CLINGING TO LIFE

ANDREAI slowly blinked my eyes open, a foggy haze filling my mind. What happened? The last thing I remembered was feeling lightheaded, and the constant growls in my head that caused severe pain. I must have passed out. Panic shot through me as I looked around the dimly lit room. Cole! I spotted his crib across the room and let out a sigh of relief as I saw his tiny chest rising and falling with sleep. I looked around and found that we were alone in the room. Where was Lily? How did she get me upstairs? By herself, I was sure. The woman was stronger than she let on. As my eyes continued to adjust, I noticed a piece of paper on the nightstand next to me. I picked it up with shaky hands, an unfamiliar handwriting scrawled across it: ‘Andrea, Our pack is being ambushed by rogues. I have to leave to help fight them off and I don’t want to risk waking you and Cole. Stay inside, stay safe. I’ll be back as soon as I can.’My heart pounded reading her hasty words. The pack under

JULIAN

ASPEN I was in a trance, a dream? No. It was something else. I heard Julian’s laughter, it rang in my ears clear as day. I must be hallucinating… Julian isn’t here. “Open your eyes kid, stop being so afraid of such things…” I heard his voice say those familiar words and I realized, it wasn’t hallucination, it was a memory. Slowly I opened my eyes and the blue eyes of my brother met mine. He stood tall, towering over me. I was almost the same height as he was but that did nothing to lessen how intimidated I felt in his presence. He flashed me his usual killer smile and gestured at the lobsters in the pots being boiled alive. I didn’t want to see them, I knew they’d be in pain and goddess knew I hated inflicting pain to anyone or anything. Yet. My brother was always more his wolf than he was a person, he seemed to derive pleasure from causing pain and sometimes even feeling it. “You’re a grown ass man now, yet still close your eyes when you see a bunch of fish being boiled ali

ONLY ONE HE TRUSTS

ANDREA His hands in my grasp were too cold and his skin too pale, this wasn’t the sight of Aspen I was used to and the thought and visual of it scared me. His chest rose and fell dangerously slow and his breathing sounded more like wheezing, shallow, almost like it would stop at any given moment. I was scared. Admitting it to myself made it easier for me to accept. That I have feelings for him. I didn’t let go of his hand, not even when Lily had rushed into the cabin with the pack doctor that had treated Cole. We had to move him upstairs, lay him down on the bed and strip off pieces of his clothes just so we could have easier access. He was out cold and I feared that soon he might be out forever. “The coldness of his skin is unusual, also, with how slow his injuries are healing…something is definitely wrong somewhere, this isn’t injury given by an Alpha is it?” The doctor, Miss. Cordelia asked as her questioning gaze met ours. Lily, Ben and I were all in the room. Cole in Lily’

THE SOFTEST

I watched Aspen like a hawk, checking his breathing and temperature every minute I could, Lily spent every moment with us as well. Assuring me that Ben would make sure none of the routes slipped into the pack and hurt anyone. We all stayed in the bedroom, only making a move when Cole complained about being hungry. He kept asking questions about his father, questions I couldn’t reply to because I didn’t have the answered either. Lily tried her best to keep him occupied and smiling but u could see that it was taking a toll on her. When Cole finally fell asleep, we both breathed out a sigh of relief. She met my eyes and forced a small smile, then her blue eyes shifted back to her cousin. He was still pale and still cold as ice, his breathing seemed to have regulated but his eyes still wouldn’t open. Her eyes were watery, and she seemed to be somewhere else in her mind. “I don’t know what I’ll do, if something happens to him…” Lily spoke out in a shaky voice. “There is so much I r

FLOOD THE PACK WITH YOUR BLOOD

“No!” I said, my warm tone quickly dissipated as I met Lily’s eyes with a hard stare. I knew she was aware of it, no doubt from her secret conversations with Enzo and their weird delusions about a prophecy. Enzo believed in things like that, he believed in fate, prophecies, the moon goddess, second mates. None of it ever mattered to me and I played along because he was my friend. But this was getting out of hand. “Look, Lily…I’m not sure what you and Enzo have been planning or how long, but telling anyone else my secret will put I and my son at risk, I can not and will not lose him,” I said sharply with an icy glare. Lily let go of my hand, almost like she’d flinched away from my touch. I become a different person when it came to this, Enzo should’ve told her that much. “You can trust Aspen,” Lily remarked but not sounding as confident as she did the first time. “I can not trust anyone,” I retorted. “Don’t you trust me?” Lily asked and her words caught me off guard. Despite eve

LUKE'S CHANGED

Aspen stayed unconscious for another two days, and I watched over him every passing second, even at night, scared that his mother might do something extreme. One thing I was certain of was the fact that the woman would follow up on her threat, and that scared me. I sighed for the nth time that afternoon as my haze drifted to Aspen. His eyes were closed but moved constantly, like he was in a turbulent dream. His color had returned and so did the warmth of his skin. Cordelia had come back a few hours later, not saying a word to us about whatever it was she had told Catarina but instead cake back to draw more blood and inject a strange looking liquid into Aspen’s arm. I wanted to stop her but Ben and Lily trusted her and thus I had to trust their judgment. Aspen looked more peaceful, his wounds had healed drastically and there was barely a scar, now all that was left was for him to wake up. “You need to rest, Andrea,” I heard Lily’s equally tired voice from behind me. I turne

COME BEGGING

Luke and I made our way to the living room and I stopped by the kitchen counter to pour myself a glass of water. I could feel his eyes follow my every movement. I wasn’t sure what he wanted hut being put under his scrutiny made me feel somewhat suffocated. “Okay, please stop staring,” I couldn’t help but say as I met his familiar blue eyes. To think a few years back I couldn’t go a day without seeing him, now I was eager to get him out of my sight. Like ran his fingers through his hair in a rather frustrated manner. Looking at me and then looking away. He did that a few times before he huffed out a resigned breath. “You are mad at me,”“I am not mad at you, not anymore,” I replied truthfully. Luke and I were over and quite frankly I was too tired to add him to the issues I currently had in front of me. Luke pursed his lips and took slow steps forward, that same expression on his face. Ugh. What did he really want. He shook his head, “No, I know you’re mad at me and you

FRAMED

After Luke stormed out, I took a deep breath to try and compose myself, not wanting Lily to see me so affected by Luke. I didn’t want anyone to see me like this! I’m no longer the weak woman I was. Or so I tried to tell myself. That conversation had brought up so many old emotions and wounds that I had worked so hard to move past. But I refused to let Luke see how much he had affected me. And this would also be the last time. As I stood there, gathering my thoughts, Lily came down the stairs with a worried expression on her face. When our eyes met, I gave her a reassuring smile, hoping to put her at ease.“Hey,” I called out, I sounded tired and I couldn’t hide it. "Are you okay?" she asked, her brows furrowed with concern.I nodded. "I'm fine, Lily. Really." I didn't want to burden her with the details of my unpleasant exchange with Luke. That was in the past now, and I just wanted to move forward. Maybe get some sleep in between. I was so fucking tired. "Luke and I...

ASPEN

The sound of approaching footsteps had me snapping my eyes open, my body tensing as the rusted cell door creaked open. Catarina strode in, her icy gaze sweeping over me with a look of pure disdain.I was so lost in thought that the appearance of another scared me. “Well, well, look who we have here,” she sneered, the corners of her lips curling into a cruel smile. “The filthy omega who dared to run her mouth at me only a few days ago,”This was all her doing, for the fact that I’d embarrassed her, she wanted revenge. I was panicked and scared of what would become of me but what I worked about the most was Cole. He was still at Sienna's, what would happen when he comes back and doesn’t see me? I had to get back to my son!I have to find a way. I lifted my chin defiantly, refusing to cower under her piercing stare. “I didn’t do this, Catarina. And you know that,” I said in a low voice, meeting her eyes despite wanting so bad to look away. She let out a harsh, humorless laugh.

BARELY A WHISPER

It felt like everything had stilled and time had slowed in that moment, Aspen and his mother's gaze clashed and the tension was so thick it could be cut through with a knife. I knew Aspen was cold, I knew he was scary but this…the way he stared down at his mother with the obvious power and authority in his eyes was something completely different from what I was used to. I could literally feel the strength from his wolf, pressuring everyone around, making a few take steps back and look down at the ground in submission and reverence. But Catarina? She stood her ground, the only evidence that Aspen’s aura affected her was the sweat that beaded on her forehead. Her expression didn’t shift and those narrowed eyes of her looked just as menacing as ever. “How dare you…” Catarina began through gritted teeth, “…try to use your stolen authority to undermine MY decisions!”Her voice was so harsh, the look in her eyes so raw with hatred that it made me doubt if she was truly Aspen’s mo
