“It's just me,” a voice called out from the building. At first, Vanessa couldn't discern the speaker's identity, but as a figure clad in a bathrobe emerged from the shadows, she recognized the familiar gait of her best friend, Emma. After days without receiving threatening messages, she finally felt a sense of relief. Emma seemed to have backed off from nagging her too, but it was too early to declare it over. Despite this temporary peace, her nerves were still on edge.
