Chapter 131

Vladimir: Mate… I had to admit, I was curious. Who the woman was, and what she looked like. But the last thing that I expected from her was not to make a sound in my presence. Hell, the woman didn’t even call for help, nor did she react to me being in front of her. It was as if she was just studying who I was, and was probably trying to figure out what I was doing in her room in the first place. I walked out of the room, knowing not to make a sound so as not to catch anyone’s attention. The fact that she had Batrov, the man’s right hand, being here to supervise her told me that she would be getting in trouble if anyone saw me walking out. But that made it even more intriguing for me to enjoy. To say the least, there was always a little more fun when it came to danger like this one. “Mr. Vladimir,” I heard from behind me. I raised an eyebrow, shaking my head in question as a woman walked up to me. She wore a white gown, and her hair was left over her shoulders. Her heartbeat

Chapter 132

Elena: I walked out of the bathroom, frowning in confusion when I saw Batrov inside my room. His eyes met mine for a second, and I looked down at my feet, avoiding his gaze before he walked toward me. He handed me the plastic bag, and I looked up at him, knowing that he got the pills for me. “I didn’t forget them, but I didn’t want to bring them when he was around.” He said, and I nodded in thanks. He looked at me, taking a deep breath as I took a step back before walking toward my dresser to hide them between my clothes. It was the one place where I could keep them, and I was always sure to keep changing their place to ensure that none of the maids saw them. “Do you want to go to the garden for a bit? Get some air?” He asked, and I shook my head. He sighed and walked toward me before putting a hand on my right shoulder, making me flinch. He was quick to remove his hand, and slowly pulling the sleeve of the dress down, I knew that he saw the bruise that I had on it. “Elena, I can h

Chapter 133

Vladimir: I knew that I was playing with fire with what I was doing, but I also knew that I caught the woman’s attention. Her eyes were fixed on my extended hand for a few seconds before she allowed herself to extend hers to shake mine. And I couldn’t help the small smile that formed on my lips as I felt a spark coursing through my veins. Her eyes studied my expression before she pulled her hand away, and I nodded, watching as she took a sip of her tea. “Do you spend your whole day in this room?” I asked, and she looked around the room for a second before she nodded. “Don’t you go out?” She shook her head in response before nodding at the window. I looked at it and she got up from the edge of the bed, making me smile as I watched her walk toward it. She put the cup of tea on the table, and she stood in front of it, crossing her arms over her chest before looking at me and walking toward the bed again. “You stand like that when you want to look out the window?” I asked, and she

Chapter 134

Elena: “Elena, I am sorry.” Batrov said, looking at me. I looked away from the man, forcing myself to let out a breath that I held out of fear. The fact that I knew that I could have gotten in trouble for this was one thing that I was not going to deny, but the idea that the man went through that fuss, brought in a maid to protect me, and interfered was one thing that made me feel thankful. This was something that no one has ever done for me in this Estate. Anything that was good for my sake was never allowed, and I knew that anyone who tried to often got in trouble. However, right now, I wanted nothing more than for Batrov to leave the room. The pain that I felt at the fact that though I believed that he was a friend, and though he told me that he wanted to help me out of here, he raised his hand as he questioned me. Had it not been for the maid entering the room, I knew that I would have paid a price that I didn’t want to. I didn’t respond as I walked toward my bed, pretending t

Chapter 135

Vladimir: I kept my eyes on Elena, watching as she looked down at the notebook that I had in my hand for a second. Her eyes met mine and then she looked down at the notebook as I got up from the chair. She flinched, and I raised my hands, silently letting her know that I did not aim to harm her. She was my mate, human or not, and whether or not she felt the bond yet didn’t make a difference. However, I could tell that the bastard hurt her enough to break something in her. I doubted that she even knew what a werewolf was, nevertheless, I was going to be sure to earn her trust before letting her know what and who I really was. “I am not going to hurt you, Elena.” I said, my voice softening as I looked her in the eye. She looked up at me, studying my expression for a second before I nodded in encouragement. The last thing that I would ever want was for my mate to fear me, the idea of that was one that I couldn’t swallow. But I knew that I couldn’t blame her. She shook her head at m

Chapter 136

Elena: I frowned in confusion when my bedroom door opened early in the morning, especially since it was still dawn.. I knew that the maids rarely ever entered my room unless it was to either clean or bring me something to eat, and even that happened in an hour or more. The only reason that I was awake was the fact that I needed to go to the bathroom, but I knew that I still had another hour before the sun rose in the sky. I took a deep breath as I walked out of the bathroom, thinking that it was Vladimir again. The idea of him coming in the morning frightened me, I didn’t want to get caught, especially since I didn’t want to get in trouble with Batrov if he saw him. The picture of him seeing the two cups of tea the other day played in my head, and though I didn’t even know how he managed to convince the maid to help, I knew that I had to thank him for what he had done for me. “Did you miss me, wife?” I heard Konstantin ask, making my heart drop. I gulped and took a deep breath, know

Chapter 137

Vladimir: “When did you get here anyway? No one has informed us that you were coming, we would have come to pick you up from the airport ourselves.” I said, looking at Batrov. His eyes met mine and I could tell that the second hand hated my guts. For starters, telling Konstantin about him being knocked out after being drunk was something that he did not appreciate. However, this was going to be the least of his concerns when I chose to kill him for the way that he treated my mate. I just needed to give it time before I did so, and I was going to be sure that even Konstantin wanted him dead. “I didn’t want to disturb you so early in the morning. Plus, I paid a visit to my wife before seeing you all and I doubt that it would have been appropriate for me to just leave you to go to her when I just arrived and you went through the fuss of picking me up.” He said, making me clench my fist. His eyes met mine for a second, and I could tell that he noticed my change of expression. “Vladimir?

Chapter 138

Elena: I sat on my chair, fearing what was to come now that I knew that Konstantin was here. The idea of me not seeing Vladimir was one that pained me, and though I did not even understand why it did; I felt like something was going to be ripped off from me before I even got it. I wrapped an arm around myself as I cradled my own body, wondering what it would be like to be free again. It was a dream that I had, but a dream that was shattered the second that I entered this Estate. The fact that he had given me a notebook to actually ‘voice out’ what I was thinking was something that made me internally smile. And though I didn’t understand his reasons, something inside me told me that I was safer than I had ever been since I was a kid. The bedroom door opened, and I closed my eyes for a second before getting up and looking down at my feet, knowing that it would be easier for me if I did not fight back. He would be done and would be out of here. “Elena,” his voice was above a whisp

Chapter 139

Vladimir: “How are you feeling?” Konstantin asked, watching as I sat at the table, not bothering to touch the food. I wasn’t in the mood to eat anything in the first place, and considering that I wanted to get out of here as fast as I could. More specifically, I wanted HIM to get out of the house before he would approach my mate’s room. “I am well,” I said, and he looked down at my empty plate. I didn’t know where Batrov was, but I didn’t bother asking. To my surprise this morning, it was only the two of us on the table. “And yet, as a man like yourself, you are not eating.” He said, and I shook my head. “A little dizzy, but don’t worry, I am going to eat when I am hungry.” I said, and he nodded. “When did you come back yesterday?” “I came back a little after dawn. I was supposed to come earlier, but I had a few things to deal with. Leonov had his own ‘projects’ and he chose to share them with me. His plans are not bad, but he is going to need guidance toward what he is going to

Chapter 140

Elena: “Good morning, wife.” I heard Konstantin say as I walked out of the bathroom. Having taken a shower as I normally did in the morning, this was the last thing that I expected to be dealing with. My eyes widened in surprise and I was forced to quickly look down at my feet, avoiding his intense gaze, and he raised an amused eyebrow. “I have missed you, I have to admit that much to you.” He said, getting up from the chair that was beside my window. He walked toward me, his steps awfully slow, and I couldn’t help but find myself gulping at that. It has been nearly a week since he last visited, and I knew that Vladimir had something to do with it as he chose to keep him outside the house on a daily basis. That, and there was also the fact that he was aware of my cycle. The maids would be reporting to him the second they started seeing the pads out, and he would be keeping count to pay me a visit when I was done. Sometimes, he didn’t even care to wait. But to have him in the r
