An awkward lunch

Jackson. I had never wanted to be so close to a woman before. Even though Kelsey Arlington had betrayed me in the worst possible way, I still wanted her. As soon as Angie brought her to my suite, her scent wafted into my nostrils, making me euphoric as I tried to sniff as much as possible. I wanted to bury face in her hair, take in all of it. I wanted to have her lying on my bed. Thinking about that made me horny as hell so I stood up and went to straighten my suit. I had dressed up just for her. I impatiently waited for Angie to get out before taking a deep breath and walking out. No woman had ever made me feel nervous before, and that was one more reason for me not to let go of Kelsey. She was playing with a lock of her hair when I entered the dining room. “Good afternoon, Kelsey.” “Good afternoon, Jackson.” A jolt of energy swept through me. I liked how my name rolled off her tongue. It sounded so good, so refined. I went and took a seat opposite hers. Her eyes narrowed. “Wh

The brother

For the next two days, I was able to avoid Jackson by staying indoors most of the time. I also tracked his scent, and made sure not to get out of my room when I could sense it around. I had picked up a number of books from the library and spent most of my time binge reading them. In my pack, we barely had any books, and I’d read most of the few we had in our old and dusty library. Sometimes when I looked out of the window, I could see Jackson. Every part of my body would ache to go down there and be with him but my brain would say no. Meanwhile, I was not making any progress in my revenge mission. I began to wonder if that was Jackson had brought me to the pack house. In the pack house, I could not interact with many people which limited my access to information. When I was not in my room, I was in the library searching for good books to read. I realised that staying in the pack house wasn’t such a bad thing after all. For the first time in my life I could relax, I didn’t have things

A win for her

“What the hell!” I yelled at her as I moved towards the side of the pool. “Delete that right now.”“Make me,” Angie said, laughing out loud. Jackson’s brother moved towards me and hugged me from behind. “Get away from me you freak,” I yelled and tried to turn so I could push him away. He placed his hands on the wall of the pool, cornering me from both sides. Angie was laughing loudly as she recorded, as if that was the funniest thing ever. “Stop it!” I continued to try to get away in vain.“Say please,” the man said, breathing down my neck.“Please let me go, I beg you.” Thankfully, he let go and I swarm out of there as fast as I could, before climbing out of the pool. By the time I got out, Angie had disappeared. I grabbed my towel and tied it around my waist, then headed to the building to find her.“Angie,” I yelled as I rushed to the building. I searched through all the floors and wings except the alpha’s but Angie was nowhere to be seen. I was pretty sure she was behind one of

Don't fall for him

Still in Jackson’s arms, I smiled at Francesca. She turned and stormed into the house. Immediately, I tried to untangle myself from Jackson. Although it felt good, the show was over. He let me go and smiled. “Thank you so much. I really needed that. Had a rough day. How was yours?”I thought of my day, unsure whether to tell him about the possible plot against him. After some thinking, I decided it was best to leave it for another day. “It was fair,” I said. “I have to go now.”“Where are you going?”“I need to take a walk,” I informed him. “I have some things I need to think through.”I knew Angie and Ken were very smart. If I spilled their secrets, they’d probably have a way of excusing themselves to Jackson’s satisfaction. I was sure Angie thought through everything she did. Ken seemed careless. If Angie got discovered, I knew it would be because of Ken. If I revealed their secrets now, Angie would find a way to make me look like the villain. It was probably one of the reasons she

A morning caller

Jackson.I couldn’t stop thinking about what Kelsey had told me. Although she made it seem like a simple warning, I could tell there was something troubling her. She knew a whole lot more than she was willing to spill. I could have forced her to tell me but she hated me enough already. I needed her to soften, and not harden towards me.I picked up my report and turned the TV off, having watched enough of the boring news. The pack house was silent, way too silent. I decided to go and check on my little brother to find out what he was up to. Maybe I was underestimating him. Sometimes hatred can grow slowly until it becomes something that ends up causing a disaster. As I walked into the elevator, I realized I needed to have a party at the house. It had been a while since everyone came together. It needed to happen as soon as possible. Ever since I found my mate and she rejected me, my mind had been preoccupied and wasn’t functioning at maximum capacity anymore. I was glad she was beginn

The sisters

When I went downstairs the next day, I was surprised to find so much activity in the house. The house was always silent but it had suddenly turned into a hub of activity. I treaded carefully as I headed to the kitchen. A young unfamiliar woman was pouring milk into a glass while Francesca was frying some eggs.“Who are you?” she asked, pouring the milk carton back into the fridge. “Kelsey Arlington,” I said. “You?”She raised a brow and tilted her head.“Am I supposed to know you?” she asked. I glanced at Francesca and noticed she had a smirk on her face.“So you must be Jackson’s new toy,” she commented, staring at me from head to toe. I wanted to feel angry, but I didn’t. It was clear to me that Jackson was used to having different women every now and then. That’s why everyone around him imagined I was his current toy that he would use and dump. However, I didn’t plan to be that kind of woman to Jackson. If he thought putting me in the pack house would make me desire him, he was

The archenemy's call

Jackson. I stared at the phone for a few minutes before picking up. “Hello?” A chuckle echoed from the other end of the line. “Hello Jackson King, I hope you’re ready for what’s about to happen to you.” The dread I had been feeling since the phone rang finally made sense. Nothing good could come from Bryson. Even when he feigned niceness, you could tell there was great evil inside him. “What do you want, Bryson?” I asked, trying to remain civil. All I wanted was to send that fool straight to hell. “Oh Jackson,” Bryson said before chuckling. “I called to warn you. You need to prepare for what’s about to come your way. I know you think you’re unbeatable but I’m very sure you will not survive this. It’s going to come in a way you least expect.” Dread washed over me but I did not feel scared of Bryson’s warnings. “It’s a shame that a man like you has time for this foolishness. You want to challenge me, do it like a man not a little boy. I don’t have time for these games. You know th

The humans

I thought I was going to die. My body was letting go, and I thought there was nothing I could do until I remembered the poisoned laced pocket knife I had stuffed in the pockets of the shorts I’d worn underneath my dress. My hands were weak by I managed to push my fingers into the pocket and retrieved it. With all my might, I suddenly stabbed him in the thigh. He was shocked and let go of me for a second. He quickly regained his bearings and grabbed me again, this time laughing. “Do you really think this tiny blade is going to stop me?” he asked, his hands reaching out to me. He grabbed my head and was about to snap my neck when the pain hit him. He twisted his face and went down on his good leg. He grabbed the blade and pulled it out of his thigh. Grabbing a shirt, I ran out of the room and put it on from outside. “What’s going on?” a petite sales woman came rushing towards the stalls. “There’s a man inside there. He wants to kill me.” I started running towards the door. I was abou

A new enemy

Jackson.“The cops have her,” David, one of my most trusted guards said.“Who?” I asked. I had a feeling it was Kelsey.“Miss Arlington,” he said. “She just got arrested, and is being accused of killing a man.”“What? When did this happen? Did she really kill him?”“I have no idea, sir but a man is certainly dead. The forensics team are carrying a body bag to their vehicle.”I sighed. “Well, he must have deserved it. I’ll go to the station right now. But wait, where is Angie and why didn’t she get back to me?”“She just returned to the shop and is asking random people questions. She had left Miss Arlington in the shop and gone down the street. She returned just as she was being pushed into the police car and didn’t do anything.”“Wow, okay. I’ll get to the station now. Thanks for the information.”Now I was convinced that Angie could not be trusted. This couldn’t be coincidental. I was pretty sure that young woman was planning my downfall. I tried to think of anything bad I had done t

A powerful enemy

From the time I laid eyes on him, I knew he was dangerous. Far more dangerous than Jackson King. Vlad Kosher was something else, and way more powerful. Although he was seated at the front of the car and I was behind, I could feel intense energy radiating from his body. I was sure every supernatural being could feel it from miles. This was no ordinary man and I had a feeling he was going to cause trouble. Earlier Jackson had spoken about him very well, but now it looked like he didn’t want to be near the man.Even I didn’t want to be near that man. The way he had looked at me had made me uncomfortable. I wondered if he couldn’t tell there was something between Jackson and I, or he had just chosen to ignore it. Had it been any other man, Jackson would have said something but he was fairly quiet during the ride. The man had an amused smile on his face the whole time, and I knew only evil thoughts were running through his mind. The two friends barely spoke all the way home, each lost in t
