Cora’s POVIt’d been almost two weeks since I was discharged from the infirmary and not a word had been spoken between myself and Kai about the kiss we’d shared. I was even temporarily relieved of my duties that required me to clean his room thrice a week, and I knew that it was because he was intentionally avoiding me.The kiss, it was…. I'm not sure there’s a suitable description for it, but it was like being welded into all the dark things about him that strangely appealed to me. It felt like he was gently incorporating me into the dark side and it was the most beautiful welcome one could possibly receive. For most of the time my head was completely blank and I’d thrown logic out the window but my heart was full, full of all the wonderful sparks that he was igniting as well as the butterflies that’d fluttered past it from the depths of my belly. It was a wonder to me how something could be so dark yet so pure, so utterly fulfilling. There were no adequate words for how wrong it was

Cora’s POVI didn't want to overthink things and then jinx everything, but it was fucking hard not to. I kept wondering who the damned shadow was even though I should’ve just taken his/her presence as a sign that the moon goddess was finally on my side. Deep down, all I was really interested in was his/her identity but I had absolutely no clue and it was killing me.I hated being in the dark.My heart was thumping with an unusual surge of adrenaline as I walked back into the palace gates, nothing made sense, yet so much was finally coming together for me. While it was a plus to my mission to have a partner as fierce and as fearless as myself, I wasn’t sure if I could trust a person that would keep their identity a secret from me just to protect themselves in case things went south.Who’s to say that I be wouldn't implicated when push came to shove?Still, I didn't want to turn down an offering of help, especially when I was already battling feelings that I had no business feeling for

Cora’s POVMy head was banging and I couldn't remember shit. But there was a lot of loud howling around me that’d woken me up from the worst nap I’d ever had, everything fucking hurt and I was nothing but confused about how I’d fallen asleep in the middle of a shift. And then the howling got louder and louder, drawing me closer and closer to the shitty reality that awaited me. Still, believe it or not, when I’d first heard the howls, I’d assumed that it was from my dreams, it was easier to believe that.Even now as I stirred awake and felt hundreds of eyes on me, I was so scared to open my eyes, so terrified of whatever awaited me. But one thing about me? I’d face the worst situations head on before I show any sign of weakness, always. So I decided to count to three and them jump on my feet to attack. One, tw—“What the hell!?” I shrieked as I got interrupted by my dress being ripped, and of course my eyes flew open.Nothing under the earth or above it could’ve prepared me for the sig

Cora’s POVMy eyes fluttered open to the most beautiful sight.A man’s hard bare back was turned to me and golden rays of sun rested on it as he flexed his muscles while doing something I didn't care to know, all I wanted to focus on was the movement of his strong gorgeous arms as he moved. Then he began humming a nursery rhyme I knew on the back of my hand, swaying gently as the notes floated through the air and eased the slight headache I had woken up with, a headache that the sight of him had made up for the instant I spotted him.“Ah, you’re awake” He turned around and I suddenly felt ashamed for ogling him when I realized it was Kai.But that mean I’d deny how utterly tempting his chest muscles looked as they faced me now. And just for a second it saddened me that I’d have to kill such a beautiful man eventually. No, a beautiful monster. That wasn't important though, I just needed to leave Kai and go elsewhere, being around him confused me so damn much.“I shouldn't be here” I tr

Cora’s POVIf looks could burn, my eyes would be burning a hole through the ridiculous note in my hands this very minute.Hello partner, it read.Meet me at the chapel in five minutes, I’ve got nothing more than a few minutes to strike a deal with you so I took your little friend so you’d hurry your ass over here without wasting a second.P.S; I hate being kept waiting and I have a glass of wolfsbane that I’d love to share with your friend if I get bored.“That fucking pig!” I tore the letter to shreds as my blood boiled with fury, no one touched Nina, not even as a ploy to gain my attention.I didn’t waste another second—just as the shadow had predicted—and I sped toward the abandoned chapel as fast as my wolf’s ability could handle. As soon as i reached the door, i noticed that it was slammed shut and a piece of Nina’s dress was tied around the knob.“Real fucking classy, to shred a woman’s dress to pass a message” I yanked the piece off the knob and kicked the door open so hard tha
