Chapter 71

When they first arrived at the cabin, Alpha Henry had tried the door and found it was locked, but for Elizabeth, she simply put her hand on the knob and the door opened; it didn't seem to be locked for her. They began with the mini kitchen. The cabin seemed to have been closed up for a while, but it was bright, other than a little dust.Scanning the little cabin, Young Elizabeth went into the little chamber pot in the kitchen and freshened herself. She took a bucket of water from the water pot and busied herself while Alpha Henry went into the little bedroom. With nothing to do, they sat in the living room and talked about their next plan. Alpha Henry had an easy smile and a peaceful calmness about him that Elizabeth could sense even after just a few words. Quickly recovering from what happened to her, and thankful for the Alpha's intervention in her ruin with the feral. She smiled and nodded, and her eyes almost hypnotised him with a shade of green that seemed to see right through h

Chapter 72

Elizabeth woke when the bed shifted unexpectedly underneath her. There was a cold breeze on her old cotton hip bustle underwear. She found it in the cabin closet earlier. In a sleepy fog, she reached out for Henry on his side, but all she found was the cold moistness of his side of the bed.His pillow was nearly soaked with sweat. Just then, a howl ripped through the stillness of the night. Her heart thumping, she swivelled on her bedside candle lamp. Alpha Henry’s cries and howls led her to him in a corner. The light of the candle lamp scarcely reached him. It cast long silhouettes over the long, thick fingers embedded in his hair. They curled, raven locks whiten in the mixed lamp, and moonlight twined through them, and he grabbed them, letting out another howl and sob. Her heart was speeding and shattering at the same time. It was a moment before she agreed on what to do. She knew by now that sometimes Henry's flashbacks and nightmares would be so horrible that he'd lash out.Not in

Chapter 73

The next morning, Elizabeth wakes up to the steady pattern of rain upon the cabin window, droplets yet to spread the luminous rays of the emerging sun. The sound gives rise to calmness in her mind, a comforting harmony, a raw, gentle lullaby. With eyes at comfort, she feels her centre still a little swollen from their all-night-long endeavour; his essence lives happily within her for these heavenly eternities of intimacy with Alpha Henry."Henry, dear, we need to go now; we don't want to be so late, right? I'm dying to shift into my wolf.” She smiled. Elizabeth knows how he loves to tease him.“As you wish, my love.”After some time and morning lovemaking, they ran towards Eve's cabin. As far as Henry's wolf was concerned, the woman who was happy riding on his back was certainly eager to have her wolf back.In the late afternoon, the two arrived at Edmond's cabin. Upon arriving, they were welcomed by Edmond. After some quick pleasantries, Elizabeth stared at Eve's unconscious body in

Chapter 74

Troll CampThe dark shadows of the night were not demons; they were men. But they were not completely the same type of men that Robah, the river troll, and all their species produced. They appeared more apelike. However, they seemed to walk straight but were hairier than normal, with a stocky, vigorous musculature and pronounced brows and jaws. They wore animal skins and wreaths assembled from the competition they hunted, thus forging the misconception of magical inhabitants in the night.Andrew and Diana watched each other as they were all surrounded, and though the couple knew they could overpower them in a blur, their curiosity was kicking in, so they didn't fight the cave creatures. As the leader of cave creatures guided them in the dark, Andrew realised why he had not sighted them creeping up on the camp and why they appeared to materialise from the rocks themselves. They had materialised from the rocks. They were cavemen and cave residents. They now led Robah’s group through rif

Chapter 75

"Milord, she isn't just a vampire, I believe?” The old man frowned before adding, “I can smell powerful earthy energy radiating from her." Calvin said, his misted eyes so heavily lidded and weighed down with wrinkled folds that it was almost like talking to someone asleep, yet he was quite alert.Andrew nodded his head. “Oh yes. Cavin, Diana is a seer as well, and by the way, is there any way you can help us with Tomas, the werewolf?"Cavin nodded and gestured towards the open door. "You've been busy, milord, these past few centuries, I believe?""Don't ask Cavin. Don't ask. Believe me, it's not like I was meaning to turn that dog, he…"Diana raised her brow at him and said, "Seriously, Andrew? We're back with that again?" she intruded on his sentences by rolling her eyes at him as if trying to make her point clear."Okay, okay. You win." Andrew smiled and turned his head towards Cavin.Cavin was surprised. How on earth did this mighty lord smile like that towards his sired woman? Tha

Chapter 76

The cave entertainers took their places on the floor. There were dozens of them. They were dressed as fighters with the armour of beasts. Lion heads and manes, vulture-winged frocks, and ghostly weapons Andrew had never seen before. Strange swords, armours, and javelins. They immersed themselves in war exercises that seemed more like a dance of acrobatics than about brute vigour or strength. They ebbed and spurted like a stream of water; their actions were fluid, not aggressive. They moved through the air as if they were fish drifting in the water. Leafing and twirling, they barraged and protected with such accuracy and confidence as to transfer the act of fighting into a ballet of beauty.Cavin could not see the dance, but he could feel it. He knew it well. He confessed to Andrew, “They were trained by you, milord. Their ancestors were trained by you. The original keeper of the soul.”"I did?" Andrew frowned as he watched the warriors."Yes, milord. You said it yourself back in the 13

Chapter 77

The next day, Diana and Andrew asked Cavin if anyone in his tribe could draw her grandfather's face. Unfortunately, no one in the cave people was skilled enough for the task, so Diana suggested finding Elizabeth. While Cavin and his tribe stayed with the cave dwellers, a messenger brought back bad news.On another front, the Wetland established a camp at Cold Mountain, actively pursuing outlaw trolls and Northern fairies. They put a bounty on Robah's families and rogues in the highlands and mountain hideouts.Rumours spread throughout the South, dabbling in dark sorcery and creating terrifying creatures. Death fairies from a past battle were said to have risen and joined the South's armies. The purpose remained unclear, causing whispers of conspiracy in the wetland territory. In the plain regions, life was simpler, but for those not serving the wetland lords, survival was challenging.Survival was not in the hands of the masters for the snow tribe of fairies and witches. They numbered

Chapter 78

Eliminating a dozen gigantic ferals wasn't typically this straightforward. The warriors among the ferals had honed their skills over decades, making them a formidable force even for an organised group. Meanwhile, Tommy and Diana swiftly rushed to Jenna's side, anxiously checking for signs of life. "Is she dead?" Diana urgently inquired."I don't know, I'm not sure," Tommy responded while the remaining cavewarriors, cautious of a potential follow-up attack, released the confined humans. With a sense of awe, Tommy carefully raised Jenna from the snow, only to be captivated by her stunning appearance. Adorned with ravishing raven locks, heart-red lips, and a mature figure beyond her years, Jenna was like a breathtaking sunset. "Jenna, are you awake?"As Jenna looked into Tommy's eyes, she noticed him standing atop the defeated feral's chest, smiling in her direction. However, his smile faded to dismay upon seeing her confused expression. Jenna then became aware of an unusual sensation i

When Jenna was fully healed, Cavin ordered them to go to the wetland and gather some information regarding the plan of the south. He told them to be back after tomorrow night and no longer a day, and for what reason he didn't share. The two travelled, Jenna on Tommy's wolf as he galloped towards the wetland. The town of Wetland Pack and its peoples did not have definite boundaries; on its eastern frontiers was the old witch village, whose borders could be more accurately described as boundaries between the nearby Waterland Pack. The town of Wetland and its early dynastic leadership were the first werewolf community to define its borders. Moreover, it was ruled by Alpha George and his son.Later that night, the two entered the town.Tommy has been festering all day. Like a pot of water getting ready to boil over and over again. Maybe if he went for a stroll, it would comfort him, Jenna thought. But after an hour of relentless self-rage, he decided to stroll into the town square. The ni

The mansion of Alpha George lay in the middle, just downriver from the boundary of Whiteland. They had passed the village without stopping to avoid being recognized by his patrol. Even though their escape with the troll had been days earlier, and though Tommy had grown out his hair and beard with the help of Jenna to avoid being recognised as the heir of Whiteland, Alpha George would certainly recognise him. The Alpha would certainly remember his original intent to rescue his father and sister and would certainly not be merciful, especially when his father was still in prison. In the end, the two decided to go back home and report to Cavin the good news. The old man told Jenna to disguise a group of warriors as human hunters and present them as having killed a fugitive from the Whiteland. They covered dead ferals with Whiteland's scent and brought them to the town. The next day, Tommy and his group arrived at the Wetland River wharf, reporting the abduction following a bureaucratic pr
