Aiden’s POV My heart was hammering against my ribcage as I walked back into the packhouse. I was holding her as tightly as I possibly could. The fear of losing her was overwhelming and I felt like I only now realized what had happened. Only now when she was back home did I feel my body go numb. Only now did I feel sweat break on the back of my neck. “What happened?” Ian asked as he rushed down the stairs. “Is she okay?” “She is fine, Ian,” Elijah said. “She tried to leave.” Packhouse workers knew better than to be in our way. I saw no one other than Ian and it was better that way.
