“Hello, Dad,” Selene called out dryly. She remained silent on the phone for a while before responding, “No, Dad. I’m sorry, but I can’t come home just yet.” Selene responded bluntly, turning her back toward Declan afterward. “Okay. We can meet up at the cafe.I have a few minutes to spare.” When she ended the call, Selene took a while to calm down before turning around, “I need to go and see my father at noon, tomorrow.” Declan didn’t refuse her request, but only admonished in a tender voice, “That’s okay.
