fight fight fight!

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 11: fight fight fight! . “I never thought you’d go so low, Arabella.” Gael drawled as he approached the other. The elder whirled around, hands on her hips. “What’s that supposed to mean?”“Exaclty what I said. Breaking our agreement, using your son to get me home, forcing us to have dinner, trying to appeal by cooking my foods, immediately answering that I’d make it to his play. You’re overstepping.” Gael huffed. Arabella seemed to recoil for a moment, before firing right back. “I can’t believe you! You think I’m doing this to get on your fucking good side or to be a model husband? Hudson was asking for you. I felt terrible, so I asked. You could have said no, at any time, by the way. And I made your favorite foods as a fucking apology, Gael! As an apology for disturbing your work time! And I answered for you because it’s the second thing I’m asking of you. It’s for Hudson. It would mean the world if you could make it, Gael.” The ot

colossally screw up

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 12: a colossally screw up. Speaking of--there was a firm knock at the door, and Gael rose to let her in. Chanty Starr, or Chanty as the industry and fans knew her, was a sweet faced woman, known for her clever songs and a personality that drew people in. Gael himself had talked to her during a few awards shows, and he found that he definitely did not hate her presence. She was polite and private, and she had a similar drive and enthusiasm that he enjoyed working with. She grinned at him, and god bless, knew about his aversion to hugs, instead reaching out for a shoulder pat instead. “Hello Gael! Let me tell you how excited I am for this collaboration. I’ve been talking about it all day. I’m sure my managers are tired of hearing me talk about it. But it’s true. The track is there, the lyrics are just how I envisioned it to be. Now it should be easy for us!” She cheered, her enthusiasm immediately picking his own up as she gifted him

do you see right through me?

. Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 13: do you see right through me? . Gael had initially anticipated a house that was upturned, his pictures on the floor and glass shattered everywhere, but surprisingly, he came back to an intact and quiet house. Too quiet of a house. The house was dark, seeing that it was late in the night by the time Gael got home, but there were no signs of life. A cough -- Arabella -- was the only indication that there was someone else living inside of the home. It was too late to talk now, so Gael decided to leave it for now. Besides, it was Saturday the next day--the weekend. He’d talk to them then. Plans did not work out to his convenience. In the morning, after Gael had tossed and turned on his bed for hours and hours, he crept out, padding into the studio. Neither mother nor son turned around to greet him as they usually did. Rather, Arabella gently took the empty bowl from her son’s grasp and set it in the sink, before hoisting the to

the standard

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 14: the standard . “You do that a lot. Clench your hands when I’m driving.” Gael noted, quiet enough for Hudson to not hear him. Arabella made a noise of surprise, before answering him. “‘I’m just uncomfortable with driving.” She said. There was definitely a story there, but Gael didn’t pry. He just slowed, switching to the slow lane with sharp clicks of his indicator, and reached across the console to slip his hand under Arabella’s, warmth filling his palm as he gently pulled the sharp fingernails away from attempting to tear into her fabric. “Your dress needed saving.” Gael said cheekily as Arabella looked and stared at him, neither of them quite talking about how she squeezed his hand in a show of thanks. Arabella didn’t respond to the joke, instead quietly murmuring, “You’re putting a lot of effort into this, aren’t you?”Gael sobered up, staring straight ahead as he replied. “You deserve more. Both of you do. You called me o

playing the safety game

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 15: playing the safety game . Arabella has long since perfected the ParentNapTM. Maybe it came with the paternal instincts that triggered when Hudson entered his orbit, but at the slightest hint of disturbance, she was immediately awake. Most of the time, she snapped awake, echoes of a bad dream bleeding into the background as she tried to calm down her racing heart. But days like this were a little different.See, Arabella was already up by the time she heard her door slowly open, the telltale small squeak of the hinges startling her from her slumber. She stayed very quiet, not moving, regulating her breathing, as she tried to discern who the newcomer was. The little pad of feet was enough–it was Hudson. Gael moved with a bit of purpose, but he dragged his left leg just a little, so there was often a little shuffle to the sound of his steps.

The bed dipped, and the little boy clambered onto the mattress next to her. It was quiet

new bedroom + new sleeping positions

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 16: new bedroom + new sleeping positions . It was so very easy to settle into a routine with his little family. Both of them would drop off Hudson in the mornings, Arabella would pick up the little boy on her way home from work, Gael would come home early in the evenings, both of them would trade off on who cooked dinner, and Gael would complete the rest of his work from the home studio. It was nice–some days he could watch Arabella relax and help his son with homework as she prepped dinner–other days he was able to indulge in his wife’s god tier cooking. Certain mornings were a bit rough. Sometimes things didn’t go to plan–but this was definitely not something that Gael anticipated. At first, it was the alarm going off. Gael finally groaned and pulled himself up, and the time on the screen made him screech. Fifteen minutes late–he’d just have to skip his shower to make sure that he was on time for driving Arabella and Hudson to

mother in law approaching

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 17: mother in law approaching . The first thing that Arabella felt in the morning was that she didn't feel like death. Her throat had cleared up, her nose was less congested, and aside from the early-in-the-morning fatigue, she felt a lot less like the groggy, tired monster she had been yesterday. She also didn’t feel any of the dry mouth, harried breathing after waking up after a night full of nightmares. She must have had an actual, pleasant sleep for once. The second thing that she noted was that she was very much snuggling into a person. Her nose was digging into a neck, she was practically starfished on top of them. There were arms wrapped around her, keeping her stable, and the chest she sprawled on rose and fell steadily. The third thing she realized was that she was very much snuggling with Gael Laurent. Her fake …whatever. Gael’s lips were slightly parted, head tilting back onto a pillow, and he looked a lot more youthful

family bond

. Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 18: family bond . If Gael was terrified of seeing his mother after so long, Arabella was even worse. The rapper had waited until the mother and son duo had brushed their teeths and sipped their coffees (Hudson had hot chocolate made by Gael because it apparently tasted better, but all Gael did was prepare the Nestle chocolate mix, so he didn’t know what the little rugrat was talking about. Okay, he totally put a little extra sugar as a treat.) to break it to them, and Arabella’s face had completely drained of any and every hint of color. Gael was helpless as the woman fretted and ran around the house. She was quick to send Hudson to shower, then rushed to get an ironing board, ironing out Gael’s and Hudson’s clothes until they were creaseless. (Apparently Arabella had invited herself to pick out what Gael was wearing to impress his mother.) Gael too, was pushed to go shower by Arabella, and Hudson and him could only exchange a h

A regular night

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 19: a regular night . Ideally, the night wasn’t supposed to include Arabella almost stabbing Gael with a chip, or Faye laughing so hard that juice spurted out of his nose, or Hudson biting Louis’s finger. See, initially, it had been a regular night. Gael had kicked off his shoes at the door, 4:00 PM reading out on his watch. He supposed it was the earliest ever that he had managed to come home, but he rather liked it. It was still light outside, and if he had timed it right, Arabella and Hudson were both home. He loosened his tie, before the pattering of feet clued him into the presence of newcomers. Arabella and Hudson seemed to be racing to get to him, and Seokjin, was notably losing in her haste to protect her little son from smacking into the corners of walls. Gael felt his heart do a little flip flop as he saw the mother and son duo rushing to get to him. He’d never been welcomed this way, not before these two, and everytime

life comes at you fast

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 20: life comes at you fast . True to his word, Gael had scheduled the photoshoot. Given his name and power, he was given an appointment immediately, for the day after. (It helped that he had practically helped raise this particular photographer, almost like a son of his and one of his favorite people.) Hudson, for one, looked adorable in his little suit that Gael had gotten tailored for him, tie adorably twisted and knotted (Hudson had been insistent that he wear the tie with the tigers, and so the orange cartoon animals leapt out of the fabric.) Gael, dressed in his own neat suit himself, hoisted the boy to rest on his hip, peppering soft kisses to his cheeks. When Arabella stepped out, Gael felt his mouth go dry. It was so ridiculous… What difference did it make that her hair had been neatly swept back, a strand acting as a fringe for her to keep out of? What difference did it make that her lips looked glossy and sheen, as thoug
