Chapter Forty One

Leonel's POVThe once silent surrounding is now filled with murmurs and of course, despite his obvious weakness, Travis eventually gained his vocal chord's strength. The f*cker just doesn't know when to shut up."What do you mean no more?! Northridge has been in the community longer than any of you does! Is it not enough that you will kill me? You cannot do this to us!"From the screaming banshee, my eyes turned to Janus who's sitting calmly beside him. The exact opposite of his Alpha's behavior. "I suggest you quiet it down or we'll be forced to send you back to your cell." Farrah told Travis calmly but with a raised eyebrow and a hand on her hip. Travis was forced to sit down and I'm surprised they did not shut him up with a tape."As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted," Farrah carried on and sent a fierce glare on Travis way. "The council decided to remove Northridge from the community. Because they suffered a huge loss and because they lost more than half of their memb

Chapter Forty Two

Klaire's POV"Should I accompany you?" Leonel asked me while we're in his office and sneaking out like lovesick fools, and maybe we are. Outside we are strangers to each other who barely look at one another, but behind closed doors, we can't get enough of each other and we always have to be in close contact. We are currently sitting close to each other, my back against his chest and our fingers playing with each other's. A day has passed since our packs merged and the official ceremony will happen tomorrow. Before that, we requested to go back to our pack to get our things or what's left behind that is. "No, why would the Alpha personally escort us when we will only get our things? And besides... it might take some time, Leonel. Some of us will visit the graves and I'm certain there will be a lot of things to do. You won't get to relate. Northridge might have been cruel to us, but we were all born in that pack and we have to let it go.""I understand. I'll just have some of my men

Chapter Forty Three

Klaire's POVThe ceremony will happen today and it will take place in Mountain Peak's training field because it is the biggest place they have. It was cleaned and designed early in the morning and we all helped in decorating it. And even if it's a ceremony to welcome us and for Leonel to bind himself with us, they weren't able to stop our cooks from helping in the kitchen. I guess even if we are no longer slaves, our bodies still move automatically and I have a feeling that most of us will still choose to serve the pack. After all, they made us believe that it's our only purpose in life. It's in our blood and it's all we know. It did not take an hour before the area was ready for the ceremony. Everyone's excited as we put on the ceremonial scarves for the occasion. It is a cream-colored scarf with Mountain Peak's logo on both sides. "Hey, is it just me or a few are missing? Even the bratty princess isn't here." Pauline pointed out as we lounged around the area while we waited for t

Chapter Forty Four

Klaire's POVI've seen the soldiers and even the Alpha in their wolf forms, but it was only twice in my whole life. Because after all, we are forbidden to shift. Anyone who shifts without permission will be killed. That is how grave of a sin shifting was. And it's not like I can shift to my wolf. All my life, I tried to communicate with her. I can feel her at the back of my mind. I knew I was born with one, but I just don't know what the problem was. At some point, I actually thought she's not happy with her human and hates me, that's why she refuses to connect with me. I flinched at the sound of bones breaking followed by a low growl, the hair on my arms standing in fear, but I held it in. From my peripheral vision, I can see and feel the same reaction from my friends. Throughout it, my head remained bowed. I can hear him walking around us and my heart beats erratically when I know he's closer to me.Strange enough, when he was close enough, all the fear inside my body faded and I

Chapter Forty Five

Leonel's POV"How is everyone settling in?" I asked Samson while he's in my office and lazing around. "Oh, they settled just fine, but three of them have to stay in one space because of the lack of rooms.""I am already in contact with the carpenters and they should be able to start the houses for them this week. Don't you have anything better to do? A mate to annoy? Go take care of your child."Samson laughed and threw a piece of crumpled paper at me which I caught easily. "I am on my day off. Rish took the little sh*t to the mall today and she will visit her friend from Redmoon."I snorted at what he said. "Only you will call your child like that.""How about you, Great Alpha? Why don't you go on a date?""Why do you think I'm working double time?" I smirked and he whistled."You got it bad for the omega, man. You know I support you in every decision, but that is too risky. You know that an Alpha and Omega relationship is a taboo in the community, right? And it's not that I'm stopp

Chapter Forty Six

Klaire's POV "What are your plans now?" Leonel asked me while we're on our way back to the pack. "Uhm, we were actually talking about it earlier. I am planning on being a student." His right hand gave my hand a squeeze. "That's great! You're still young and it's never too late to achieve your dreams. What course will you take?" I begin to play with his fingers and gnash my teeth. "I want to be an elder, Leonel." "Oh." He exclaimed and glanced at me before focusing his attention on the road. "That is surprising, I guess. May I ask why?" "I want to be the voice of my fellow omegas. I know they seldom hire omegas and they seldom pass the board, but I want to give it a try. I want to make them proud. I want to prove to everyone that we can do it. And our status won't hinder us." Leonel sighed before he slowed down and parked the car. He held both of my hands and stared into my eyes. "Klaire, if you are to start a new life, live it for yourself. Go chase your dream and be who you wa

Chapter Forty Seven

Klaire's POVFrom her grinning face, my eyes zeroed on my food. The sandwich is now on the ground and the salad I bought is all over the place. I don't even care that I almost embarrassed myself or the fact that everyone's attention is on us. None of those matter to me because my heart is aching for my food that I bought with the money I earned. All our life, we are only fed with leftover foods so we grew up being thankful for anything we have, and not waste even a single grain. A spoiled brat like Zella won't understand that because she never really had to work for anything in her life. "Pay for it." I said before looking at Zella and showed her my palm. Zella seemed amused at that and she leaned her ear closer to my direction. "I'm sorry, what was that?" "She asked you to pay for her food. Have you gone deaf?" I heard Pauline snapped and my eyes remained on Zella. The bully let out a disbelieving laugh. "Look at this trash asking me to pay for their stupidity, guys. Can you be

Chapter Forty Eight

Klaire's POVMy blood ran cold and I almost collapsed on my knees trying to pick up the scattered photos of Leonel and I. What made it worse is the words written under it. 'Alpha and Omega of Northridge were caught meeting in secret a few times. Are they tangled in a forbidden relationship?'Whoever is behind it clearly intends to make it known to the whole community and ruin both Leonel and I's name. "No, no, no." I chanted, my hands started to shake while I'm clutching the photos. My eyes looked around in panic and saw many of them scattered on the ground, and some were holding it. "It's not what it looks like." I mumbled and almost stumbled when I stood up."She's shameless. Seducing an Alpha? Really? She's that desperate to live a different life?" "I know. She looked innocent. You can never really judge someone based on their appearance. Looks innocent but spreads her legs for the Alpha.""I thought Alpha Leonel was a decent man, he's actually a fool for giving in to his need

Chapter Forty Nine

Klaire's POVI still have two classes today and I am still planning to atten despite what happened, but my friends insisted I go home. They served as my bodyguards when we left the infirmary and I am overwhelmed by their kindness. Instead of looking around like what I did earlier, my attention remained on my friends. None of them mattered, because those who care about me is right here with me.I noticed they are starting to collect the papers, but it already spread everywhere anyway. Marsh was right. Why would I be affected by them if I know I did nothing wrong? Why should my private life matter to them? "We can use my car." Marsh offered when we're almost at the gate. "You have a car?" Juris exclaimed in shock. Marsh looked serious at first, but when she heaed Juris, she let out an amused laugh. "Duh?"Back in Northridge, only Travis and Janus and other higher-ranks have cars. They mostly use vans for students or if they have something to go in groups. You can say that our leade

Chapter Fifty

Klaire's POVYou know that feeling when your heart is shattering before you and you can't even pick up the pieces because you're in public? Or that you want to cry out and scream it out but you can't show everyone that you're affected? That is exactly what I'm feeling right now. Outside, I had a shocked expression, but I composed myself and smiled through my pain. Especially because they all turned to me, as if checking what my reaction was. I frowned and laughed at them before shrugging nonchalantly. "Why are you all looking at me? It's none of my business and I'm happy for our Alpha." Then, their attention turned to Marsh who's as pale as snow, eyes still staring at the TV. Part of me is hurt as well that a new found friend of mine has been selected to be Leonel's new pair. It isn't fair. "They didn't tell me about it. They didn't even ask me! How could they decide for me?" Marsh said in disbelief and anger and then she left just as she fished out her phone from her pocket. "Po
