Chapter 81

Aurelia's POV"You are going to be queen!" Mira squealed so much that I winced with my hands over my ears. My cheeks hurt as I had been smiling so much. Who knew Mira could produce this much excitement?"Congratulations to you both," Hunter gave a thumbs up. "You'll do fine as queen."I wasn't so certain about that. In fact, I wasn't sure at all. I knew nothing about being queen. But Hunter assured me that the King would take care of it. I knew that. I could totally rely on Liam.I had been so uncomfortable under their stare. They placed so much expectations of me in their eyes that I feared jumping down from it to my own trust in myself, would break my back. I didn't want to let them down but I also didn't want to feel too pressured."You two are a perfect couple," Renee chipped in. She had come along to serve me lunch when she heard the news. Her eyes were wide with excitement as everyone was caught in the jubilating spirit."You're the ice to the Lycan King's fierceness," she said

Aurelia's POV"Emma," Liam called her name in a stern voice that left no room for chit-chats.I turned to the guards at the door. "Leave us," they bowed at the simple command and they walked out of the hallway.I stared at the door, almost drilling a hole through it."I know you don't trust me," I replayed Emma's words. "But I warned you, didn't I? He'll get tired of you-""You're wrong," I had retorted and stood firm on Liam's interest in me and his daily dose of affection."Then follow me, Aurelia. Follow me and listen to him explain himself. How about that?" She had suggested in a tone I couldn't refuse. So here I was, penned down by curiosity and holding onto the strong faith that my mate was with me because he loved me and not because he had been waiting to get information on the plant that could make him go through a smoother rejection."You're back," he said with no surprise in his voice, like he knew she would return no matter how far she decided to go away from him. "Why are

Chapter 83

Aurelia's POVI lost count of the minutes that felt like hours in his arms but when he cupped my face, there was worry in his eyes. His eyes were so sincere. He brushed his thumbs over my cheeks and his frown deepened."You're crying again," he said more to himself than to me, almost like he was trying to figure out why all on his own.It was a sight that broke my heart even further. This man who would do anything for me would betray my trust? I didn't want to believe it.I didn't even realise I was crying until he mentioned it. I was that much of a mess in my head already. My thoughts were eating me alive like they were paid to specifically do so. Every scenario played in my head. How would he do it?When would he do it? Would he look me in the eye like he was doing now? Would he still have that look of worry and affection in his eyes?I didn't want to picture Liam being so cold to me. We were already past that stage. I liked the phase we were in now. It was nothing but a soft pat of

Chapter 84

Aurelia's POVLeaves crunched under my feet as I zoomed past the crickets of the night leaving my tears behind.I had no control over them. They could do whatever they wanted. Chapter 85

Aurelia's POV Morning came and I was walking on my two feets. My wolf was tired and had retreated to rest. I was hungry, tired and dirty. I needed a bath, some food and a place to sleep too. I was already in another pack. I noticed it when the sky brightened and I encountered two to three children running around, chasing each other. When they saw me, they froze and they ran the other way, screaming for their mothers and crying. They looked at least five years old or seven, I could tell correctly. "I look that much of a mess, huh?" I smirked to myself and scratched my face. I looked down at my dirty hands and sighed heavily. If only I could find a stream or a public bath. That would be nice. I could wash my clothes and wait for them to dry or better yet, have them dry while serving as the hanger moving under the sun. I touched my necklace. "I guess it's just me and you again," I said to the poor thing and inhaled deeply, trying to gather strength from nature. I was leaving every

Chapter 86

Aurelia's POVShe led me back to the market and I could already feel the thick air and the silence. I noticed everyone's gaze on me the minute we walked into view. The relief was impossible to miss and I wondered just how much trouble they were in.I felt guilty for my actions and was determined to help them out of the situation. Only one thing though, how strict was their Alpha?I had faced a vile Alpha Prince, then a sweet and charming Lycan King who shook me from the beginning. I guess at this point, I was tired of meeting Alphas. I was scared as each of them had scarred me in more ways than one."Look, Alpha Adrian, she's here. She's alive!" The woman who had pushed me to the ground yelled with urgency and relief. She was on her knees with two guards beside her. One was in wolf form and he growled at her. She swallowed her words and lowered her eyes to the floor. All this for an apple? I felt ashamed. It was my fault she was in that position anyways."Where is the Alpha?" I mutter

Chapter 87

Aurelia's POVShelter? The words were all too familiar and I stared at the new Alpha who was approaching with the scripts of the old ones.I had wandered down this "shelter" path too many times to fall for this one. I knew how it would end and I didn't want to partake in it."Why do you look so shocked?" Alpha Adrian asked me with his brow arched like he was studying my body language. "All guests are supposed to be in my mansion.""B-But Alpha, I am not a guest," I reminded him. In fact, I should even be treated as a rogue and taken in for questioning."True," he shrugged. "But you've lost your memory and have nowhere else to go. Why not stay with me until you recover?"He had a fairly good point there. I was the one feigning memory loss and he was the one acting to be kind. Kind and Alpha never really went hand in hand.I have suffered enough from the pretence to know this already. His offer, though tempting, was too suspicious for me to just jump right into it. "I'm sorry but I can'

Chapter 88

Aurelia's POVIt was a mansion made for god's on land. While Liam's was a Castle and had more space and width, Alpha Adrian's mansion was flashy like he held a banquet every day of the week. The fountain in the centre of the place between the gate and the stairs, shimmered from gold while water poured endlessly. There were several statues of wolves at each side and I guessed they were his predecessors."Alpha!" Someone called at him and I saw the dark haired, slim figured man rush down the stairs with a colourful robe.He rushed to the Alpha and threw the robe around his shoulders, dropping down to the floor."Your mother has been worried about you," the man announced and Alpha Adrian groaned, rolling his head dramatically."I stepped out only two seconds ago," he murmured and started to walk away. The other man paused when he noticed me and a questioning look settled on his face.I averted my eyes immediately, staring at the floor that had not a speck of dirt on it."Who is this woma

Chapter 89

Aurelia's POVI guessed right. Alpha Adrian had someone by his side. The best I could do was try to remain invisible. Maybe even try to get out of the guest room too and be in the maid quarters.I didn't want him to treat me differently from his servants. After all, I had offered to come with him to work and earn for myself.I changed into my outfit and stared into the mirror. It looked lovely on me. Maybe even too much. I held my hair up after debating which one was less beautiful and catchy.I decided to let it down- covering the sides of my face. I considered getting a haircut- bangs would look nice and would hide my face a little more.I stepped out and saw Glenn and Casey already heading to me."You're all set up. Wow! You look like everything was made for you," Casey complimented and I resisted the urge to run back to my room and do something about it."Thanks," I mumbled instead. "What do we have to do?""The Alpha family will be having dinner soon. There are already people ass

Chapter 90

Aurelia's POVHer sudden change in character and her intimidating aura gripped me with fear.Beside me, Alpha Adrian chuckled nervously, "She's quite scary, isn't she? Don't let it get to you. Even I shiver when she doesn't get her way."I exhaled through my mouth, releasing the tension in my shoulders. Now that I thought about it, Liam never mentioned his mother. All I knew was that his father died of natural causes and his mother followed a few years later. At the time when he started to open up to me, I guess if I had asked, he would've told me… not that it mattered now anyways.A mother figure. It had been years since I came across one. I was starting to question the kind of family Alpha Adrian had."You're spacing out again," he drew my attention and I blinked at him. "What kind of home did you have?"A warm one. There was warmth and love in my home. My parents were each other's mates and they openly expressed their love and affection. I grew up in love, surrounded and bathed in
