Chapter 110 - Mikey

The horns of the cars behind us started blaring as Uncle Drake was unable to move when the stoplight turned green. I watched his stunned face as I apologized to the drivers who passed us by. It took Uncle Drake another round of the stoplight turning from green to red and vice versa before he was able to drive and parked in a parking bay created for those who had an emergency. We sat in an uncomfortable silence, that made me think if I had made the right choice of telling him.I came clean to him first for one reason, and that is Anya. I wanted him to know, wanted to assure him that everything in my life was now in order. This means I can now focus on Anya more and on finding the spy. I can now plan and focus on the upcoming war because I no longer have any doubts as to who I am. “I don’t know what to say,” Uncle Drake said finally after a while, his eyes glued to the road ahead instead of looking at me. “I am happy that you finally had an answer to the void inside of you and thin

Chapter 111 - Mikey/Anya

*** MIKEY ***As I walked inside the training building I found Uncle Drake leaning against one of the large columns of the building instead of going straight to Uncle Leon’s office. “What are you doing here?” I whispered as I stood beside him. “Did you know that people usually misinterpret your Uncle Leon?” He asked as followed where his eyes were looking. “What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.“Leon is a straight-to-the-point kind of guy. He hates it when I or your Uncle Calvin use flowery words to charm and win any business prospect or a pack to add to our alliance. He said that all that we needed to do was state the truth, because like what everyone says, honesty is the best policy.” I nodded not sure where our conversation was heading. “What he said isn’t really wrong, but it is also not entirely right.” “What do you mean?” I asked once again because what he was saying was not really clear. A smile appeared on his face, a sad smile to be exact. It was as if whatever he w

Chapter 112 - Mikey

*** MIKEY ***The training of the warriors who lost in the tournament was going well. As an added protection, the families of these warriors were placed under a spell that would trigger Aunt Dana and Aunt Nikki once someone tried to approach them and ask anything about the warriors who were currently training for Purpura. Aside from that, their memories would be protected as they won’t remember a thing about their sons or daughters, or their nieces or nephews if ever the trigger was set off.Today, all of the warriors who were supposed to be part of the tournament were given a chance to rest, no training was allowed at the training academy but that does not stop all the hopeful warriors from training on their own, especially when the threat of being eliminated was haunting them. Anya arrived at the training room at the packhouse basement earlier than scheduled. She had improved a lot both physically and mentally since the last tournament. Today she will just focus on knowing poisons

Chapter 113 - Anya/Mikey

*** ANYA ***The day that all the remaining warriors were anticipating finally arrived, the day of the second test. Everyone piles up in front of the entrance of the tournament arena and the way our numbers went down was noticeable. And it was not only that, uncertainties among warriors are more evident than before. “Do you know what our tests would be?” One warrior asks. “I’m afraid that I won’t be able to make it until the next test,” another warrior shared. “Everyone is getting anxious, Luna,” Ruby whispered as she stood beside me. “I know,” I replied. “What do you think our test would be?” Ruby asks softly.“To be honest,” I said, “I don’t have any idea at all. But I trust that after all those trainings that we went through, more specifically my physical training.” I still can’t forget everything that I have to go through because of these tests. I thought that Mikey had finally given me a break especially after he let Persephone run with Hades. But when I came back, I was n

Chapter 114 - Anya/Mikey

*** ANYA *** I was expecting that the test today would be different from the tests that we had from the last time. I was just not expecting it would be this different. Doors. All we see in front of us are doors. Doors made of different materials, colors, and sizes. “This will be hard,” Rose whispered and I knew exactly what she meant. The three of us need to make the right choices for us to reach the end and to be honest I don’t really know what to expect. “Camaraderie,” the voice spoke once again. “Do you have what it takes to reach the end? Or is your bond not strong enough to take you to the finish line? Will you stay together or will you go on separate ways? Tik tok the clock is ticking.” “I hate the speaker right now,” Rose said under her breath and I know what exactly she meant. The rules were clear, the three of us needed to reach the finish line and we needed to do that within two hours. I turned to face Rose because if there was a weak link between our team it w

Chapter 115 - Anya

It was all a lie.The silence we heard outside was all a lie. Because once the door closes you will hear everything. We heard another terrified scream, it felt close and yet it also felt so far. “What the hell,” Rose said under her breath as the screaming continued. The three of us froze from where we stood as we were not able to take a single step from where we were. Because of the moment, our door closed behind us. All we heard were screams and not just the usual type of screaming. You can feel the fear embedded in those screams. Ruby went from being lax to a fully alert stance and made sure that I was behind her, even though there wasn’t anything to protect me from. We found ourselves in an empty room that was filled with white tiles. The room was too bright and too white for my taste, but then again, I am pretty sure that this room was created to make us feel uncomfortable in the first place. “We need to move,” I said as I was about to take the first step, Ruby stopped me. She

Chapter 116 - Anya

The door behind me closed and the view in front of me appeared and I found myself in the middle of what seemed like a forest. It was not like any forest I know, so I am not sure that this is not a forest near Purple Hill. I wonder if this was the same view that Rose and Ruby are seeing. I started walking forward but kept my senses open for anything. I recall the first survival skills that Ruby had taught me. ****** ‘Keep your eyes open but make sure that your other senses especially your ears more adept at differentiating all the sound that it hears,’ Ruby instructed. ‘That’s all?’ I asked Ruby and she raised her eyebrow at me. ‘It’s easier said than done,’ she replied crossing her arms in front of her chest. ‘How hard can it be?’ I said with a shrug. Ruby looked at me and smiled. ‘Let’s try it then,’ she said. ****** And that’s when I learned how wrong I was, the hard way. Because Ruby slammed me down more times than I remember on the makeshift ring. I stopped for a wh

Chapter 117 - Mikey

Something is not right. From the moment Anya stepped inside her door we all know that something was wrong. We can see each of the warriors as they enter their own doors. And all of them. Which is why we were all surprised to see how different Anya’s place was from the rest. Everyone is trying to find their way out of the very big maze that the tournament masters have created. I find it fascinating that none of them cross with each other as they find their own exit. Tall hedges surround the warriors and once in a while if they were not clever enough to pay attention to details, they wouldn’t realize that they are just walking around in circles. It was not a hard test, but also not an easy one. Because aside from the fact that some of the hedges move without you realizing the change, there are several surprises planted along the maze as well. It would have been fine, only if all of them had the same arena. But for some reason, Anya’s arena was different. Instead of tall hed

DK and I reached the supposed exit of the Arena and found the tournament masters right by the exit of Anya’s Arena. “Open it,” I said as politely as I could, even though all I wanted was to scream. “We had been trying, Alpha,” the withered old man who was the boss of the tournament masters said apologetically. “There’s got to be another way,” DK said as he ran his hand through his hair. “We set up the arena in a way that no one can easily get out of it as well as enter it to avoid the rogue wolves from attacking once again,” the old man explains. “Then how can you explain what happened to Anya’s Arena?” I asked, still trying my best to control my anger.“We don’t really know how it happened Alpha,” his answer was soft and filled with guilt but that was not something that I would need. “Are you telling me that we have a traitor from the tournament masters?” I have been trying to avoid it, didn’t want to believe it either since most of the members of the tournament masters are vet

Chapter 119 - Anya

If I have known that I will run this much while I was training with Mikey this past week, I wouldn’t have given him so much crap. Because frankly right now, I was able to survive this tournament simply because of all the things that they have taught me. But even though I have learned so much, I still can’t deny the fact that I am running out of places to run which also means that I am running out of options. I stopped running and realized that the mist that was chasing me had also disappeared. But I was still restless, especially after remembering Ruby’s rules of surviving. ***** ‘Just because you don’t see your enemy, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have one,’ Ruby said as she gave me the rules that she follows as a spy assassin. ‘If you are being chased down. Then suddenly that person who is chasing you disappears, find a safe place, and follow the rules of being a shadow.’ ‘Why? I asked irritably, I know I told them that I wanted to be a spy but I never thought that it would
