Chapter 31.:

“What about my baby?” Ariana jumped into the conversation, worried about the safety of her unborn child. It was easy for them to say they would use the child, but use it in what manner? Are they planning to take the child to the battle and present it in front of everyone like the highest trophy, hoping it will send Marcus to his knees? Ariana couldn’t even imagine her baby being away from her.“No harm will come to the baby. I can guarantee that.” Trenton tries to assure her, but Ariana’s gaze tells him his words did not n’t convince her.“How can you guarantee that? Do you know exactly what your king is planning to do? You are only a general.” Ariana accused him. She knew little about the military ranks of her country to begin with, but in her eyes, not one had enough power to tell the king what to do, or assure their safety if the king decided to threaten their lives. She compared Marcus with the king of a foreign country.“I am Major General, young lady. That’s a high enough positi

Chapter 32.:

It was a pitching dark night when they finally left the tunnels and climbed back above the surface. Trenton instantly ordered his warriors to build a temporary shelter. Behind them, in the darkness, Peter didn’t see any lights from the city. There was nothing except the surrounding wild.“Where are we exactly?” Peter wanted to know their location, so he could pinpoint where they were. Trenton looks around, not fully sure where exactly they are. It was the first time for him using tunnels as well.It is difficult to pin an exact position in this darkness. There were no villages around here with at least some slight lights, helping him to realize where exactly they were. The point of those tunnels is to assure the safety of their people. Each entrance is located in the middle of nowhere, so there shouldn’t be any reason for enemy soldiers to be there when the civilians get out. There are workers to regularly check on those tunnels to assure their stability, but other than that, no one h

Chapter 33.:

The group led by Trenton ran straight to Salstar. The Moon shone over their heads as they rushed through the darkened landscape, illuminated purely by the starry sky and the Moon itself. Ariana, as the only one in her human body, rode the light gray wolf, firmly tightened on his back. Trenton runs carefully not to hurt her, yet without losing his speed. They were only a few miles away from their next stop, but he could feel someone or something breathing on his back. Thanks to the high dose of adrenaline pouring into his bloodstream, his senses heightened. Just as they had the walls of Salstar in front of their eyes, a loud howl echoed through the region. Their pursuer also noticed the shortening time he had before his prey would be out of his reach once again. Marcus was behind them, but Trenton couldn’t allow himself to look back. They must reach the city walls at all costs. The weather tonight wasn’t on their side. The wind was blowing back to Hayward, the place where the Lycan Kin

Chapter 34.:

“Report!” Daniel demanded the report knowing the person standing among his subordinates carried it. It has been almost a week since he sent his trusted man to bring the girl carrying the child of his enemy. For the past several days, his mind split between the two. The part of him seeking revenge against his mortal enemy wished to use the girl and her unborn child to finally get to Marcus and kill him. The other half of his mind was strongly against the idea. Using civilians in a bloody revenge was not something he could swallow. “Three days ago, they left Hayward, crossed the plains and two days ago entered Salstar. As far as we know, they left Salstar through the western tunnel early in the morning.” Anna, the person working under Irina, reported.  Irina has been Daniel’s trusted friend since childhood and held t

Chapter 35.:

“Do you think father is alright?” Ariana asked her mother during the second break on their way to the capital. They left Salstar two days ago and her father once again stayed behind. Ariana worried about him even more than she worried about herself. Her mother forbade her from shifting so for the past two days she has taken turns on the back of wolves’ warriors, isolated with her thoughts. Peter didn’t return to them the entire time they spent in Salstar. He remained outside of the city with warriors for the two days they spent in the town. Ariana regained her energy thanks to her mother’s constant care.  Once they left the town, despite her inability to shift into her wolf, Ariana remained conscious for the past days, lost in her thoughts. The baby in her womb moved several times, letting her know it was growing.

Chapter 36.:

“That’s Pharos, our capital.” Trenton showed with his finger to the horizon. Tall towers stood high above everything else as lighthouses for everyone. Ariana looked to the place where Trenton pointed with his finger. Another two days had passed, and they finally saw the destination of their journey.  Ariana watched her mother standing and laughing with Trenton as he was showing her something on the horizon. Her eyes subconsciously looked for the distant object. It didn’t take long for her to finally see the city’s towers towering above the horizon. Watching the distant city, her eyes held tears, emitting sadness. A deep sadness which she harbored in her heart for the past weeks. Not even a talk with Trenton could dissolve the doubts she had in her mind. Deep in her heart, she knew the words she offered to her were true. Marcus has never been a good person. She recog

Chapter 37.:

“Come in.” Daniel invited the person who stood behind the door of his office and knocked on the door. It didn’t take long before the door opened and David entered.  “Good afternoon, sir,” he greeted king Daniel. Daniel lifted his eyes from the papers lying on the table in front of him. The voice of the man told him exactly what kind of news he should expect.  “Trenton sent me ahead to give you a report, sir. By this time, he should be by the south gate of the city and be on his way to the castle with the girl and her mother.” David reported relatively shortly, but with the most important details. Daniel’s stomach curled inside. Until now, he hadn’t decided how to properly use the girl, if ever.  “And her father?” Danie

Chapter 38.:

“What was that supposed to mean?” Daria wanted to know as Trenton led them to their rooms. She looked at her daughter’s strange expression, trying to figure out what had happened. Daria arrived at the office the moment a tall, muscular and good-looking man gave order to Trenton to show them their rooms. He also demanded a doctor for Ariana, but her daughter’s pale expression told her something else happened before she arrived. The sudden rush of her daughter also aroused her curiosity. Despite Ariana’s weakening condition, for a moment she looked thrilled.  “Nothing. It was nothing. I guess it’s just my imagination.” Ariana quickly dismissed her mother’s questions. She didn’t want to put hopes on another relationship with a high positioned man. Until now, she didn’t fully get over Marcus, either. Despite the rejection, she could f

Chapter 39.:

“I am sorry. I didn’t expect you to come so early.” Ariana apologized to the doctor, who waited for her in the room.  For the last three or more weeks, Ariana paid no attention to her hair. She couldn’t. Deep in the woods and plains, there were no creams and masks which she could put on her hair. Such dreadful conditions left marks on her. Even with the doctor waiting for her in the room, she took her time to put on a mask and once she finished bathing and partly dried her hair; she put on a cream.  The doctor scanned the girl from head to toe. A clean clothes maid brought for her while Ariana remained in the bath fit her perfectly. One would say those close are made only for her. A long ring-detail draped jersey dress copied her curves while decently hiding her growing belly. The ring in the middle of her back, dec

Chapter 40.:

“How is she?” Daniel asked for the report from the doctor. The look in Tanya’s eyes differed from what he expected. He almost forced her to check up on a girl from another country. And not just from another country. From the country of their enemy. In Edeirland, there wasn’t a person who wouldn’t suffer loss during the last war. Tanya Levi wasn’t an exception. She had lost her dear brother during that time.   “Her pregnancy is progressing well. The road has left its mark on her, but they are both doing well. The baby girl is strong. I am sure she will give Ariana a hard time.” Daniel didn’t miss the mark of the child. She didn’t say a baby or fetus, but a girl. During this short time, she spent time with Ariana in her room. She had already opened herself to the girl, which was never easy.   “She is pregnant with the girl?” Daniel wanted to
