Chapter 471

“Bang!” The bedroom door kicked open. Armed men barged in, followed by a man in a black windbreaker and boots who strode into the place. The nurses and doctors in the bedroom cowered in a corner in fright, not daring to move an inch. Despite the heavy security outside, these people managed to enter the room. Maybe… Rory made a beeline to the bed and pulled the covers open. He took off his windbreaker to wrap Mable in before picking her up. He stared at Mable with a complicated look. She was a fool. For the years he had known her, he had never seen her in such a terrible shape. She was always on top of things. No one could get the best of her. “I’m here to take you home, Mabes,” Rory said tenderly. Holding Mable tight, Rory was ready to leave. “W-Where are you taking our madam?” Seeing they were taking Mable away, Aunt Grace plucked up the courage to ask. Rory side-eyed the talking old woman and narrowed his eyes dangerously. “Your madam?” Yeah, right. Ro

Chapter 472

Rory abducted Mable from Royal View Villa but was not in a hurry to leave for Fasier. Instead, he took her back to the Jefferson Residence in Ashdale. Ralph’s body was transported back and placed in a coffin in the living room of the residence. That afternoon, there was a brief funeral service at the Jefferson Residence. Mable woke up, dressed in black, then spent some time with Ralph by his coffin. Rory and Adam took charge and organized Ralph’s funeral service. Ralph was a prominent figure in Ashdale, so when word of his passing got out, plenty came to give their condolences and pay their last respects. The funeral happened three days after Ralph passed away. It was pin-drop silent at the residence in the middle of the night. Mable quietly sat looking at Ralph’s photograph, her body rigid and motionless. Adam entered the room and bent over to pull her up from her seat. “You’ve been in the same position all afternoon. Get up.” Mable did not move. Not knowing what t

Chapter 473

Back in Richworth, Blair was at the hospital for three days before regaining consciousness. The moment his eyes opened, Tracey crouched on his bedside and wailed. “You’re finally awake, Blair.” Tracey had been on pins and needles for the last few days, fearing his illness would relapse or his condition would worsen.Blair had a narrow escape from death. He could barely work up the strength to move his finger when he woke up. He turned to Kyle and Solomon at his bedside, his lips quivering. “What are you trying to say, Blair?” Tracey leaned in to listen and heard, “Mable.” Wiping away her tears, Tracey sobbed. “Concentrate on your recovery, Blair. Anything can wait until you’re all better.” If Blair was to find out that Mable had been taken, he would ignore his health and go after her. Despite Tracey’s intention, Kyle said, “Rory took Mable and Ralph’s body to Ashdale. Ralph’s funeral will be held tomorrow.” Tracey glared at Kyle, frustrated that he decided to go ahea

The group walked out of the ward when Olivia, wearing a hospital gown, came approaching their way. “I heard Blair is awake. Can I see him?” Amos said, “Master Blair just regained consciousness, Ms. Page. He needs rest.” Raising a brow, Tracey checked out the woman before her eyes. The woman must be Liv or Olivia. In Tracey’s opinion, Olivia was not even good-looking. Her angelic look was likely just skin deep.“I’m going in to check on him,” Olivia said while proceeding to push the door open. Tracey put her foot out to block the entryway. “The doctor said that Blair needs rest. No one should disturb him.” Olivia turned to Tracey and pleaded, “I promise I won’t disrupt Blair from his rest, Tracey. I just want to check on him real quick. Please?” “No means no!” Tracey pulled a long face. Olivia appeared hurt. With folded arms, Solomon said sarcastically, “You should go back to your room, Ms. Page. You might fall sick before Blair gets better. Everybody is busy. Nobod

“I’ve not seen Blair yet, so I can’t tell you the extent of his injuries. I tried to ask the nurse. Apparently, he was pretty badly banged up. He nearly didn’t make it. He was in the ICU for two days and just woke up this morning.” Olivia then asked, “Do you need me to do anything, sir?” The man on the other end of the line fell silent for a bit before saying, “He probably will be in the hospital for a while.” “I’m sure he would since he sustained severe injuries.” “You should check out of the hospital when you can.” Olivia was confused as she could find a way to get close to Blair while at the hospital. The chances of meeting Blair would be unlikely if she left the hospital grounds. Before Olivia could raise a question, the man said, “Figure out a way to stay in Royal View Villa with Blair’s permission once you leave the hospital. I need you to go to his study and find something for me.” Olivia learned why she needed to check out of the hospital. “Alright, but what sho

Chapter 476

As the man walked out of the cemetery, three men and a woman in black walked toward him. Despite wearing sunglasses, the man walking ahead of his group looked ghastly pale. Since there was only one funeral at the cemetery, they were most likely there to pay their last respects to Ralph. The man left the cemetery grounds and got into the car when his phone rang. He took the call. “Hello?” “How was it?” On the other end of the line was a woman. The man sighed to himself. “She’s the only one left in her family, Your Majesty.” Silence ensued. “Your Majesty—” “If I had known that would be the last time I saw him, I would’ve been nicer to him.” “I’m sorry, Your Majesty.” “Is she doing well?” Before the man could answer, the woman mumbled to herself. “Why did I even ask? Of course, she’s not fine. I don’t have the right to ask. Out of everybody, I don’t deserve to ask about her well-being.” “Your Majesty—” The call abruptly ended. Looking at the disconnected ca

Chapter 477

Sitting behind the desk, Blair looked emotionlessly at Kyle and Solomon talking in the teleconference. He did not even lift a brow. Once they had finished saying their piece, Blair asked, “Secret?” “Who else?” Solomon hissed. Since the leak of the company’s confidential files, they have been taking hit after hit. Now, it was time to get real with these people. “I’ve talked with Solomon. We’re heading back to the headquarters. You should return to Richworth soon. We need someone holding the fort here.” Blair cut Kyle off, saying indifferently, “I won’t be back in Richworth for a while. No need to fly to headquarters. I will deal with the situation.” Dumbfounded, Kyle asked with a blank face, “What’s the meaning of this, Blair?” “Don’t tell me you don’t plan to attack them even though Secret has picked on us?” Blair flicked the cigarette between his fingers without a word. Rory was only doing so to avenge Mable and Ralph. Blair gave them a free pass because he owed th

While talking, Tracey approached Blair. “It’s time to take your meds, Blair. You have not had your drips for the day.” Blair nodded and followed Tracey back to the bedroom where the doctor had been waiting. As he lay in bed, the doctor quickly set him up for the saline drips. After all the necessary examinations, the doctor and nurses left, leaving Blair alone with Tracey. Tracey sat by the bed. “Have a good rest, Blair. I’ll watch over you. I’ll return to my room once the bag of drips empties.” Blair stared at the hanging bags above his head in silence before saying, “Can you do me a favor tomorrow, Trace?” Tracey straightened her back. “What is it?” “Go to the Jefferson Residence and check on Mabes for me.” … Mable returned to the family residence and locked herself in her room after Ralph laid to rest. She was not in good shape. It was a good thing that Rory and Adam stuck by her side, sorting out the work-related stuff and other details before leaving Dorland.

Chapter 479

“I just found out that you’re pregnant, Mabes. I’m about to become an aunt.” Tracey stared at Mable’s belly. It was hard to tell any changes in Mable as she wore a loose sweater. “Can I touch your stomach?” Tracey asked cautiously. Mable nodded and placed Tracey’s hand on her belly. “I’m almost three months pregnant,” Mable murmured. Tracey asked curiously, “When can you start feeling the baby move?” Mable replied, “Usually at four months.” She had one more month before she could feel the fetal movements. Tracey looked up at Mable, catching the affection of a mother in her eyes. She took Mable’s hand. “You’re going to keep the child, right?” Blair told Tracey last night that Mable did not want the child. However, Tracey could tell Mable cared a lot about the child. Mable met Tracey’s eyes and said warily, “It’s my child. Of course, I’m going to keep it.” She paused and stressed, “It’s my child and mine alone. It has nothing to do with anybody else.” Tracey sta

Blair looked at Tracey. “The baby…” Tracey said, “Don’t worry, Blair. I’ve asked Mabes. She said she would continue with the pregnancy.” The tension along Blair’s facial features finally eased. He knew Mable would not have the heart to go through with a termination. So long as she was willing to give birth to the child, Blair would gladly pay whatever the price. Back at the hotel, Blair began his daily infusion. He was still recovering and needed therapy every day. While on the drips, Blair took a quick break. Tracey stopped Amos from entering the room to report work to Blair. “Blair is resting. Everything can wait until he’s awake.” No matter was more important than his health. “Could you wake Master Blair, Ms. Fowler? I have something important to let him know. It’s urgent.” The solemn and stern look on Amos’ face meant the matter could not wait. Tracey frowned. “Is it work?” “All I can tell you is that it’s very important.” Amos was anxious to the poin
