41. Silver Wolf

Chapter 41: Silver Wolf Hannah: The feral urge of a wolf overwhelmed me as I stood on all fours. All thoughts were on Tyrell, lying on the ground as we stared at each other. His eyes were full of awe but drooping slightly as he was about to lose consciousness from all the blood he had lost, as well as the bullet that had been fired at him. I looked toward the hunters who had inflicted such pain and suffering on him—on my friends. They all had scared expressions on their faces, which was strange considering they werewolf hunters. They should have captured or killed several wolves before me, so what made me different? I didn’t think much of it as their shocked expressions turned to ones of happiness. I didn’t understand why that changed until one of them spoke. “Well, well, well, boys, looks like we got lucky tonight. Such a big catch,” the man said as he gawked at me, a tinge of excitement visible in his eyes. The boys he referred to all laughed, mirroring the excitement of the

42. The Tunnel Of Mystery

Chapter 42: The Tunnel Of Mystery Bryan: A few days had passed since I saw those weird papers of some kind of experiments in my father's office. I had so many questions: Who were those people on the papers? What kind of experiment were they undergoing? Why was he keeping it a secret from the pack? At least from me? I should have known these things if I was going to be the next alpha, but he never included me in any of it, which made me frustrated. These thoughts ran through my mind for a while. I wondered if my dad had figured out anything suspicious from that day. If he had, he would have acted right. I was walking through the pack late in the evening when I bumped into someone. "Watch where you're going." A voice sounded annoyed. "Excuse me!" I wasn't watching where I was going. There was no reply, though, from the other party. The girl whom I had supposedly bumped into wasn't someone I knew or had seen before, which got me confused. Who was she? And what was she doing in ou

43. She Is Aurora

Chapter 43: She Is Aurora Hannah: "Melissa?" Alpha Daniel repeated as he took careful steps toward me, a bewildered look on his face. Why was he calling me by his dead wife's name? I glanced toward his side at Harry, who also stared in confusion as he called out to his father, holding him back from advancing closer. Alpha Daniel peered at Harry, a scrunched-up face in peril. "What do you mean that's not Melissa? Look at her." He turned his gaze toward me once more. "One of the scouts that came back with them informed us that it was Hannah," Harry stated, peering back at me. I didn't have time for all this as I was too anxious about the people present in the clinic—Cleo and then Tyrell—from the attack, from MY attack as well. Not waiting any longer, as I couldn't, I dashed into the clinic, still in wolf form. When I entered, the room was filled with panicking nurses as they formed a circle around me and tried to subdue me. I snapped at them, not wanting to hurt them any more th

44. The Alpha's daughter

Chapter 44: The Alpha's Daughter Hannah: I felt hot all over from what he had said. I didn't believe him; I couldn't believe him. The room was plugged in silence once more after Alpha Daniel's declaration for a few minutes, as everyone took it in. "What do you mean she's your daughter? You never had a daughter," Tyrell asked from my side as he still held on to my furs. It’s a good thing he questioned, as I had lost my voice to do so myself; my mind still mulled over what was said. "Yeah, Dad, you must be confused, maybe because she looks like Melissa, but she can't be your daughter," Harry chipped in, the scrunched-up look on his face wondering how any of this was possible while he stood beside his father. "I'm not confused, it's her!" The Alpha declared once more, holding his ground as he walked up to me, hugged me, and I let him. As I continued to sit on my hind limbs, the thoughts that this was an absurdity were far away from me, how it had stared at me the whole time. "Shi

45. Battle To The Death

Chapter 45: Battle To The Death Hannah: We both turned around to see who owned the new voice and what exactly he meant by that. It’s been a while since I had stayed in this pack, but this was the first time seeing this person. Luna Freya had a wicked grin on her face with the arrival of this person, but Alpha Daniel, on the other hand, didn’t, which made me wonder why. The man bowed to both the Alpha and the Luna, paying his respects, which told me he was just a member and still under the authority of the pack. “Council member Jonah, it’s wonderful you could get here on such short notice,” Luna Freya greeted back, a gentle smile on her face as if she hadn’t been screaming and pouring out profanities. It was an old man in regular clothing. He looked to be in his late sixties or so, but it seemed his age didn’t affect him in the least—perks of being a wolf. He reciprocated the Luna’s greeting once more before he turned to his Alpha, a slight smile on his face, which seemed to vex

46. Tap Before Death

Chapter 46: Tap Before Death Hannah: I avoided the sharp claws that drew closer to me by stepping backward. Harry came at me at lightning speed, pushing me back against a tree with force. I rolled away from a deathly knockout, which seemed to scatter the tree behind me. I heaved deep breaths, the adrenaline pumping in my blood as I fought for my life. Beads of sweat dripped down the side of my face. "Harry, we don't have to do this," I tried to reason with him as my life was in imminent danger. "I've been preparing, training myself to be the alpha. What makes you think you could just swoop in and take it away from me?" he growled, lunging at me again. I evaded his attack once more, rolling and stopping on my knees as I begged him to let me live. "As long as you're here, there will always be your claim to be alpha, and I can't have that," he said and growled, turning into a full-blown wolf. "No, wait . . ." I tried to scream as he attacked again and clamped his jaws on m

47. The Plan

Chapter 47: The Plan Bryan: After I had burst out in the forest, I made my way back to the pack house very early in the morning. My mind whirled with thoughts. What was he doing to that lady? Why was she looking up? What was my father doing with her that he'd hold her up to such an extent? I would have tried the locks, but they were a different kind. I didn't have the tools for that. Maybe I could get them and go back another time. He was probably experimenting on her, as the papers said. But was she a werewolf? Why would he be experimenting on a werewolf, of his own kind? I had come to see my father in a different light regarding issues, and my mother too, but I didn't think he would go that far. No matter what—or at least that was what I thought. This was all done behind the pack's back. I was definitely sure his intentions were no longer pure. Not to my mother, and not to the pack either. So what were we going to do about it? We needed to do something before it blew up in ou

48. Unfamiliar Scents

Chapter 48: Unfamiliar Scents Hannah: This was the first time I would ever be involved in any way possible, other than being embarrassed and bloodied all the time. My brothers made it a habit to make a joke out of me any chance they got. I'm glad I left that pack, or I'm glad they kicked me out; either way, I wouldn't have had this opportunity regardless. Tyrell would be coaching me in the upcoming duel with Harry for the position of the next alpha of the pack. I didn't want to, but Tyrell made me see sense in it. Still, I had my doubts a few times. After washing up and throwing on some clothing, I made my way out of the pack house. By then, news had spread in the pack house of me being the Alpha's long-lost daughter. They all looked at me even more weirdly than the first time when I was just a nobody. They all whispered as I passed, my heightened sense picking up every word and syllable uttered. I tried to turn them off, but I realized I didn't know how, so I was stuck listenin

49. A Trap

Chapter 49: A Trap Bryan: Removing my father from leading the pack was going to be hard for us, considering how powerful he was. We had no idea what his full strength was, as we'd never seen it for ourselves; even I haven't. I had my people with me, and we were going to try our best. I needed to find out what he was doing first, if it was a threat to the pack. I needed to know. There seemed to be eyes everywhere, but no one seemed to notice his behavior. They all took it as him performing his alpha duties. After we had discussed a few things, Heather and I had left and went our separate ways. I had still tried to talk with her, but to no avail. But I was going to try again. My mother was in the kitchen when I came downstairs, as she prepared breakfast. It was how she just continued on with her life, like nothing happened. Every time the thought of my father choking my mother came to my mind, I always felt angry. "Morning," I greeted her while she went ahead to place

50. The Spy

Chapter 50: The Spy Hannah: I woke up in the morning with a very bad ache in my back. I must have hit the tree trunk very hard, or maybe it was the shifting. I had no idea. My head was banging once more, the voices starting up again as I laid on my bed in my room. As usual, the voices spoke gibberish. I thought of going back up to my mother's room, but I didn't want to overstep. Mother. I tested the word on my lips as well as putting her face into memory. Weird how I'd only used that word with Mrs. Anderson back at the Raven Fall pack. Though she wasn't my real mother, now I knew who my real mother was, why I had certain traits, some answers to my questions—it all made sense. All the things we would have done together as mother and child, we weren't able to. Time was stolen from us, from me, and we couldn't get it back, not with her dead. This was all the Raven Falls pack. They were the culprit. Why didn't the Crow's Hill pack attack when they knew who raided them? I coul
