12.1-Longing

Kimarhi - Lion Island - Day before the Summit Waking up refreshed, I realize the bed is empty; Lorcan left late last night. I fight back the tears as I feel very lonely now. It happened in such a blur yesterday. I was fated, and he was mine. Lorcan also gave me more than I bargained for, that’s for sure. Our first time together was magnificent. He wasn’t angry with what we did, nor did he hold it against me. The fated bond is no joke; I have seen others living it, like Theo and Helena, but only experienced it for the first time yesterday. It isn’t easy to feel happy when he isn’t here. I force myself out of bed, not realizing I’m crying. All this will be an adjustment. I’ve never had to rely on anyone, and now my heart feels emptier. I felt this way when Lorcan was talking with his father yesterday. I was nervous about announcing him to my people as their King. It’ll be fine, and he must fulfill his family obligations before returning to me to his new home. ‘My Queen would you like

'What was that about?' Tavers asks through the pride link, taking a seat to my left. 'I’m not sure. Dorian has always been respectful, but just now, he was downright rude.' I answer by repeating Dorian’s opinion. 'I thought everyone would be happy they have a King again, but Dorian just seems hateful,' I say with eyes closed to hide that I'm using the link. My anger subsides as I sense a warm hand on mine. Tavers runs his fingers across my wounded knuckles, and even they feel better. His touch, like Anya's, soothes me into calmness. 'Just know that those insecurities are his own, My Queen. Think nothing of it.' He taps my hand, removing his, and follows up with the best thing he can say. 'Dorian will be removed from the council as of now. I will speak with him later. You concentrate on other things, my Queen.' He knows what I need to hear. Feeling better, I look at Dorian’s back as he walks down the hall. With a smug smile, I shake off this situation and concentrate on Sir Tavers.

13.1-Torn

Xim - First night of the Summit Sentry duty is usually long and lonely, but tonight, I'm paired with two members of other clans to protect Lion Island. This gives me people to talk to while on watch, but I'm not in the mood. When we arrived this evening, I felt ill and dizzy from all the floral smells in the air, so much so my head was killing me. It was so painful that I couldn't concentrate on sentry duty. Extremely sullen and fatigued, my mind is a cluttered mess. Thankfully, there wasn't an attack from the shadow clan, and the night passed quickly. I'm relieved early from my post, and because of the pain, I can't activate the den link and move to find my Alpha. Maybe I miss Imagyn. It's been two days since seeing her last, and I'm not sure I like this feeling. Two ships left Wolf Island yesterday, and one went to Reptile Island to help with a recent attack. Needing healers, she went, but I wished she hadn't. I could use her soft touch. If Imagyn were here, she would massage my

I looked around the room while I waited, planted where Kimarhi asked me to stay. She may have meant I could sit but didn’t say it. The room is nice and warm, with the inviting aroma of her scent enveloping every crevice and calming me to a point. Kimarhi has a lovely apartment-style suite, very befitting for a Queen. Spacious and decorated to show her style, homey, lived in but lonely in a way. The room has white dahlias’, the symbol of Lion Island, subtly displayed everywhere. In vases on dressers and tables. Along with hints throughout the décor, blankets, pillows, and a painting. The sitting area has a plush sectional couch with lots of cushions. Scanning the rest, there is a closet across from the bathroom. Between it are a bay window and a seat with heavy thick curtains. My eyes land on the large bed. It looks comfortable, and I hope to be in soon if she lets me. But I shake my head to clear that lustful thought. No, I can’t yet. I have to speak with her first. After being hid

14.1-Revelations

Anya - Evening on Day One of the Summit The summit has me busy in the kitchen tonight. Everyone wants seconds of our banquet. Lost in my thoughts of food, the service door opens, making me smile. But it’s not Kimarhi like usual. However, it is another member of my family. “Anya, My Old Friend!” Alpha Morgan says with a broad smile, entering my kitchen with confidence. “Morgan, who are you calling old? I can still make a belt out of you,” I threaten, feigning anger and offering him a smirk. “Still as feisty as ever, I see,” he says, leaning to peck my cheek. The warmth from his touch calms me, and I forget about his loving insult. “Always! Now what can I do for you, Alpha?” I ask while a staff member comes over for approval of her dish. It tasted perfect, and I dismissed her with a nod. “I believe we should speak privately, My Friend. I feel this to be urgent,” he says, all giddy, but that isn’t anything new. When it comes to Morgan, everything is important. I bet he needs more w

14.2-Revelations

As my grandmother called us, we are The Guardians—the descendants of Queen Emera and her fated mates. The story of her court has been lost over the years. Some still believe, and others think it’s a legend or myth. The thought of a chimera shifter living again is awe-inspiring. My grandmother told me stories about the Chimera Queen being the perfect form of her fated mates. Her dreams were full of images of the past, and she was given the Prophecy. Not it’s my job to help Kimarhi fulfill her destiny and bloom. To become a Chimera Shifter. The humans have a similar story but get it wrong like most. For them, the Chimera is a monster with two or three heads and a malformed body. Our Kimarhi will be so much more than that. She can shift into any form, see through her mate’s eyes, and fight with them. Because of this, we have worked tirelessly to be the accurate record keepers. All the clans keep a census, and we save a copy of all records and the Prophecy under lock and key. We have tr

15.1-Acceptance

Kimarhi - Late Evening of Summit Day One I wipe away Xim’s stray tears. He’s about to explain his sadness when Lorcan enters the room. The scent that surrounds me is delectable, making my heart race. The rain and heavy earth mixed with musk and the woods send my senses into overdrive. Lorcan seductively asks if Xim is my new toy, and I smirk. It would be easier that way, like with Magnus. But will My King accept this new fated bond? He is smiling, but does he sense what I am doing? Lorcan closes the gap between us, his eyes darkening. Xim stood up defensively, and they lunged at each other. They both growl possessively, looking at me, while Lorcan restrains Xim. Standing, I force my way between them quickly with my hands outstretched to their chest. Lorcan’s solid frame is lowly growling, and Xim’s still body is hissing. “Stop!” I can feel the sparks from both hit my chest again. They are mine. There is no doubt. “My Fated, My Home,” I pull them closer. Their scents wash over me,

15.2-Acceptance

"We don’t have to go to bed, My Queen. Here is fine,” his lustful tone says he isn't waiting. "My Alpha. May I watch?" Xim asks, and his voice breaks the tension. His statement sets me on fire as his eyes lock on us excitedly. With that look, Lorcan forcefully opens my robe, exposing my breast. Not shy about it, I let him fondle me before Xim. Moaning from the sparks, I reply for Lorcan. “I think that’s a yes, you can watch,” I giggle, and Lorcan squeezes my breast harder, scratching at my skin. “Definitely a yes,” I growl this time. “Help your mistress to stand,” Lorcan demands after kissing my lips with such need. Xim sits up and takes my hand, lifting me to my feet. His face is perfectly placed at my pelvis, only the thin silk separating us from actual contact. But his warm hiss can be felt against my pulsing lower lips. The sensation is so inviting that I shimmy ever so slightly to tempt him, but Xim only blushes. Lorcan pulls my robe off my shoulders, letting it fall to the

16.1-Delight

Lorcan - Summit Day Two - Lion Island Waking up in a sleeping pile cradling into Kimarhi is a delight—my welcome home was unique and unexpected. My Queen and I are destined to be with another mate. I have never heard of such unions, but I only assume this is meant to be. Besides, who am I to deny my destiny? I know of a she-wolf who wanted pups but not a chosen mate. She has two from different men. Everyone is fine with the arrangement, and her children want for nothing. The she-wolf is even a high-ranked warrior, and her children are very skilled defenders. I assume she chose her partners with that in mind. I can only think fate knows what it’s doing for Kimarhi. Regardless of stories or rumors, my Queen and I have another, and I will not deny it. Those sensational sparks are present with Xim. I had never been attracted to a man, but this was different. He fuels my desire for Kimarhi, much like Magnus did. Watching her with someone in any fashion makes me work harder for her plea

16.2-Delight

“My Queen, the Chef has prepared a lovely breakfast buffet for you and the King,” Rieka’s voice chimes in, presenting the food and saving me a stammered response. Kimarhi’s eyes move to Rieka, still presenting her with a smile, “It's nice of Anya, always sending my favorites, but whom might this green-eyed beauty be?” “I’m sorry, My Love. This is Lady Rieka. Your new handmaiden, a gift from my Mother," I say with pride. “Well, I wasn’t expecting that, but Hello, Rieka. Lovely to meet you," Kimarhi greets her with a nod. “Thank you, my Queen, it's an honor," Reika curtsies again. “So formal. But I see you already know the way to my heart. With food!” They giggle at each other, and Rieka starts her task of serving each of us. “My current maiden announced she is expecting. I’m sure she would help you to settle before taking her sabbatical. I already gave her this Summit off after day one. We will have to ask her later.” “That sounds delightful. Thank you, my Queen,” Rieka says as s
