DERRICK* "Are you ready to head out, son?" Dad asked as I opened the door for him. "Yes, sir, let me grab my wallet, and I'll be good to go. Emberly, dads here!" I yelled and walked over to the kitchen counter, and grabbed my wallet. "Hey, daddy," Emberly said as she walked up and hugged dad, and he kissed her on the forehead. "Hi, sweetheart. Your mom should be here shortly," "Ok, thank you," Emberly said as she walked back to our room. The sudden change in our parents over this last week has been a reprieve from how the last seven years have been. I wish mom and dad had this behavior change towards Emberly and me years ago. Mom and dad have made it a point to pick us up every night for dinner, and they also watched our track meet yesterday morning. There has been no more talk about the blow-up we all had last weekend.
