We were driving down a long road, covered by trees, the only true sound being our breathing and the trimming of the car going over the small shambled road as we drove to town. There was a light tension in the air, something he wanted to say but was biting his tongue. The engine shook as he pressed a bit more on the gas, his hand gripping the steering wheel. His knuckles were starting to turn white and his expression was fully indifferent as he stared out of the windshield, the world around us darker than before as the sun finished setting. His head had to of been whirling as his jaw clenched, whatever was going through his mind had me on edge, defensive and ready to protect myself when needed.
