loud voices, I couldn't make out one word each patron was saying. The stench of alcohol mixed with smoke coiled around me, threatening to knock me out. I flicked my eyes shut as Papa's words rang in my ear. Just go in there and I will take care of it. All you have to do is sit and wait. Apparently, I'd been waiting for hours. The auction had started a good while ago but I was number 10, the last of them all. I felt my stomach churn as I scanned my immediate environment, taking in the view in front of me. Men, ranging from young to old, scattered around the chairs in the auditorium, each one brandishing either a cup of whiskey or a cigarette in one hand. Others had both in their palms and it made me wonder the kind of Psychopaths they were. Amidst the familia

chapter 118

I refused to, I refused to believe it that just like that my fate had been sealed. I'd been bought, sold like some sort of commodity in the market, but that wasn't the worst part. I had no idea who my buyer was. Not even a face to pinpoint and rain curses in the middle of the night. Just a low, smooth and velvety voice to pin the beginning of my suffering on. "Amore." Papa's voice reached my ears. It was a little in the distance but I could hear it quite well. "Amore, where are you?" I said nothing. There was nothing I could say. So I sat there, rooted in my spot with my knees up to my chest as I stared out of the window. The wall length window made it easy to check out the scenery below. From my room up on the first floor, I could make out really small details in the town below. It was dark and supposedly chilly, if the people that hurdled together was a good indication. Even nature understood what I was going through, sadness, disappointment, anger. I hadn't found the right person

chapter 119

I sunk deeper into my skin as I walked down the crowded walkway, without a destination in mind. I adjusted the hoodie over my head to shield my face, not that it mattered though. The sky was gloomy and it looked like it would pour anytime soon. I didn't particularly adore the rain but maybe this time I wouldn't mind it. The weather over here was extreme. Whenever it rained, we were sure to record one casualty, or ten. The last time it rained, a roof from just down the street got knocked down and killed a couple of people. Seven person's, five kids and two adults. So right now, I was actually craving some rain. Maybe it would fall and wash away the nightmare that had now become my fate, or it would procure thunder that would strike the bastard who decided to purchase me with 50 million dollars and he would drop dead, never to bother me again. Maybe, just maybe. I huffed as I shoved my hands into the pockets of my hoodie. I passed by a flower shop and a distinct smell hit my nose; r

chapter 120

I woke up with a start, my lungs begging for air. The ringing in my ears made it hard to think or comprehend anything and the ache in my head was threatening to split my skull into two. I tried to open my eyes but even I knew that would hurt. Literally Out of options, I peeled open my eyes, gently, hoping the very act would somehow subdue the pain. I was wrong, very wrong. I winced as the first few seconds with my eyes open were blurry. I blinked back twice just to come face to face with pristine white walls that seemed to cave in around me, with a red source of light at the top . It seemed to be radiating some sort of heat hence the really hot atmosphere. I took a deep breath and regretted it immediately. I squirmed as It trailed a fiery blaze down my lungs. My skin began to itch and I felt uncomfortable. My throat was parched and my skin sticky with sweat. The slimy liquid stuck to my clothes, making me all the more irritable and frustrated. It took me a good while to realize I wa
