Chapter 31 - Staying quiet.

Libby POVElpseth took one look at me sitting across her Mum at the breakfast table and pulled me outside for girl time. I was currently pushing her on the swing as she chatted to me about Harry and how baby Angel likes to wake up a lot at night time. It didn’t take long for Rex to join us and I was pushing them on the swings one at a time until Beth came out, offering to help.I liked being with the children, it was innocent general conversation as they gave me better insight into their little lives. They held no grudges towards me, only love…to them I was Auntie Libby.Ben was sitting nearby watching us, his eyes remaining on the four of us as we giggled amongst ourselves.“He seems uncomfortable…How is he?” I whisper to Beth. Ben was sitting the end of a sun lounger, his fingers rubbing at his temples. He didn’t like being here, he felt open and exposed. “He wants to leave, for us to move again.” Beth replies as she pushes Rex higher, at his request. “Where will you go?” I follow

Chapter 32 - White pills

Pierce POVSomething wasn’t quite right with Libby. She practically darted back into the house to avoid shifting earlier. Her relationship with her wolf was complicated and never do I want her to feel uncomfortable around others, especially where her wolf hasn’t had the number of shifts or experienced a pack environment such as my own. In fact, my wolf was having difficulty feeling her wolf. A sign that she hadn’t shifted in such a long time which was unhealthy. Which is why I had hoped she would use the excuse of a group of us shifting together to not feel nervous about joining in. I place a kiss on her forehead, the sight of her holding a baby bringing my possessive side forward. She was my mate and would have my children one day, I was only a red blooded alpha male after all. I head upstairs to use her ensuite shower. Usually I had the bathroom to myself, adjacent to my guest room, but with the additional lodgers at the moment I didn’t fancy tag teaming with teenagers. I’m qu

Chapter 33 - A secret deal.

Pierce POVShe glares at me, I think if her wolf was more present she would claw at my face. Something I secretly get excited about for the future, she would be a feisty Luna and I would have fun bringing her true self out. “You don’t realise what you just did.” She seethes at me. “I do, now pack your bag.”“Pack my bag?” Anger remains in her posture as her arms cross defensively but a flicker of worry enters her face for a second. She thinks she got away with it, but she hasn’t. I saw the fear behind her angry facade. “You’re coming home with me, back to my pack.” I adopt a more gentle approach. “Hang on a minute…” Reuben interjects.“This isn’t up for discussion Reuben, she is mine…”“Why don’t we ask what Libby wants Pierce, maybe she isn’t ready just yet. Libby, do you want to go to Pierce’s pack?” Evelyn pushes past Reuben, now standing next to Libby, baby Angel still in her arms. She could take on a pack with a baby in arms and still win. “I want to go home…” Her eyes might

Chapter 34 - Saying Goodbye

Libby POVI could already feel the shakes starting, my body craving for the next pill….her strength starting to come back.I didn’t want to contact Natascha, I didn’t trust her but she was the only connection I had that could help me. Father still hadn’t come back to me, his reluctance to make amends with me was starting to irritate me more than his over-bearing behaviour.I was sitting in the garden, watching the children play again, a silent Pierce sitting near me, watching me. He had a cocky smirk on his lips each time I looked at him, oh he could feel her growing in strength.“Not long now Libby…”“Not long before what?” I chide at him, his purr like voice making my spine tingle…I hated the way she was already trying to call out to him. I needed pills, immediately.“Not long before you beg for me to claim you…“Yeah, well, maybe I’ve kept her away for so long she is deranged…maybe you’ll be begging me to reject you.” My words are like a thousand daggers flying from my mouth. “Don’

Chapter 35 - Training

Libby POV“Again.” Reuben roars encouragingly as if I were one of his warriors. “I need a break!” Every part of my body ached, I could already feel bruises forming under my clothing.“You’ve had 18 years of break, you need to train.”“I just need a break…” I seethe through gritted teeth, I wasn’t saying I wouldn’t continue, only that I needed a break. “No, no break until I say so. Again!”Reuben was being a dick and this wasn’t our first day of training together. It’s not like I’m not trying, I was pushing my body to the maximum…as well as a certain someone gaining more and more power over me.It had been 3 days since Ben, Beth and Anwir left, 3 days of intense training. I ran 5 kilometres each morning before commencing hand-to-hand combat with Reuben. All this whilst under the watchful eye of Pierce. He ran with me each morning which as my favourite part, just the two of us. Then my mood would sour when Reuben arrived into the garden with training equipment.I wasn’t born to fig

Chapter 36 - Needing 100%

Pierce POVWhen will he fucking learn not to push her, expecting too much of her. I wrap a blanket around her shoulders and pull her close to me, keeping her close under my wing. She was shaking, she was petrified…her wolf had slipped through the barrier that she was fighting constantly to maintain.I slowly walk her up the stairs and it takes all my effort to let her use her own feet, I wanted to scoop her up in my arms and walk for her. I walk her to the ensuite and turn on her shower. I ensure the temperature is hot but not too hot, her body was shivering…I didn’t want her skin to burn against her cold skin. I go to leave the bathroom and wait outside when she pleads with me to stay.“No, don’t go.” Her cat-like eyes take on a doe-eyed look as she stares up at me pleadingly. She wanted me to stay, she didn’t want to be alone. I walk her to the shower trying to hide the rage growing within me, her body is warming up yet she continues to shake. She was trembling from fear. When wi

Chapter 37 - Play Putty.

Libby POVMy eyes slowly open and as soon as they do, I wish they hadn’t. The dull ache that hits my body quickly reminds me of my training with Reuben.I slowly sit up, my hand stroking at my temples trying to undo the tension headache that has formed. She was gaining more and more power over me. Inch my inch she was worming her way through that psychological barrier. She had pushed through during training with Reuben, her strength even shocking him.I can’t let that happen again.I reach down to grab my backpack from under the bed, to pull out my phone and turn it on. As I wait for a notification to come through, I’m disappointed to yet again not hear from Father. He was starting to really piss me off, the man could hold a grudge that was for certain.I open a new text message, typing Natascha’s number in from memory, I knew her number off by heart.“It’s Libby, I need more.” I press send knowing that as soon as I do she would need to meet up with me for a drop off.“Already?” Her

Chapter 38 - Tip-Toeing

Libby POVIt’s bedtime already, and I’m struggling to sleep. I had slept for too long during the day, my body might be slightly tired but my mind is fully awake. I had helped to bathe the children, Angel was adorable splashing and giggling in the shallow bath while I washed his cute blonde hair. He had that baby smell, which had heightened again from using the baby shampoo. He was a little dream and as soon as Evelyn had given him some milk, he fell asleep in my arms. She was making my feet tap as they hung outside of the bed, she was telling me to check up on him. He had been distant since he returned with Reuben. I’m not sure what transpired between them but something had shifted…Reuben seemed more humbled this afternoon. I would have to wait until morning training to see if he kept his word, that he would let Pierce train me. Pierce had a more encouraging approach to my training, and I like any other person, preferred that approach. I remain like this until a little voice in

Chapter 39 - Eavesdropping.

Libby POVI wake up to find myself entangled in Pierce’s arms, his warm breath hitting my ear as he spoons me from behind. His arms tightly grip around my torso and I would be mortified in waking like this, if I hadn’t had the best night’s sleep in a long time. I wasn’t cold laying next to him. He had a similar body heat as Ben, not that I ever found myself entangled in Ben’s arms. But he did offer me friendly cuddles when my caravan was making me cold. I have to admit, being in Pierce’s arms made me feel…safe and secure. My body clock was used to the early morning starts, I don’t think that will ever change now. Even though we talked into the early hours…my body still woke up at the crack of dawn. I turn in his arms to look at his gorgeous dark features. His long eyelashes would envy most, I hadn’t realised just how long they were. I run my fingers across his facial stubble which was abrasive against my finger tips as I stroke his jaw line. He lets out a moan in his sleep from m

Chapter 40 - Running too far.

Libby POVI don’t wake Pierce up, I wanted to be alone for my run this morning. I wanted time to think. What was Evelyn keeping from Reuben, keeping from me.It felt good just to run, letting my mind think about things. Think about what I want.Last night was the first time I had let anybody get close to me for a long time. I’m not just talking about physically…Anwir was a touchy feely person but I never let him close to me like I did with Pierce last night. It felt natural to talk to him, he doesn’t seem to judge me like others. That, a part of him understands what I’ve been through, that I just need time.I’ve been running for some time now, I would say a good hour. I was still slow, I was human after all. I didn’t run like my werewolf counterparts. I continue to run until I come to a treeline, somewhere I hadn’t been to before. I stop abruptly looking around trying to figure out where I was. I clearly hadn’t been paying attention whilst letting my mind work through the chaos.
