Chapter One Hundred Thirty-One

It is after ten pm at night when Roman and I finally get to the hotel. There are no students looming around and I just know it is because the curfew has kicked in. “Roman, it’s after curfew already. Don’t you think we will get in trouble if any of the staffs find us coming in now?” I ask him, worry filling my tone. Roman glances around as we board the elevator to take us to our floor. He looks absolutely unbothered, he never is but I am. I’m not used to breaking the rules. “It’s fine, don’t worry about it” Roman responds in a cool tone. Okay. I think about how Cassie and Robyn must be so worried about me by now, they might’ve even tried to call my phone but I doubt the boy that stole it would have answered and informed them that the phone had gotten a new owner. A frustrated tone leaves my chest as we step out of the elevator causing Roman to glance at me. “What is wrong?” He asks me. Whenever I express so much as a tiny bit of displeasure he wants to be informed of it. It is

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Two

The next day I get ready for our class tour of the Connecticut museum in sluggish movements and with sleepy eyes. By the time I had been done giving Cassie the run down of the day last night, from the coffee shop, exchanging numbers with the barrister, Matt. To getting mugged, nearly gotten run over by a speeding vehicle, Roman saving my life to us having the best heart to heart and making up… it was three AM. We had to wake up by six AM so we could only get three hours of sleep hence the sluggishness. I get dressed in a cute jumpsuit and put my hair in a sleek ponytail paired with sneakers as my outfit for the day. It is a few minutes after eight AM when we leave our hotel room in a rush because a general email is sent to everyone by Mr Kevin that the last person to show up in the hall where we are meeting, will be in trouble. When we get to the hall, we see Robyn standing ahead and leaning by the wall. Facing her with their backs to us are three guys I just can tell it’s Roman,

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Three

It has been two weeks since our school trip to Connecticut and since Roman and I got back together. It has also been two weeks of spending time with him, my family and friends as well but mostly with him. Everything has been so perfect, sometimes I feel like I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop, for something to go wrong. I’ve relayed my fears to Roman because we really are in the no secret between us phase of our relationship, a phase I hope we never leave, and Roman did so well in putting the sad thoughts out of my mind by assuring me he won’t let anything or anyone come between us and he won’t let anyone hurt me as well. I have also been scarcely going to Roman’s house. I am not yet ready to face his father. It pisses Roman off that I’ve told him to give me time before we broach the topic of getting his father to apologize to me. I only go to his house whenever his father is away on a trip and I never stay over no matter how much Roman begs me to, it only aggravates

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Four

“We are in deep trouble, Roman” I tell Roman. I find a bit of reprieve from whatever is coming knowing that I won’t be facing mom alone, if I would be getting a scolding, I know Roman will get one as well, I just hope it won’t be worse than a scolding. Mom can be unpredictable. “Let’s dress up and go downstairs before she loses her patience from waiting” I speak again, hurrying to my closet. Roman doesn’t move and I turn back to him. “Roman?” I call out to get his attention. He jerks as if he forgot I was in the room with him. He hadn’t moved or said a word since mom appeared. Finally he says, “Do you think she’ll be angry if I escape through your window?” He winces. He wants to leave me to deal with this alone? Like hell no. I smile a dangerous smile at him, “If you think my mom is what you’ll have to worry about if you leave me here to deal with her alone, consider yourself single from his moment” I warn him threateningly. Instantly, Roman recovers his confidence. He starts p

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Five

On thanksgiving day, my mom had to move the dinner she had fixed for 6 pm into a late lunch instead. This morning the hospital had gotten swarmed with patients and so she was told she would have to come in for an all night shift. I was tasked with informing everyone about the change in schedule and apologizing for any inconvenience. No one took it to heart however mom keeps feeling like she has disappointed my friends. “They don’t mind, mom” I reassure her once more as I slice the onions and garlic for the turkey dressing. She shakes her head, “I would’ve refused the shift if I could but they need all hands on deck at the hospital tonight” She explains again. I don’t know how else to reassure her so I just give her a smile and focus on preparing the best roasted turkey ever made. ***When we are done preparing the food for our thanksgiving dinner- now lunch, I leave the kitchen to my room to go take a shower and get dressed before our guests start arriving. Earlier I had call

Chapter One Hundred-Thirty-Six

I shake my head in confusion, “I have no idea” I pick up my phone and reply the text message.Me: Who is this please?I ignore Roman who I know is looking into my phone as I reply and is reading my response. I don’t call him out for his invasion of privacy mainly because I’m not even trying to hide it from him. No secrets between us remember?I take another spoon of my dessert as a response comes in. Unknown: I’m hurt pretty girl, you’ve forgotten me this easily? It’s Matt, remember?Matt? Who is Matt? I think but can’t fathom who this could be. “Who is Matt?” Roman asks me in a whisper, he doesn’t sound angry or anything just curious.“I really don’t know-“ I start to answer stop short when I do remember. “Oh… Matt” I say, with clarity now. I see the silent question in Roman’s blank face. I grin because I really did forget Matt. I don’t respond to his text right now but lock my phone. I will send him a reply after we are done eating, it is rude to be on one’s phone at a publi

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Seven

As I have been instructed, I give Roman the directions, slowly, until we finally arrive at where I’ve planned. Rixon Arcade and Games Center. “We are here” I inform Roman and then direct him to park. “You can pull over here-“ He cuts me off, “I know, Cookie. You’re too bossy”I chuckle, “You asked me to give you directions” I tell him, grinning. He huffs out an annoyed breath, “Yeah. I asked you to give me the directions to wherever this is, not directions on how to drive and park my own car” He mutters the complain under his breath but I still hear it clearly. At least he is not complaining about the venue of our date which is nearly always a given with him, so that’s a small mercy I’ll take. We both step out of the car and close our doors. “Why are you so bothered by me giving you directions, you’re being so… pissy” I note, narrowing my eyes at him. Usually Roman is a pretty easy going guy but he develops a prickly and irritated behavior like a little boy whenever I get

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Eight

We start the game of pool and I take the first shot, excellently well. It’s so good that both of Roman’s eyebrows flies up in surprise, he gives me a look of suspicion as he takes his place by the pool table to play his move.“You selected a game you’re good at” He notes. I don’t answer or confirm his suspicions even though he is right, I just shrug. Behind him, I’m smirking as he takes his shot. I am expecting a terrible or at least an average play but then, as bloody always, Roman surprises me.When will he ever stop surprising me? He is awfully good at playing pool. “Are you good at everything?” I complain in a whiny tone as I walk closer to study his play. Oh, It’s good. Roman steps back for me to take my shot next, as I level myself to the pool table to take the shot, Roman uses the tip of his pool stick to gently tap my butt that is bent over the edge of table. He does this just as I take my shot causing me to jerk from the unexpected hit and take the worst shot ever kn

Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Nine

Roman’s POVIt is a few days to Christmas and even fewer to Lindsey’s eighteenth birthday. I have been in a bind all week contemplating a birthday gift for her. I have even brought in Damon, Robyn and Cassie to help me out with ideas and while they have tried by presenting me with numerous options, I’m not satisfied. I’m not very good at gift giving. Having so much money usually means I buy the most expensive things for my friends and family as gifts, but with Lindsey I can not exercise the same level of indifference or carefree attitude. I want to get her a birthday gift that… has meaning. Being with Lindsey Jordan has changed me. She has shown me that money isn’t everything, I mean I always knew that but now I have lived it. The picnic date she had organized for me the night before my birthday as my birthday gift sure didn’t cost anything close to a thousand dollars if I were to wager a guess, but I wasn’t lying when I told her it was the best birthday gift I’ve ever gotten. Chapter One Hundred Forty

I turn to my cousin with a frustrated and doubt filled look. Damon raises an eyebrow at my facial expression. “Do you want my help or not?” I grunt, “Yeah I do. What type of car do you think I should get for her?” I ask him hopelessly. Damon shrugs, “A lambo or something” He replies. My jaw drops in shock, “A Lamborghini? Are you insane!?” My cousin snorts, “Don’t tell me you think it’s too expensive, she is your girlfriend whom I know you love so don’t tell me you’re deciding to be stingy with her gift” I ignore him saying I’m in love with Lindsey, I am but I’ve never told him or anyone, I haven’t even said the word to Lindsey and I should, I plan to tell her on her birthday, but that is not the point of my conversation with Damon right now. A lambo? I’m groan out, “Please where is Cassie and Robyn? I need them back.” I shake my head in exhaustion. Damon gives me a glare for doubting the reasonability of his idea which is an absolutely ridiculous idea. “Call Cassie and ask h
