Chapter 1

HazelI had a life as though I had none. Bullied and rejected, I was more like a tool for everyone around and nobody cared about me.My mom was sick, and I needed to work extra but my pay was peanuts. I walked gradually to the house with a heavy heart, and was stopped by a voice behind me."And where are you coming from?" Gulther, my stepfather growled at me from behind with so much hate in his voice.I turned around slowly and my eyes met with his hateful glares making me shudder absently."Answer me!" He growled, "where do you think you are coming from?" He shot a glare at me with a frown on his face but before I could give an answer to his question, he looked down and saw the money with me, and his face twisted with so much hate and disgust."You fool!" He bawled out and advanced towards me."And how many times have I warned you to always bring all the tips you get from work back to me?" There was so much hate in his voice as he pulled the money away forcefully from me."But, I...

Chapter 2

HazelI stared into the eyes of my mate shivering hard with excitement. I could feel my heart beating erratically, with the butterflies that fluttered in my belly. At least, I had finally found my mate. Someone that was going to treat me as though I existed.I stared into his eyes expecting his wolf to take a hold of him and for him to notice the mate bond but none of these happened. He kept staring at me blankly like he could not see me."And where were you heading to?" He shot a deadly glare at me making me fall back into fear.My lips shook in trepidation and before I could even say a word, he slapped me hard on the face causing the fear and tears to be visible on my face."How dare you run away from the Alpha you fool?" "Don't you know that you have been sold to me?" He thundered but I could not say a word to him.I kept waiting, maybe he was going to sense the wolf bond but he didn't. He only stared at me like he wanted to chew me alive.Or had he already sensed it and still ha

Chapter 3

HazelInstead of seeing the one that I was supposed to love and cherish as my mate before me, I saw nothing but a beast and I felt like tearing him apart with my bare hands.I wanted to tell him that I was pregnant as I felt my baby in my womb. But no, I wasn't going to do that. I hated him now with so much passion and I wasn't going to be the source of his joy when the only thing he did to me was being the source of my nightmare."I hate you and I wished I never had anything to do with you," I growled angrily at him."And who cares about that?" He growled back at me without the slightest trace of hurt in his voice. I could feel tears already forming at the corner of my eyes and my heart was broken into pieces but I was able to hold my tears back.I wasn't going to let him see that I was by any means pained. "Since you hate me and only see me as a toy, there is no use being in this loveless marriage any more. Like I said earlier, can you let me go?" I growled angrily at him but his re

Alexander.Opening my eyes, the first thing I met was a rainbow flowered bracelet that belonged to Hazel.Staring at it brought back memories to me, and as much as they were not completely good memories because of the way that I had always maltreated her, I could not deny how beautiful that she was every of those times.Even with how I constantly stayed harsh to her, Hazel always made sure that I was in the best state, and tried her best that I never missed breakfast, which was a habit that I was struggling to let go of.She barely came in front of me to serve me, but I noticed the numerous times that she actually prepared food for me, and made the maids to bring it over for me.And at that point, I began to feel guilty about the way I treated her. With the guilt that was already washing over my emotions, I quickly wore a shirt over my open chest, and moved to her room. The maids were already rallying about, cleaning up, as it was morning, with fear in the eyes of some as they watched

Chapter 5

HazelThough Alexander was my mate, getting away from him was my first priority. We were mates yet there was absolutely no bond between the two of us. The only thing we mutually shared was the desire to get away from one another. He clearly hated me, and the only time he even thought of looking at me twice was only when we were making love.Almost instantly the memories of our nights together flashed through my mind, and for a moment I genuinely reconsidered going back to the mansion."No you mustn't!" I yelled out to myself. I mustn't give in to the pleasure and forsake my wellbeing and sanity. Alexander had done me more harm than good, though the sex was inexplicably good, it just couldn't make up for the wrongs he'd been doing to me. He probably would be happy I left, it wouldn't make any difference not when he had Beth around."What's with this guilt?" I inquired from myself inwardly. Hadn't Alexander made it clear that he wanted nothing from me, so why did I feel so guilty with e

Chapter 6

HazelIt's been a week since we intruded into the walls of midnight pack. But instead of being treated like refugees, I and my mother were receiving the Royal treatment. Alpha Conner seemed serious all the time, but in actuality he was a kind man, and treated us as though we were expected guests. I walked out of the hospital ward where my mother was receiving treatment. She was doing better than she was prior to our escape from Nightfall pack, and I was more than grateful to the nurses for their help. Stepping into the garden, I settled on one of the bench and relaxed myself. Running away was the best idea after all. I wouldn't be this free, this happy if I hadn't escaped that curse personified marriage. My hands came down to my belly and softly I caressed my belly. His baby was growing in me, was it really good running away?"Stop it." I stopped myself from furthering my unhealthy thoughts. It wouldn't do me any good to regret my actions now. The deed was done, and there was no goi

Chapter 7

Alexander The past days weren't particularly the best days of my life. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to get Hazel out of my mind. And the constant replay of her features in my head made things even more difficult. Ever since she escaped from the pack, my entire life had been in complete disarray. I had my wolves on a constant search for her, but nothing good came out of the search. It was odd at first than more than fifty wolves couldn't find one girl. But later on, it became a fear I couldn't rid myself of. "She could be dead." My wolf suggested, but I snapped back at him."Don't make such negative assumptions! She's not dead, I know it.""You're aware that all of this is your fault right? You found a mate, and you just couldn't control your male desires to keep her." My wolf taunted without remorse. It was annoying that my own wolf was against me, but at the same time I couldn't get angry. Everything he said was true, and I just had to live with that fact. Walking

Chapter 8

HazelI spent the past night wondering about Conner and how he found out about my pregnancy. Currently, my physical symptoms hadn't appeared yet, and I dealt with my constant wave of nausea in secret. I also did my best to mask my pregnancy scent from his wolf nose, yet somehow he managed to find out. Even Alexander wasn't able to pull off such feat, just who on earth was this man?!Getting up from where I laid, I proceeded to the bathroom to get myself cleaned up. And after that went down to see my mother, before coming up for breakfast. It was my usual morning routine ever since we got here. I was getting used to the place, and the maids and guards around were also getting used to me. They had been surprised by my sudden Intrusion intrusion into their lives. But thanks to Conner's words, they were warming up to me. Speaking of Conner, I wanted to have a word with him today, but I didn't want it to seem as though I was obsessed with seeing him. The air around us was awkward the firs

Chapter 9

HazelI noticed some sort of withdrawal from Conner too after I broke our embrace. I didn't judge him, I was probably disgusting. That's how everybody else always treated me, like I didn't matter. He had been different at first, but after everything that just happened, I was afraid of what would come next. For several moments a tense silence reigned over the entire area, one broken only by a question from the Alpha."Don't you want to have breakfast?" I stared at him momentarily without breaking contact. I was searching his face trying to figure out an opening through his mask of pretence and lies. There was no way he was still being nice to me after I literally lead him on, and let him down as well."I've eaten already, thank you." I replied sharply before attempting to make my escape. However, a firm yet gentle grip restrained me. "You're pregnant Hazel, you need to eat more than your usual portion for your baby." He urged. "Is this a date?" I inquired jokingly in a bit to chang
