Chapter 11

QuinlanAfter waiting for Ronika to come up after sending for her, I decided to go downstairs. I could hear laughter from the top of the concrete staircase. When I rounded the kitchen corner, Ronika and Aria came into view, seated on the kitchen counter stools by the counter, each with a cup in their hands. The rest of my staff were not present, including my grandma, who had promised to come by."I'm telling you, she spent the night with Quinlan." Ronika chuckled, but I could feel an edge in her voice. I knew right away that they were talking about Clara."She has no shame. I'm glad you put her right in her place," Aria answered as I stood behind them. They were too engrossed in their cheap gossip to hear me approach."You should have seen her face; god, she looked like she had been hit with a rotten egg," Ronika added, letting out a loud laugh, Aria joining her."This is not a fucking amusement pack," I thundered, their backs tensing and the laughter dying out instantly. I couldn't b

Chapter 12

Ronika I stared at Quinlan's father without blinking, every single word he had just uttered sinking in more slowly than I would have liked. Then I blinked after internalising the complete sentence. It sounded too surreal to be true, almost as if I had imagined it. Before my eyes, everything seized to exist for a while, while my mind went completely blank. I couldn't move; it was like I was fixed on the floor, seeing nothing but swirls of darkness. It took time for my systems to reboot and go back to reality, and when they did, I let out a loud laugh that had the two men furrowing their eyebrows. They acted as if they were expecting a different type of reaction. "Breeder," I spoke in between laughs, clutching my abdomen when my insides began to hurt. "Me." I poked my chest with my index finger. "Ronika Sue Zeke, become his breeder." I addressed the older man while pointing at Quinlan, the laughter dying out. "You must be a mad man," I spat, sending an icy glare at him. He growled

Chapter 13

Quinlan"Loosen up dude; you look like you're about to murder someone," Aiden, my soon-to-be beta, said, making our close friend Denzel lift his whisky glass in the air in agreement with him."You'd look like me too if you were in my shoes," I responded, sipping on my bourbon. We were currently in one of the popular clubs in town, in the VIP section. After such a long day of thinking about my confusing feelings for Ronika, I decided to numb my mind with a drink or two."You will choose your mate in two days, become the alpha right after that, and on top of that, you will get a little servant to fuck anytime you're bored with your mate and you're brooding? That is fucking heaven if you ask me," Denzel pointed out, shrugging when I just looked at him with a bored gaze."Denzel is right; why would you allow it to stress you out?" Aiden chimed in."You wouldn't understand." I drowned the entire glass of the liquid, enjoying the burning feeling it left in my throat as it went down my stoma

Chapter 14

RonikaI couldn't control the surge of emotions that bombarded me the moment I was out of Quinlan and Clara's sight. A pang in my chest grew as I relived the scene of Quinlan pounding into her, looking right at me. I was mad at myself for wanting to be in Clara's place instead, to feel him entering me in powerful strokes. A sob broke through me as I rounded the last corner that led to the hallway and my room.I threw myself on the bed, face down on the pillow, and then let out a loud scream of frustration that was muffled by the pillow."He's a monster," I said aloud so that my stupid mind could stop pushing stupid emotions forward. I didn't understand why seeing him with Clara was affecting me when I already knew they were fucking, or why I was even affected in the first place. I wasn't supposed to want a man who walked into my home, destroyed it, had my mother killed, and took me away. A man who harrassed me, spanked me, and forced me to wear an indecent uniform maid."Please mom, g

Chapter 15

QuinlanI tuned off my mother's voice as she lectured me, reprimanding me for skipping family dinner. My father sat beside her, going through a file as usual, his brows creased in concentration. I just sat there, my mind wandering to Ronika's pussy on my thigh the previous night. The way her pupils were dilated and her alluring lips parted as she let out small puffs of air."Did you hear a thing I said?" My mother snapped me back to reality, waving her hand in front of my face."Yes," I straight up lied, making her lean back on the sofa."What was I saying then?" she asked, eyeing me suspiciously."Uum..." I raked my brain for appropriate words, but they seemed to evaporate when I needed them the most."See, I knew you weren't listening." She lifted her shoulders, looking straight into my eyes, until I broke the contact and cast my eyes down. A silence stretched for a while, with Ronika taking charge of my mind yet again. I wished I hadn't insulted her because her sullen face was stuc

Ronika"I know about your secret, honey. I know a lot about it." That was the first thing Quinlan's grandmother said the moment she came into Quinlan's room as I was cleaning. Her words had my hands freezing, and I dropped the pillow that was in my hands. No one knew about it except my late mother and my father."Don't worry about it; it's safe with me," she added, walking over to Quinlan's bedside. I was dumbstruck, standing unmoving as she stood beside me. Again, like the first time we met, her proximity brought about a sense of calmness that slowed down my heartbeat. It almost lulled me into a sudden sleep, but I fought it and focused on what she had just said."Ma'am," I whispered."Don't ma'am me; call me Nana. Now come, this is not your work." She held my hand, her touch sparking a warmth that only my mother provided when she was around."It is my work," I argued, wary of what Quinlan would do if I didn't finish cleaning his room. It was important for me to try and get on his go

Chapter 17

Quinlan"N-o," She whispered, clasping the neckline of her dress tightly. The Material was blue in colour, flowing up to her knees; it seemed she had decided not to wear her uniform. Her actions had her dress tightening around her boobs, and as my eyes took in the outline of her nipples, my mind was taken back to the hallway."It wasn't a request." I dragged out the words, my eyes raking over her petite body once again. I had to punish her for her mouth; otherwise, if my father got wind of her foul speech, he would be the one doing the spanking."Is this how servants in your father's pack talk to him?" I held her chin between my index finger and thumb, lifting her face closer to have a look at her. She attempted to push my hand away, only for my other hand to hold hers above her head. Her mouth was set in a thin line, but the fire of defiance in her beautiful eyes was still burning. I could see her sheer determination to stand her ground through any means possible."L-ea." She attempt

Ronika"Chop chop, the alpha will be here shortly to inspect our work," the stuff supervisor spoke, her voice drifting through the entire large space. Aria, several cleaners, designers, and I were currently in the pack's largest convention centre, where the ceremony would be held, perfecting the place. Aria and I had been tasked with wiping every single seat in the vast space."You, servant girl, quit being lazy." The short, chubby woman pointed at me when I stood to stretch my back. Bending for hours had my entire muscles contracting. I had lost track of time, but given the darkness outside, it was some time close to midnight."Are we going to sleep at all?" Aria mumbled beside me."I heard that!" the supervisor shouted back, making Aria grumble under her breath."These seats are too many; how big exactly is this pack?" I asked a pissed off Aria, trying to ease her mind."Big, some will be forced to stand, especially because other packs have been invited," Aria answered, looking over

QuinlanI didn't move from the sitting room despite my mom's continuous insistence that I get some rest. She had visited to go through a few things before the ceremony, but ended up staying late at night to keep me company. The ceremony was the last thing on my mind, though, because instead Ronika occupied it. Nana had promised to pick her up from the convention centre and bring her home, but it was almost midnight, and they weren't anywhere to be seen."You have to be up early, son; surely you need to go to sleep now." For the umpteenth time, my mother spoke across the living room."I already told you, mom, I am not sleepy." I resisted the urge to growl at her because, man and beast, she was beginning to get on my nerves."It's because of that servant girl, isn't it?" she asked, getting up from the couch she was sitting on."Not again," I sighed, tapping my fingers against the back of my other hand."Why don't you choose her?" I blinked once, then rapidly, as I looked at my mom's ser

Chapter 20

RonikaHow was I supposed to deal with Quinlan and the revelation about my mother at the same time? I slid down against the wall beside the door, pulling my knees up to my chest. My will was broken, my energy was low, and my mind was just frail. It was all too much to take in and deal with. I questioned everything I knew about my mother, given what Queen had told me. I had refused to read the letter because nothing written there would change my new reality. I stashed it inside one of the dresser drawers."To think my parents cared for me," I whispered, shaking my head. How could they have allowed alpha Blackstone to take me away from home when they knew beforehand? I closed my eyes, heaving a heavy sigh as my mind became a jumbled mess. It was as if I was destined to live a life of pain and suffering, away from everything I had ever known."Why mom? How could you let them take me? Why didn't you hide me before that day? Why?" My voice shook, and the realisation that she wasn't the goo
