I woke up with a start, my eyes adjusting to the dimly lit room. Derick was standing by the door, his back turned to me as he spoke on the phone. I strained to listen, but couldn't make out who he was speaking to. My mind was racing with thoughts of how to uncover the truth behind the attack on my parents by the Black Bird Wolves pack. As Derick left the room, I knew I had to do something. I couldn't sit around and wait for answers to come to me. I needed to find them myself.
