Chapter 11 – The stalker

“I only saw the ring. Can you tell me about his wife?” Maeve crafted a smile to hide the pain she felt every time she saw Gabriel’s ring. How strange of the fact that she recalled nothing about it and the fact that he said he loved her before her death? Something was not adding up and Maeve felt worried that she missed something or a part of her memory had been covered. Did Gabriel divorce at a point? Maeve recalled nothing of it in her past life and felt miserable talking about it. Doreen shook her head. “Even my father doesn’t know her. It was some kind of secret marriage and Gabby said she was in Hawaii. A fun-loving girl. But I know that Gabby doesn’t like fun-loving girls. He would have married Mildred if he did and he has refused to show anyone any picture of her as well.” Maeve saw the situation as dicey. If only she could remember. “Maybe…” Maeve’s phone began to ring and her heart thumped when she brought out her phone and s

Chapter 12 - You looked happy when I walked in

At the sight of Maeve, Sandra stood up and said, “There you are, Maeve, your fiancé has been worried sick. Since you are here, I will go and rest.” She quickly ran up the stairs and Maeve realized she did that a lot, wondering how she could say these things so casually as if she was innocent of it all. Maeve laughed at the mockery of her words in her heart. “Maeve, you got us worried.” Care instantly registered in Dylan’s eyes and he stood up and circled his arms around her. She stiffened, feeling disgusted and quickly pulled away. She was tired of this fake care Dylan always tried to show her, which she always fell for in time past but now, she needed space because the air around Dylan and Sandra was sickening to her. This genius idea she just hatched, would help her to be free of this Dylan-Sandra Virus for some time. “You looked happy when I walked in,” Maeve said coldly and walked up the stairs after seeing his changed expression. It made Dylan feel that she was angry or jea

Chapter 13 – A perfect moment ruined

Maeve was dazed by Gabriel’s utterance. It reminded her of how he had doted on her before, bringing back sweet memories which made her feel special. Gabriel would always defend and stand by her. This was a confirmation of the last part of her death when he said that he couldn’t live without her. She smiled at the thought of the sparks she felt when she helped him with the wristwatch, wondering if he felt it too. While Maeve was lost in her thoughts, Gabriel was furious. It was not his intention to chastise anyone or show that he cared for Maeve in her presence since she was the one who opted for a divorce when they had not even consummated their marriage. He lost control because this was the third time Samantha had done this right in front of him. The first time could be a mistake and the second time an oversight, but for it to repeat the third time meant that she was doing it on purpose, and Gabriel did not like it. For as long as Maeve was under his protection, she had to be give

Chapter 14 – Maeve, you are coming with me!

Maeve had known from the revelation of her past life how good Gabriel was at martial arts and wished for the argument to get intense so he would teach Dylan a lesson for her. She was happy about what happened last night. Since she pretended to be affected by seeing Dylan laughing with Sandra, it saved her from the pretense of showing that she cared for him in front of Gabriel. It hurt her when she saw Gabriel’s painful look the last time when she lied that Dylan was coming to pick her up and did not want to see it again. Dylan came at the right time by Maeve’s timing. He was embarrassed at Gabriel chasing him out of his office, feeling that such power should belong only to him. Sadly, Gabriel had all the power Dylan desired, and he was determined to snatch it one by one. Gabriel’s weakness was an open book, and Dylan decided to use it as a weapon. He relaxed his back against the chair he sat on, crossed his legs, and said mockingly at Gabriel, “If Maeve is welcome, then so am I.”

Chapter 15 - You haven't earned my forgiveness

‘Oh Gab, just kill him for me,’ Maeve wanted to say but held it in and rather asked politely, “Can I use your conference room, please?” Indirectly, she was telling Dylan that she was not leaving. She also did not look at Gabriel when she asked, and neither did she allow him to answer before saying, “Thanks, Gabriel, I’m grateful.” Thus, she did not allow Gabriel to refuse her request, pulling Dylan along with her while Gabriel’s fingers tightened into a fist. ‘So, it's back to Gabriel, no longer Gab,’ he said in his mind. Back then, he loved it a lot when she called him Gab. Things changed as fast as they happened, and Gabriel had already accepted it. He was only becoming confused because of Maeve’s recent change in attitude towards him, contemplating whether to trust her again or watch her closely. While Maeve passed through the reception with Dylan, Samantha said nervously, “Mr. Grayson, you are bleeding. Here, have my ha

Chapter 16 - She missed how I used to take care of her?

Gabriel’s phone rang a few minutes after Maeve left his office with Dylan. It was Maeve’s father, so he calmed down and answered it. “Dad!” “Son, is everything alright?” Reginald asked with care. Due to the relationship he had with Gabriel, the latter could not lie to him. “Well, no. Dylan got me upset, so I punched him in the face in front of Maeve,” Gabriel confessed, lest Dylan goes to fabricate a different story to incriminate him. “Good. Maeve came to the office earlier today and approved the list of underworking staff to be fired. They were the people you warned me to be mindful of, and when I fired them earlier, Dylan threatened he was going to tell Maeve, so I withdrew my decision,” Reginald revealed with a slight eagerness in his tone. “And she approved it?” Gabriel was amazed before the understanding began to sink in that this was the reason why Dylan had been furious with him earlier. “That is what the HR Manager told me,” Reginald responded. He was surprised upon see

Chapter 17 – When did you get married?

Maeve did not remember any of these girls being bad in her past life. They were only influenced by Samantha. The one who was supposed to keep Gabriel’s secrets was the one distributing them. She could not get angry at the girls because they were not there when everything happened. It was all Samantha’s fault. Also, she kind of understood the reason why Samantha’s attitude towards her grew worse. When Gabriel told her to wait for him in his office that day, he rebuked Samantha for her sake. Maeve could not believe it since Gabriel was very cold towards her that day. Also, they talked about his mysterious wife and said that he went home early to her, but Gabriel had had dinner with Maeve since she began working from his office, except the night she went to visit Doreen. Her heart warmed at the thought of him defending her behind her back, and she could not worry about his mysterious wife anymore. The girls moved out of the way, and Maeve passed without a response to their greetings.

Chapter 18 – Not wearing Sandra's collections anymore.

Gabriel was taken aback by the question since it was unexpected, especially when it came from Maeve. He never thought that she cared. However, he could not help recalling her harsh words to him that day. He had forgiven her, but he could not help feeling pained whenever he remembered how Maeve’s ring finger was circled with a diamond, which was even cheaper than the ring he had given her. The ring he bought for 1.5 million was in the sewage. As Gabriel’s eyes narrowed to the ring on her finger, which did not cost even up to 500k, his expression turned cold, “Maeve, you are engaged, so things about my marriage should not concern you.” Maeve’s face fell, but she swallowed the pain and forced a smile. She knew that the pain she caused him was more than what she felt by the answer he gave her. It was all because of the fucken ring she was wearing, and she felt vile for not being able to take it off and throw it away right there and then. The sight of it brought her misery and pain, bu

Chapter 19 – Dad, there is no woman in my life

Gabriel felt like he was dreaming, upon seeing the dress Maeve was wearing. He loved the dress the moment he saw it and pictured her in it, thereby buying it with many others for her on her birthday, but he never saw her wearing any of them. It was even better than he thought at the time of purchasing the dress because Maeve rocked it perfectly. He was filled with the desire to possess her, especially when her eyes were fixated on his, both emitting sparks and desire to own each other. It was as if time stopped before Gabriel dared to take a step back. Maeve was in love with Dylan, and he had to respect it, whether he liked it or not. Regardless, it did not stop him from admiring her beauty. After all, he bought the dress she was wearing. “Maeve, sorry. I didn’t know you were standing there, and you look gorgeous.” Maeve beamed, and her eyes were glued to his. Her heart yearned for him, and her body was craving his touch, which she knew she would not get until the cursed diamond r

Chapter 20 – Dealing with Sandra

Dylan was already working on recovering that money, but he never meant to return it to the Cambridges’ coffers. This was money he wanted to invest in his name to prove to Maeve’s father that he was already well-to-do and was not going to marry Maeve because of money, like how he had branded Gabriel. It was the reason why he didn’t move ahead with the wedding preparations yet. Reginald was smart, and Dylan wanted to be smarter. Maeve wanted to be sure that he was going to return the money and asked, “You promise?” “Of course,” Dylan eagerly agreed. Since Maeve found him out, he had no choice but to do so. However, he was going to find another way to get it all back. There was more and he knew he had to cover them up to not come to light for Maeve to find out.“Then make it fast. Dad will soon be handing over the company to you, and I want him to see how hardworking and smart you are,” Maeve pinched his ego, and as expected, he was grinning like a fool. “Of course, I will make both
